  • Patent number: 4281775
Abstract: Apparatus for controllably transferring fluid from a pierceable pressurized container includes a valve body, a stem member which is threadably connected to the valve body at one end and a fluid-conducting hose at the other end, and an elastomeric valve ball disposed in a cavity between the body and the stem member. The valve ball controls fluid flow from the container through the valve body and stem member to the hose in response to rotation of the valve stem relative to the body. Simultaneously, the valve balls acts as a check valve to prevent flow of fluid to the container. An O-ring seal between the stem and the valve body is adapted to leak at high pressure and bleed off fluid.

  • Patent number: 4261485
Abstract: The specification of the present invention discloses an automatic bottle cap that may be applied to an opened receptacle. The valve used in this cap automatically opens when the receptacle is tipped for pouring and closes when the receptacle returns to the upright position. The device uses two permanent magnets positioned such that a net unbalanced force exists between them which is used to open or close the valve. The movement of one magnet within the structure causes the direction of the net unbalanced force to be reversed causing the second magnet and associated valve stem to move and open or close the valve.

  • Patent number: 4257538
Abstract: A liquid dispenser, for dispensing discreet amounts of a liquid, such as a mouthwash, comprised of a container for a supply of a liquid and a base member which may be attached to the container in a horizontal position to provide for a free standing condition of the assembly, or, in a vertical position for suspension from a pair of screws preset in a wall. A double acting valve, provided with a laterally extending release bar, is disposed at the bottom of the container, said valve being normally spring urged into a closing relation with a discharge port in the bottom of a dose cup, fixed relative to the bottom end of the container. When the top edge of a receptacle such as a drinking glass or paper cup is pressed upwardly against the release bar, the valve is moved from the discharge port of the dose cup permitting the liquid therein to flow into the drinking glass or other receptacle, and the valve is moved into a closing relation with a discharge port opening from the container into the dose cup.

  • Patent number: 4223804
Abstract: A portable defense device combining a flashlight with a renewable, interchangeable cylinder containing compressed gas which may be used to generate a noise, to disperse dye and/or an odoriferous spray. The compressed gas may be stored in a canister which may take the form of a spray can having the typical articulated dispensing nozzle which is then received in an articulated throat assembly displaced to release the contents by a pivoted trigger engaging a pivoted arm assembly. In the normal state the trigger is aligned over the exit opening of the throat, thus protecting the dispensing nozzle from inadvertent release, and when released the trigger aligns to engage the arm.

  • Patent number: 4212627
Abstract: This invention relates to improved mechanism for actuating injection molding valve pins. In one embodiment, the mechanism is located between two parallel rows of valve pins located in a common plane with their driven ends adjacent the mechanism. The mechanism includes a central elongated member which is longitudinally reciprocable and two parallel elongated transversely reciprocable side members, each located between the central member and one of the rows of valve pins. Each of the side members is connected to the central member by a number of spaced pairs of pivotally connected pins and the central member is secured against transverse motion, while the side members are secured against longitudinal motion. Therefore, the side members are reciprocated transversely when the central member is reciprocated longitudinally by a hydraulic cylinder.
