Abstract: An attachment breakaway tab (60) is provided for use in a suction system (10) for draining fluid from a source. The suction system (10) includes a fluid receptacle (12) and a cover member (14). The cover member (14) includes ports (16, 18, 20). Cap members (30, 40, and 50) are provided to engage and close the ports (16, 18, 20). The cap members (30, 40, 50) are permanently attached to the cover member (14) using restraining lines (32, 42, 52). A breakaway tab (60) temporarily attaches cap members (30, 40, 50) to the cover member (14) of the fluid receptacle (12) and is severable to permit cap members (30, 40, 50) to be disengaged from the edge of the cover member (14) to permit cap members (30, 40, 50) to be moved to engage the ports (16, 18, 20), while being attached to the cover member (14) using restraining lines (32, 42, 52).

Abstract: A child-resistant dispensing closure fabricated from resilient material which has an inverted cup-shaped body, an axially protruding nozzle and a saucer-shaped lid for closing the nozzle. The lid is connected to the body by a flexible hinge which is unitary with the body and the lid and which is located at one edge of the body. There are cooperating means for retaining the lid in closed position overlying the body and the nozzle, the catch means being located diametrically opposite the hinge. The lid has a maximum diameter no greater than the diameter of the top of the body. The catch means may be at least partially disengaged by moving the lid laterally relative to the body in a direction transverse to the diameter extending between the hinge and the catch means which also protrudes a portion of the lid radially beyond the top of the body. By grasping the protruding portion of the lid, the lid then may be swung angularly away from closing position.

Abstract: A child-resistant dispensing closure consisting of a one-piece molding of resilient material that comprises an inverted cup-shaped cap having a central dispensing opening and a saucer shaped lid that is integrally hinged to the cap at one edge thereof for movement to and from an inverted, closing position closely over-lying the cap. The lid has an element which closes the dispensing opening and engages in telescoping relationship therewith. The cap and lid have overlapping catch means for retaining the lid in closing position. In the closing position, no part of the lid extends beyond the margin of the cap so there is nothing which a small child can grasp in order to swing the lid to gain access to the content material. The hinge is double acting and provides not only for angular movement to and from the closing position but also for lateral movement of the lid relative to the cap against the resilience of the engaged element and opening for disengaging the catch means.

Abstract: A one-piece dispensing closure consists of a cup-shaped cap having means for retaining it on the neck of a container and a lid which is connected by an integral hinge to the cap at one edge thereof and which is adapted to be swung over on top of the cap There are openings through the top of the cap and through the lid, one of which is closed by a stopper element when the lid is swung over and pressed down into closed position against the top of the cap. The relative positions and sizes of the opening in the lid and the stopper element are such that the stopper is withdrawn from the opening when the lid is lifted angularly a short distance to open position by raising the edge of the lid opposite the hinge connection. The cap and lid have cooperating means for limiting the normal, upward, angular movement of the lid away from closed position to open position.

Abstract: A lid made of a synthetic resin and swingable like a cover for a book to open or close the opening of a container. A leg or legs of desired length extending rearwardly from the rear end of a lid plate renders the lid plate capable of maintaining a desired open position, and moving automatically into its open and closed positions. Such capabilities of the lid plate depend on the force created by a flat surface carrying a hinge base to urge the free end of the leg upwardly, the elasticity of a hinge and the hinge base, and the distance defined between the hinge and the free end of the leg which has been moved. The lid is particularly suitable for a compact for a cosmetic, or the like.

Abstract: A closure cap construction for a dispensing container, the cap portion thereof being of the type intended to be held permanently captive on the container and having a dispensing orifice permitting selective discharge of the container contents. The cap portion comprises a body having an internal, double-helical screw thread adapted to engage a corresponding screw thread on the neck of the container. In addition, the body has an internal, downwardly facing shoulder from which there extends a series of molded, integral locking ratchet teeth. The upper ends of the teeth are joined to the shoulder so that the latter provides a stiffening effect which minimizes undesirable flexing or deformation of the teeth. The opposite or lower ends of the teeth are exposed and unconnected, and are intended to by-pass a series of cooperable locking ratchet teeth on the container neck.

Abstract: A one-piece dispensing closure has an annular skirt on the inner side of which there are threads which co-operate with threads on a container neck for retaining the closure on the container. The closure has a disc-like top in which there is a dispensing opening and a lid for the opening which is an integral part of the closure and is hinged to the closure top at one edge thereof. The lid has an integral plug adapted to close the dispensing opening when the lid is swung into closing position overlying the closure top. The closure top and the underside of the lid have co-operating projections, for example, ears and a post, which function to prevent the lid from swinging to closing position when the closure is turned over to position for dispensing content material and which can be manually interengaged for retaining the lid in closing position when desired.

One of the ends of the spring employed is secured to the cap so that the spring is incapable of being pivoted relative to the cap while the other of the ends of the spring is pivotally connected to the lid. The spring is connected to the lid at a location such that the spring has to be bent and such that the lid has to be pivoted relative to the spring in order for the lid to be moved between the noted open and closed position. The spring serves to hold the lid relative to the top of the cap so that the lid is held against movement in the open position by the spring.

