Patent number: 6964357Abstract: A stable upright fluid dispensing container in which a fluid is dispensed from the top of the container while the container remains in an upright position. The bulk of the fluid always remains in the bottom of the container. A passageway tube and a plunger apply pressure on the fluid. Knobs on the plunger can include horizontal knob gears, vertical knob gears or push button rack gears. Pressure can also be applied to the fluid by a non-rotating threaded passageway tube having a fixed plunger and a rotating threaded knob. In flexible sealed containers pressure can be applied to the fluid by providing a flexible sealed container, a non-threaded passageway tube and one-way check valve. These features provide increased pressure such that the fluid will be forced to flow into a passageway tube through an entrance opening at the bottom of the passageway tube, up through the tube and out an exit opening. Further, once pressure is relaxed, the fluid flow will stop and the fluid will remain in the passageway tube.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2002Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Inventor: Steven James Manganini

Patent number: 6675991Abstract: A ram plate which allows easy lifting and dropping of the plate even when a complete seal has been made with high-viscosity liquids inside a barrel. The system contains two alternative methods of depressurizing the internal liquids in order to more efficiently avoid vacuum and suction effect when the user attempts to raise the plate. The bleed stick components of the plate are completely independent of vent ports components. Such bleed stick components are levers which, when depressed, will move a cover and expose the internal liquids to outside air pressure via air vents. The vent port components operate through both gravity and potential energy of an internal spring, which place a given amount of downward pressure on a pneumatic cylinder which may or may not be enough pressure to move the cylinder and expose a vent to the outside atmosphere pressure.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2001Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: Graco Minnesota Inc.Inventors: Todd L. Patent number: 6655557Abstract: A dispensing device is provided for dispensing a product that may be of viscous consistency, such as, for example, a cream or a gel. The dispensing device includes a container having a first end closed by a bottom and a second end that has an opening. A dispensing element is configured to be arranged on the product and forms a passage comprising at least one inlet orifice extending in a plane not perpendicular to an axis of the device, and an outlet orifice formed at least partly some distance from the inlet orifice. The outlet orifice extends at least partially above the inlet orifice. Rotating the dispensing element on the product causes the product to be delivered through the outlet orifice.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: L'OrealInventors: Guilhem Rousselet, Nicolas Albisetti

Publication number: 20030071082Abstract: A ram plate which allows easy lifting and dropping of the plate even when a complete seal has been made with high-viscosity liquids inside a barrel. The system contains two alternative methods of depressurizing the internal liquids in order to more efficiently avoid vacuum and suction effect when the user attempts to raise the plate. The bleed stick components of the plate are completely independent of vent ports components. This allows the user to depressurize the internal air even if the high viscosity liquids fail to evacuate or drip from the vent ports, by way of opening a completely separate port that has not been filled with liquid. Such bleed stick components are levers which, when depressed, will move a cover and expose the internal liquids to outside air pressure via air vents.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2001Publication date: April 17, 2003Inventors: Todd L. Patent number: 6454141Abstract: An apparatus and a method for dispersing and feeding dry powders without using pressurized air are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a sample holder, a suction probe, a vacuum means and a positional means. The suction probe is positioned above dry powders in the sample holder, a space between the suction probe and the sample holder is substantially small that allows non-pressurized ambient air to form an high velocity downward air flow when a vacuum is applied to the suction probe. A change of air flow direction at an orifice of the suction probe generates a high shear force above the dry powders, which disperses the dry powders into an airstream. The apparatus feeds the dry powder airstream to a particle analyzer with a controlled rate. The apparatus and method are particularly useful in sizing particles using laser diffraction or image analysis techniques.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2001Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: Coulter International Corp.Inventors: Thomas Breen, Brian Schmitz

Patent number: 6439428Abstract: A dispenser with features for enhanced maintainability generally comprises a lower unit having therein an ice bin; an upper unit atop the lower unit for providing an interface for dispensing ice from the ice bin to the public; a conveyor having and inlet in the ice bin and an outlet in the upper unit; an ice distributor in a lower portion of the ice bin for conveying ice within the ice bin to the inlet; and a drive motor operably associated with the ice distributor, the drive motor being located in a space above the lower unit for ready access. A plurality of optical emitter assemblies are disposed upon a wall of the ice bin and a plurality of optical receiver assemblies are oppositely disposed upon a second wall of the ice bin. Each optical emitter assembly comprises an emitter housing and a selectively removable emitter body comprising an optical source. Each optical receiver assembly comprises a receiver housing and a selectively removable receiver body comprising an optical receiver.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Lancer Partnership L.L.P.Inventors: Alfred A.
