Mortar Applying Machine Patents (Class 222/611.2)
  • Patent number: 8523467
Abstract: The present invention is directed generally to building tools that are high quality, durable, and in some case lightweight. For example, various tools may made by forming multiple sections into a single integrated piece by, for example, casting the parts using a molding process so as to reduce manufacturing cost and increase the structural durability of the tool. Further, various tools may be made, at least in part, using a material including magnesium to reduce the weight of the tool. Still further, various tools may be made using one or more protective coatings for protecting various metals against corrosion, for example, using a high impact coating such as paint covered with a clear coat of lacquer.

  • Patent number: 7743586
Abstract: A mortar applying machine incorporating housing, having a rotatable drive wheel mounted therein, the drive wheel adhered upon a pivot shaft located within the housing, and the drive wheel being disposed through the bottom of the housing for mortar and engagement with the surface of a row of blocks previously applied in the forming of a building wall. Fixedly mounted to the same shaft are a pair of paddles, formed of blades, which assure the proper shifting and movement of the fluid mortar into position within the housing, for passage out of its lower openings, and onto the transverse lands of the row of blocks as previously applied into the building wall. A diverter is provided within the housing to assure that the fluid mortar flows towards the front of the housing with respect to the direction of its movement when depositing a layer of mortar onto a previously laid row of blocks.

Abstract: A nozzle for applying filler material within a groove is provided that includes a plate member, an orifice through the plate member, a guide member for engaging the groove, and a pliable attachment. The orifice is in communication with a supply of the filler material. The guide member protrudes from the plate member and has a width less than the groove. The pliable attachment has a channel with an angled portion for directing the filler material into the groove. The nozzle may also be used independent from the attachment. Also provided is a method for applying filler material into the spaces between tiles. The method include steps directed to the preparation of the filler material, such as combining a cementitious material with a plasticizer in order to form an admixture that has a viscosity making it suitable for application through the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6260743
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing grout into joints formed between laterally adjacent floor tiles comprises a hopper for holding a quantity of grout mounted on a mobile frame assembly. The apparatus includes a plurality of nozzle assemblies coupled to the hopper through tubular channels. The nozzle assemblies are slidably coupled to a mounting bracket which extends parallel to the front of the frame assembly such that the lateral distance between the nozzle assemblies is adjustable to correspond to the lateral distance between the joints formed by various sizes of floor tiles. A rack and pinion assembly is connected to the mounting bracket such that the vertical distance between the nozzle assemblies and the floor tiles is also adjustable.
