  • Patent number: 6439411
Abstract: A container closure system comprises a container having an opening zone (21) with a threaded neck (22). A closure cap (23) can be screwed on the threaded neck (22). A warranty element comprises an annular base body (25) with engagement means which can engage matching engagement means (38) in the opening zone (21) of the container. The warranty element also comprises one or more indicator elements (27) shaped as circle segments and linked each by a predetermined breaking strip to the base body (25). The closure cap (23) has at least one axial projection (34) which can be inserted between the ends of the indicator elements (27) shaped as circle segments or between the ends of two adjacent indicator elements (27) in order to secure the indicator elements (27) against rotation to the closure cap (23). • Patent number: 6419101
Abstract: A closure is provided that includes a closure orifice that is at least as large as the container orifice, thereby enhancing drinking and pouring. A non-living hinge or a two-joint, living hinge enables easy opening and pivoting of a top cover completely away from a closure orifice to enable a user to drink directly from the closure. The top cover includes a plug that seals the closure orifice. A tear band encircles most of the top cover and secures the lid to the base, and provides tamper resistance. After detaching the tear band, the closure may be pivoted open about the hinge to its fully open position.

Abstract: A fitment is described for use with a container such as a paperboard carton, having an operable section such as a removable disc surrounded by a pre-scored track. The fitment comprises a housing (2) secured to the container surrounding the removable disc (15). A tab (9) with a panel (10) is attached to the disc (15), and pivots with respect to the housing by means of lugs (13). To open the carton, the user grips a handle (11) pivoting the panel (10) to sever the pre-scored track (14). Further movement of the handle (11) fractures the lugs (13) allowing the complete removal of the disc (15) from the carton. The panel (10) is preferably smaller than the disc, leaving a free region (16) which can flex and/or form hinge lines during operation of the tab.

  • Patent number: 6299012
Abstract: An aperture forming structure, which when attached to or integrally formed in dispenser packages for flowable substances allows reclosure and single or multiple uses. The aperture forming structure includes a break away tip member of thermoformable plastic. The break away tip includes a hollow protrusion from a surface. The intersection of the hollow protrusion and the surface is a fault line. Rupturing of the fault line creates an aperture from which the contents of the dispenser package may exit. A cap may be integrally formed with the aperture forming structure and detached for protecting the hollow protrusion or for closing the aperture created when the fault line is ruptured. The aperture forming structure can be made by heating a relatively stiff substantially flat thermoformable sheet of and then stretching the sheet to create a first and a second hollow protrusion in a tiered configuration. A rupture line is placed at the intersection of the first and the second protrusions.

In one embodiment, a tamper-indicating member includes a press portion connected by a hinge to the lid, and an anchor portion connected to the body, the press portion connected at a frangible junction to the anchor portion, whereby the press portion can be moved sufficiently relative to the body to separate the press portion from the anchor portion. The anchor portion is connected to the body by an anchor member extending radially from the body. The anchor portion includes an aperture. The body includes a radially extending head which captures the aperture when the anchor portion is pressed to the body.

  • Patent number: 6257461
Abstract: Two components (2, 3) of a medium dispenser are initially injection molded from a plastics material in one part so as to form a stamp die (6) and a punching ram (7) while being interconnected only by ultra-fine joints (4, 30). The component (3) forming the ram (7) is then linearly displaced in direction (12) into the other component (2) by pressure loading. Thus the joint (4, 30) is severed analogous to shear cutting. This results in very simple production with precisely the same material quality of both components (2, 3).
