  • Patent number: 4885844
Abstract: Apparatus permitting factory tailored manufacture of clothing includes a body covering having measurement tapes which are worn by a person undergoing body measurement. Apparatus is also provided to measure crotch and armpit dimensions. The body dimensions of the person being measured are then inspected by a video camera having an output through a video cassette recorder and a computer capable of transmitting measurement date electronically to a remote location where it is received by receiving computer apparatus that converts the measurement signals to a wire frame representation of the exact body dimensions of the person. These body dimensions are then utilized for adjustment of an adjustable mannequin to the exact body dimensions of the person being measured. Thereafter, clothing is tailored to the adjustable mannequin and can then be delivered to the person without any necessity for additional adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4752021
Abstract: A garment display device having various adjustable features is provided for displaying historical garments in a realistic manner. The device employs telescoping members held upright by a weighted base. Adjustably positionable upon the telescoping members are a waist form member, a hip form member and a torso shape. The hip form member has a number of bendable elongated ribs radially emergent from a center hub on an upright telescoping member, and adapted to display a dress in proper deployment. The uppermost upright telescoping member is deformable in a manner to dispose the torso shape in various life-like poses.

  • Patent number: 4592496
Abstract: A pattern form having adjustable members mounted on an upright post. The adjustable members represent the neck and shoulder region, the bust region, the waist region, and the hip region of the person for whom a garment is to be made. The neck and shoulder member can be adjusted as to size of the neck and the width and the angle of droop of the shoulders. The bust, waist and hip members can be adjusted as to the size and shape of the waist and hips. Pattern elements of pellon material are mounted on the adjustable members after the members have been adjusted to the size of the person for whom the garment is to be made. The pattern members define outer surfaces on which conventional tissue paper patterns can be pinned in the making of a garment. Changes in the adjustment of the adjustable members can be made to compensate for changes in the size of the person from time to time.

  • Patent number: 4545514
Abstract: An upper torso frame includes a pair of vertical members with a waist well extending between and connected to the lower end portions of the vertical members. A shoulder member is positioned on the vertical members upper end portions. The shoulder member is connected to the upper ends of the vertical members for forward and backward pivotal movement. A pivot carrying link is connected by friction hinges at one end to each vertical member upper end portion and at the opposite end to the upper portion of an arm member so as to pivotally connect a pair of arm members to the upper torso frame. The pivot carrying link is pivotal on the torso frame and each arm member is pivotal on the pivot carrying link to thereby provide multiple degrees of pivotal movement of the arm members relative to the upper torso frame.

  • Patent number: 4493445
Abstract: A bodyform, in particular a dressform, wherein a central support carries opposed pairs of body sections which are adjustable in spacing by means of adjustment mechanisms mounted on the central support, which mechanism is operable by an operating rod projecting from the bodyform and which is rotatable about its axis to operate the adjustment mechanism and is axially displaceable to lock said mechanism in its adjusted position. A preferred adjustment mechanism comprises a pair of pushrods which drive opposed pairs of body sections equally and oppositely, these pushrods being engaged with opposite sides of a central cog thus enabling a driving gear on the operating rod to act on one of the pushrods only. The adjustment mechanism is accommodated in a housing which carries fixed teeth in spaced overlapping relationship to the teeth of the pushrod whereby opposite axial movement of the rod engage and disengage the gear from the fixed teeth while such gear remains in engagement with the pushrod.

  • Patent number: 4030645
Abstract: A form for displaying clothing designed to be worn on the upper portion of the human body, and having a torso-shaped section mounted on a stand and provided with removable arm sections. Each of the arm sections has a stud adjacent its upper end that is inclined laterally away from and downwardly with respect to the arm section, and the torso section has sockets that receive the studs and cooperate in guiding the arm sections into the desired position relative to the torso section. The arm sections are composed of relatively rigid material having slick outer surfaces shaped to the desired final shape of the arms of the clothing to be displayed. Thus, as the display form is dressed, the weight and slickness of the arm sections facilitate insertion of the sections in the clothing, and the cooperating studs and sockets position the arms in the desired positions relative to the torso section.