Abstract: A childproof container and dispenser which is essentially a container, especially a container for holding a fluid therein, and a childproof cap fitted onto the neck of the container for dispensing the contents from the container and for preventing children from easily having access to the contents of the container. The cap has a base portion fitted onto the neck of the container with an orifice opening through the top surface thereof. The contents of the container are dispensed through this orifice. A first groove is formed around the top surface of the base portion. A top portion removably fits over the base portion in the first groove and also has an opening therethrough. There may be a hinge connecting the top portion and said base portion.

Abstract: A "toggle" type dispensing closure can be constructed so as to utilize a first closure part such as a cap or the top of a container upon which there is pivotally mounted a second closure part such as a lid so that the second closure part may be pivoted between a closed position in which an opening through the first part is closed off and an open position in which material may be moved through the opening. With such a closure one end of a spring is pivotally connected to the first closure part and the other end of the spring is pivotally connected to the other closure part. The spring is connected to these two parts at spaced locations such that the distance between the ends of the spring is decreased as the second closure part is moved between these positions.

Abstract: A container includes a fiber tube and a plastic end closure. The end closure is of one piece plastic construction and includes a base having a central opening. A dish shaped dispensing wall covers the central opening and provides a plurality of small dispensing holes. A tab covers the central opening of the base and provides a sealing pin for closing each of the dispensing holes.

Abstract: A squeeze bottle container with a threaded neck receiving a cap formed with a tapered spout with a relatively small discharge opening through the spout terminating in the center of an angular surface for applying a fluid. A closure cap for sealing the outlet is secured to the spout by a flexible strap and is provided with a tongue received within the dispensing outlet to enhance the seal.

Abstract: This disclosure pertains to a container having a collapsible corrugated spout stored in folded condition recessed below an exterior surface of the container. One end of the spout covers an opening in the container through which the spout passes when unfolded. The other end of the spout is closed by a removable cap. The spout is maintained by clamping forces adjacent the surface of the container when the spout is in an unfolded stored position.

Abstract: A plastic, child-proof fitment is inserted into the opening in a panel of a metallic container. An upwardly extending bead having a burr at the radially innermost edge thereof surrounds the opening and is received by a downwardly extending groove in the plastic fitment. The radially innermost side of the groove includes a radially outwardly extending protuberance which is fittingly engaged by the burr.

Abstract: A container for dispensing pourable materials, ideally liquids, having a cup-shaped lower portion with a bottom wall and a continuous upstanding peripheral wall terminating at an upper edge, a seal engaging the upper edge in a liquid type manner, a pouring spout extending upwardly from the seal, an upstanding wall integral with the seal and surrounding the pouring spout, a small opening in the bottom of the wall which permits any liquid collected within the area inside the wall to drain through the hole and into the cup-shaped portion, and a pivotally mounted cap movable from an open position (to permit liquid to be dispensed from the pouring spout) to a position over the pouring spout to seal the pouring spout and the wall opening from the atmosphere. The cap is maintained in the open position by a portion of the pivoting mechanism engaging the top of the seal in a cam-like action.

Abstract: A tether adapted for use in a device for inflating and deflating an inflatable article. The device shown has a body affixed to a wall of the inflatable article at a hole therethrough, the device having a tubular insert or nipple sealed to the body and a closure element or plug functioning as a stopper for the nipple, the plug being completely removable from the nipple to deflate the article. The plug has threaded engagement with the nipple, and functions as an inflating check valve when the valve is opened by partially unscrewing the plug from the nipple. The inflation device incorporates a novel tether for the rotatable plug, the tether permitting free rotation of the plug with respect to the nipple, and the complete removal of the plug from the nipple while retaining it tethered, as during the deflation of the inflatable article.

Abstract: A safety dispensing cap for fluid containers is disclosed. The cap features a tubular discharge member, a tubular closing member for attaining a rotating overlying removable fit on the discharge member and an internal latching assembly which is activated or deactivated by rotation of the tubular closing member about the tubular discharge member. The latching assembly comprises an inwardly extending latching lug on the tubular closing member and an outwardly extending latching lug on the tubular discharge member. In the locked position, the discharge latching lug will overlie the closing latching lug thus preventing removal of the closing member from the discharge member. Unlatching of the two members is achieved by a rotation of the closing member until the closing member latching lug is no longer underneath the discharge member closing lug. An indexing assembly can also be provided which will hold the unlocked position.

Abstract: A closure for a container including a cover half with base and cover portions and a spout half with base and spout portions. A pouring orifice extends through the spout portion of the spout half. An integral hinge connects the cover half to the spout half so as to form an integral one-piece closure with the halves having been pivoted into engagement. Mating surfaces are on the bases of the cover and spout halves to facilitate cooperative interengagement therebetween and to form the closure with the cover in position for removable engagement with the spout so as to permit opening and closing of the pouring orifice as desired.
