Abstract: A device and method are provided for dispensing a beverage from a pressurized container. The dispensing device includes an integral source of compressed gas for maintaining the beverage within the container at a desired pressurized state. The dispensing device also includes a regulator for controlling the flow of gas from the compressed gas source to the interior of the container, as well as a pressure relief mechanism that accounts for potential over pressurization of the container. The beverage is selectively dispensed by actuation of a tap handle. Delivery is achieved through the device by a resilient delivery tube, and the delivery tube is either pinched closed or allowed to decompress by the actuation of the tap handle.

Abstract: A fill valve for filling and sealing of a pressurized dispensing container, as well as for allowing the release of pressure from a container to prevent over pressurization. The valve may include a generally cylindrical body having a first end and a second end. The fill valve prevents over pressurization of a dispensing container by releasing pressure at a desired maximum point and then stopping the leakage of pressure at a desired minimum point.

  • Patent number: 7188753
Abstract: An inlet is adapted to receive pressurized gas from a CO2 gas cartridge. A variable compression member has a normal height, under normal operating temperature conditions, adapted to provide a normal compressive force between the gas cartridge and the inlet to effectively seal the gas cartridge to the inlet. The variable compression member also has a reduced height, under heightened temperature conditions, adapted to provide a reduced compressive force between the gas cartridge and the inlet to allow pressurized gas to escape between the gas cartridge and the inlet. A seal member is compressed between the gas cartridge and the inlet. The inlet may be part of a pneumatic dispensing device. The gas inlet is in fluid communication with a gas enclosure to enable pressurized gas delivered through the inlet to provide a dispensing force on a product cartridge to cause dispensing of the viscous product.

  • Patent number: 7185792
Abstract: A pressurized gas cartridge drives a dispensing device for viscous product cartridges. The dispensing device and the viscous product cartridge form a gas enclosure separated from a product enclosure by a movable wall. A valve is driven by a rack and pinion valve drive mechanism between an open position and a closed position upon rotation of the pinion. The rack rotates the pinion upon linear movement thereof. A trigger is adapted to impart linear movement to the rack upon manual actuation of the trigger. The open position of the nozzle valve permits viscous product to flow through the dispensing passage, and the closed position of the nozzle valve prevents viscous product from flowing through the dispensing passage. The interface between the trigger and rack is designed to operationally disengage rather than transmit a force therebetween that is capable of damaging the device.

Abstract: The invention relates to a dispensing device and a method for dispensing liquids, preferably reagents, in an essentially automated and finely dosed manner. The dispensing device comprises a first duct that is connected to a storage element for storing the liquid to be dispensed. In addition, a conveying element for conveying the liquid through the fist duct is provided, whereby the liquid has to be dispensed. Liquid is transported from the storage element and is conveyed into the first duct by the conveying element. Moreover, the dispensing device is provided with a closing device that is arranged downstream in the conveying direction of the liquid in relation to the conveying element and serves for quickly closing and quickly opening the first duct. The aim of the invention is to regulate the pressure of the liquid in the region between the conveying element and the closing device. A device for regulating the pressure of the liquid in this region is provided.

  • Patent number: 6779685
Abstract: A carbonated beverage is furnished from a source at a first pressure to a reservoir in which a quantity of the beverage is held a second pressure level that is less than the first pressure and greater than atmospheric pressure. When it is desired to dispense the carbonated beverage into a serving container, the reservoir is vented to the atmosphere so that the beverage is dispensed at substantially atmospheric pressure. The amount of carbonated beverage in the reservoir is sensed and when that amount drops below a first level, carbonated beverage is added from the source while the reservoir is vented to the atmosphere. The venting terminates when the amount of beverage in the reservoir reaches a second level. The beverage continues to flow into the reservoir thereafter for a predefined period of time causing the pressure to increase to the second pressure level.
