  • Patent number: 5829649
Abstract: A machine for conditioning and dispensing loose fill insulation material, such as cellulosic insulation, fiber glass insulation and rock wool insulation. The machine includes a hopper, a conditioning chamber, an air lock and a blower for pneumatically dispensing the material. The conditioning chamber is equipped with three rotating shafts with helically arranged spikes which serve as conveyors as well as dispersers. A lower conveyor shaft moves the material toward the opening into the air lock, while the two uppermost conveyor shafts move the material in the opposite direction. Thus, the same assembly which conveys the material to the air lock also conditions the material. Moreover, the counter current flow pattern churns or agitates the insulation material while the individual spikes disperse it. A single motor drives the rotation of the conveyor shafts and the rotation of the vanes in the air lock.

Abstract: This invention is directed to an apparatus for filling powder which comprises introducing a predetermined amount of powder into each of the receiving holes formed at the peripheral edge portion of a rotary disk from a powder hopper, intermittently rotating the rotary disk, and discharging and filling the powder accommodated in each of the receiving holes into a powder container positioned therebelow when each of the receiving holes reaches a discharging and filling portion. The rotational axis (C) of the rotary disk (1) is inclined. The center axis of each of the receiving holes (8) is arranged on an imaginary conical surface (12) having this rotational axis (C) as its center axis and an apex angle (.theta.) of 60.degree. to 120.degree.. The powder hopper (6) is disposed on the lateral side portion of an opening (8a) of the receiving hole (8) at a vacuum sucking portion (9) and a boss portion (28) supporting the rotational axis (34) of the agitator (7) is arranged above the powder hopper (6).

  • Patent number: 5694794
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for repeated, automatic metering of precisely metered quantities of a powdered detergent into water-carrying cleaning machines, in particular household dishwashers and household washing machines, include a detergent holder and a metering and dispensing device having a movable metering device with at least one metering receptacle. The interior of the detergent holder and a guide of the metering and dispensing device are acted upon continuously by a stream of compressed air. Therefore, clumping of the highly hygroscopic powdered detergent and an expensive, complex apparatus, which requires a high drive torque and a high air pressure, are avoided. The metering device has only one metering receptacle. The metering and dispensing device has two chambers communicating with one another. The detergent fed into the first chamber is fed gradually, during the motion of the metering device, into the second chamber, which has an opening toward the treatment vessel.

  • Patent number: 5645379
Abstract: A rotary feed structure for a gunite-conveying machine includes a polymeric body to resist sticking of gunite even if the latter includes silica fume, and even if it has set. The body has chambers in a circle. Preferably the body is urethane, self-bonded to a Ni-hard wear plate to eliminate radial leakage, and the mounting, (typically holes for studs), at least in part, is integral with the plate. A metal axial spacer is preferably next to the plate, but only within the innermost radius of chambers and with a sizable wall thickness. The body is preferably a feed-bowl type, with chambers formed as generally U-shaped pockets. A gunite machine using the polymeric feed structure also has a hopper, delivery tube, support and rotation of the feed structure, compressed-air for expelling the particulate material from the chambers into the tube, and provision for transporting the hopper, tube, body, and other apparatus. Chambers are selectively sealed to the expelling device and delivery tube.

  • Patent number: 5480268
Abstract: A rotary airlock feeder is connected to transfer particulate material between a storage bin and a pneumatic convey line. The pneumatic convey line includes a pressure reducing orifice plate which produces a pressure differential in the convey line between the upstream and downstream sides of the orifice plate. Air from the upstream side flows into respective specially designed end plates of the feeder and the pressure differential between opposite sides of the orifice assures a steady purge air flow circumferentially around a pair of rotary shrouds and into the feeder. This steady air flow prevents particulate material or debris from entering cavities between the shrouds and the end plates and between the rotary shrouds and the housing walls and thus prevents such material from reaching the seals, shaft area, and bearings of the feeder and protects the rotary shrouds from premature abrasive wear.
