Patent number: 6045010Abstract: A hand-powered apparatus and method for measuring and dispensing a predetermined volume of liquid. A predetermined volume of liquid is selected using a control knob on the apparatus and a valve is moved to a fill position. The handle on an attached hand pump is then moved alternately up and down causing fluid to be drawn into a measuring vessel. Further upward movement of the handle is prevented upon the fluid level in the vessel reaching the selected volume. Thereupon, the valve is moved to a dispense position whereby continued pumping of the handle is again possible. The handle is alternately pumped up and down causing the fluid to exit the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1998Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Assignee: Murray Equipment, Inc.Inventor: David R. Patent number: 6029861Abstract: A device for measuring and dispensing quantities of free flowing material. The device is a tube with one or more partial walls mounted in the tube. When held at an angle above the angle of repose for the free flowing material and rotated 180.degree. around the longitudinal axis of the tube and then another 180.degree. in either direction, free flowing material is measured and dispensed. The device can measure and dispense a variable amount of material by changing the volume of a variable volume chamber. The device can also be automated to turn by an electric motor or a mechanical device operated by a hand squeezed trigger. The device can be a hand-held tube for dispensing free flowing materials, or it can mount on the top of a container of free flowing materials, and be used to dispense quantities of the free flowing material on demand.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1998Date of Patent: February 29, 2000Inventor: Glen R. Patent number: 6010038Abstract: In an apparatus for the volumetric metering of fluid, pasty and/or powdery substances, in particular for separating small amounts of substance from a delivery flow, by means of an adjustable-volume measurement chamber which is connected to a feed conduit and which is provided with an outlet, a capillary measurement conduit (22) is connected as the measurement chamber to a vacuum conduit (33). In particular cases the measurement conduit can be acted upon by conveyor air, but in the normal case it is provided with a metering needle which is displaceable therein and whose free needle end (19) delimits the measurement chamber at one end. In addition a movable sealing body (56) is to be associated as a closure element with the mouth opening (23) of the measurement conduit (22), that serves as the outlet, which sealing body can be connected to a closure device (50) which is limitedly rotatable about a pivot means (52).Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1997Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Transpowder Ltd.Inventor: Frederic Dietrich

Patent number: 5988447Abstract: A measuring spout for installation on a container that dispenses particulate material. One embodiment of the spout measures and dispenses variable amounts of particulate material. Another embodiment of the spout measures and dispenses a fixed amount of particulate material. The spout comprises a wedge-shaped spout member that pivots through an opening formed in a wall of the container. The opening in the container has a gate which, in the preferred embodiment, acts as the back wall to the spout, separating the particulate material in the spout from the particulate material remaining in the container. Thus, as the spout opens, the front wall moves further away from the back wall, thereby, providing a variably sized chamber depending on how far the spout is opened from the container wall. The particulate material is measured by tilting the container so as to let the contents fill the spout.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1998Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Inventor: Jud Yaski

Patent number: 5988434Abstract: An adjustable amount of liquid is reproducibly withdrawn from a container having a pre-chamber in free flow communication with the interior of the container. The pre-chamber is initially filled with an amount of liquid from the container and is in communication with a measuring chamber. The measuring chamber has an adjustably pre-set volume and is in communication with a closeable outlet. Thus, after the amount to be withdrawn from the measuring chamber has been adjusted, discharge of the preset volume is effected through the outlet without the necessity of additional manipulations such as shaking the container or separating the dosage metering part from the container to effect the discharge of a precise amount of liquid.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1996Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Merz & Co.
