  • Patent number: 10227168
Abstract: A liquid container lid includes a seal arm assembly that stages opening and closing of a vent hole relative to a drink hole so that vapor within the liquid container may be vented to the atmosphere before the drink hole is opened. The liquid container lid and seal arm assembly reduce or eliminate the possibility of a consumer being injured by the hot vapor exiting through the drink hole due to excess gas pressure within the liquid container. The seal arm assembly is operatively connected to a cap of the liquid container lid so that the seal arm assembly is actuated by rotation of the cap. As the cap is turned in one direction, the seal arm assembly opens the vent hole before opening the drink hole. As the cap is turned in a second direction, the seal arm assembly closes the drink hole before closing the vent hole.

Abstract: A beverage dispensing unit for dispensing syrup from a syrup container and mixing the syrup with diluted water and carbonated water is disclosed. The unit includes a body having a syrup flow path, a gas supply path, and a receiving portion for the syrup container. The interior of the syrup container is linked to the gas supply path which supplies carbon dioxide into the interior of the syrup container so as to drive the syrup out of the syrup container and into the syrup flow path. The syrup container is disposed in the receiving portion which includes a first and second hole such that the first hole is linked to the gas supply path and the second hole is linked to the syrup path. A projecting portion is integrally formed with the receiving portion and includes a separating wall which separates the first and second holes so as to prevent the carbon dioxide from flowing directly from the first hole to the second hole.

  • Patent number: 5033648
Abstract: In an apparatus for providing a mixed beverage which is made of various beverages in a mixing space extending along a predetermined axis, the beverages are supplied to the mixing space so that a selected one of the beverages is discharged to a particular portion on the predetermined axis and that another one of the beverages is discharged to a specific portion around the predetermined axis. As a result, the selected beverage is substantially enveloped in the other beverage in the mixing space. Therefore, mixing is effectively carried out about the beverages. It is a matter of course that the beverages are discharged as the mixed beverage from the mixing space.

  • Patent number: 5000358
Abstract: A low profile pneumatic outlet for a covered hopper railway car is disclosed which allows the bottom slope sheets of the hopper car to be moved downwardly closer to the rail thereby increasing the cubic capacity of the car while maintaining the car within AAR clearances. The low profile aspects of the pneumatic outlet result from the provision of an outlet opening in the bottom of the outlet which is opened and closed by a slidable, translatable gate operated by gate opening and closing cam mechanisms positioned generally horizontally with respect to the gate. The preferred gate operating mechanism is a cam operated mechanism which generates a high mechanical advantage initially upon effecting opening movement of the gate thereby to overcome lading and static friction loads, and then, after movement of the gate has been initiated, a lower mechanical advantage is provided so as to more rapidly move the gate toward its open position.

Abstract: A dispenser includes a spout attached to a fluid-filled bag and a socket that is removable attached to the spout. Valves in each of the spout and socket are biased closed but are opened when the socket is latched onto the spout, thereby providing a fluid path from within the bag to the outside. Keying components are provided on each of the spout and socket in order that a fluid connection between them is made only when the key elements match. The valve within the spout extends into the bag when opened and may include a sharp bag wall piercing portion.

  • Patent number: 4901892
Abstract: A tamper evident container closure has a skirt for permanent attachment to the mouth end of a container and a closure crown supported by the skirt. A cover on the closure is displaceable for exposing a well on the closure crown normally closed by the closure. The well has a floor which may be part of a crown panel of the container closure and the well floor has a dispensing opening therein. A rip-out tamper evident element is fixed in closing relation to the opening and requires destructive removal for dispensing access to the opening. A digitally manipulatable handle attached to the element is confined within the well in the closed condition of the cover and is accessible when the cover is displaced from the well for digital manipulation of the handle for forcibly destructively displacing the element from the opening. The portion of the cover over the well may have a sealing surface engageable about the well in the closed position of the cover.

  • Patent number: 4805815
Abstract: A metering dispenser including a metering chamber having an inlet port and an outlet port, an inlet valve for admitting flowable material to the metering chamber through the inlet port, an outlet valve for allowing discharge of the material. To control operation of the inlet and outlet valves, a valve control member is operatively associated with the inlet and outlet valves and is pivotally movable between two extreme limits of pivotal movement which correspond respectively to fill and discharge conditions of the dispenser. A control biasing spring is associated with the valve control member and biases the valve control member towards the one of the extreme limits of pivotal movement corresponding to the dispenser being in the fill condition. An actuator is operative to move the valve control member against the action of the biasing spring. The valve control may be mechanically operative to control operation of the inlet and outlet valves.
