  • Patent number: 5975385
Abstract: Adjustable hanger whose length conforms to the shoulder length of shirts, blouses, dresses, thereby eliminating unsightly stretch marks from fixed length hangers. The hanger's body contains a swiveling hook, a pinion, and right and left arms with built-in gear racks. A square-ended hook is held rotatably by its straight end in a cylindrical cavity in the central upper part of the body. A pinion with gear teeth is held rotatably by its head in another cylindrical cavity directly below the straight end of the hook. Pinion gear teeth engage the rack teeth of the left and right arms, which arms are radially shaped and are housed and guided in radial tracks in the body. By rotating the hook and simultaneously pushing it downwards into the body, the square end of the hook is made to enter the square hole of the pinion. Rotating the hook at this point will rotate the pinion whose teeth will pull the left and right arms to move radially in the tracks of the body.

  • Patent number: 4894935
Abstract: A board is vertically mountable to a wall or door and features an upwards extending support structure to which a garment hanger support bracket is attached. The garment hanger support bracket is itself vertically adjustable to permit hangers to be supported relatively higher or lower with respect to the board. A vertical adjustment of the bracket consequently allows respectively longer or shorter garments to be hung in a substantially centered position in front of the board. In addition the garment hanger support bracket features a plurality of vertically spaced hanger support recesses which allow a garment to be vertically relocated during a steaming operation without the need to vertically readjust the garment hanger support bracket itself. This latter feature permits a garment to be vertically shifted to bring wrinkles in upper and lower portions of the garment to a convenient working height.

  • Patent number: 4739912
Abstract: A hanger is made with a molded plastic body and a metal hook. The body has a vertical hole to receive the shank of the hook. The lower end of the hole communicates with an opening or pocket in the hanger body. The shank of the hook is provided with a diametrically enlarged head, the end of which is tapered. The cylindrical diameter of the shank is less than that of the hole and the diameter of the head is more than that of the hole. The hook is assembled by forcing or plunging the head and shank through the hole until the head seats in the opening. The resilience of the plastic of the hanger body restores the hole to its original diameter and a substantially radial shoulder formed by the top of the head seats against the top of the opening about the end of the hole supporting the body on and for free rotation about the hook.

  • Patent number: 4653678
Abstract: A hanger of molded plastic body construction has an integral hook anchor for an auxiliary hanger depending from the body of the hanger below and in vertical alignment with the hanger's support hook. The hook anchor has an internal chamber defined by front, back and bottom walls. The chamber is open at both ends and has a height substantially greater than the material thickness of the auxiliary hook to be secured in it. One of the front or rear walls has a horizontal slot providing access to the chamber for the hook of the auxiliary hanger. The slot is spaced above the bottom of the chamber to create a retaining lip for a hook seated in the chamber. In addition, means are provided to restrain the hook from leaving the chamber unless the removal is intentional and forcible.

  • Patent number: 4624396
Abstract: A garment hanger provides both ease of carriage of a heavy and/or bulky garment and significant aesthetic opportunities. A hook is flexibly engaged to the hanger body by means of a ball-and-socket joint formed by a spherical male element associated with the hook and an ellipsoidal female cavity associated with the hanger body. The hanger body includes transversely oriented means for engaging an ornamental sign. The molded plastic of the hanger is readily adapted to impregnation with selected volatile agents and/or ornamentation. Alternatively, an elongated cavity may be provided in a lower transverse member of the hanger body for accommodating preselected elements.
