Abstract: A rack is provided for pickup trucks to mount a bicycle on top of the vertical side rails of the cargo bed. The rack includes a "C" shaped brace that attaches to and reinforces the front rail and side rail of the cargo bed. A diagonal support is attached between the two outer legs of the brace and a vertical support extends upward from the center of the diagonal support. A hollow shaft passes through the upper end of the vertical support and is reinforced with a concentric square tube. A bicycle wheel quick release is attached through the hollow shaft to enable a bicycle front fork to be attached. A channel with a "U" shaped cross section is attached to the top of the side rail at a position to receive the bicycle rear wheel which is secured with a strap.

Abstract: A gun rack for safely securing weapons which can be readily removed in an emergency. The securing mechanism is comprised of a pair of locking arms that are disposed over weapon-carrying cradles. Means are provided to lock the arms in this position. Key means are provided to unlock the arms and a movement of the arms sideways for less than an inch frees the weapons for removal. Guard means are provided for protecting the trigger mechanism while the weapon is in the rack.

Abstract: An apparatus for extending a pickup truck bed includes a removable frame that can be connected to the pickup truck bumper or its hitch receiver. The frame includes a longitudinal beam that extends away from the truck bed during use, forming a connection with the receiver. A transverse beam is structurally attached to the distal end of the longitudinal beam and extends about the width of the pickup truck bed. Left and right side wall extension members are mounted respectively on opposite sides of the transverse beams, each side wall extension member being rectangular and having front and rear vertical edges and a lower edge that conforms to the plane of the bed. The frame provides an open area that allows the pickup truck tailgate to be lowered to define an extension of the load carrying surface of the bed. An auxiliary tailgate is pivotally attached to the transverse beam and is movable between open and closed positions.

Abstract: A knockdown telescopically expandable elevated utility rack for pickup trucks is formed by forward and rearward H-shaped stanchions and stanchion post receiving brackets overlying pickup bed side walls. A forward stanchion panel and a rearward stanchion bottom rail forms a horizontal load support adjacent the upper limit of pickup bed side walls and a side rail assembly overlying the upper limit of the stanchions and the pickup cab forms an elevated load supporting platform.

Abstract: A bicycle rack is provided for use with trucks having a cargo box particularly of the type for use with a pick-up truck. The bicycle rack can carry a number of bicycles in an upright position in the cargo box of a truck, secures the bicycle without having to part the wheel from the bicycle or use clamps or straps to restrain the bicycle, can carry bicycles of different sizes, and can be adjusted to fit different makes and sizes of trucks. The bicycle rack comprises a cross member, having stakes at each end for fixing it to the side walls of the truck box, and forks for holding one or more bicycles in place.

Abstract: A container (20) suitable for use as a truck box for a pick-up truck, includes a base container portion (21) having an open top, and a cover (22) to close the open top. The cover (22) is pivotally attached to the base (21) by hinge mechanisms (23) which are uniquely formed by combining a hinge pin assembly (101) with a pin retaining assembly (102). The cover (22) may also be latched to the base (21) by a latch assembly (24) which includes pivotable handles (56, 57) on each end of the base (21) which, when either is pivoted, rotates latch hooks (68, 74) from a position engaging the cover (22) to a position releasing the cover, without moving the other handle. The container (20) may also receive a tray (150) therein positionable on a ledge (30) and positively located in one direction by ribs (159) and in the other direction by feet (162) positioned in depressions (38) formed between ribs (37) on the inside of the base (21).

Abstract: A removable rack system provides the ability to carry elongated loads and is easily and simply installed and removed without the use of special tools or other equipment. The rack system includes a rear rack having a hitch tongue which is releasably connected to a conventional hitch receiver of the truck. A center post extends upward from the hitch tongue and supports a cross member at its upper end. The cross member may be of such a height that it can be used in conjunction with a removable front rack located near the cab of the truck. The front rack can support elongated loads that extend above the cab of the truck.

Abstract: A elongated article carrier is provided for releasably affixing on the bed of a pickup truck. The elongated article carrier includes a longitudinal member supported by vertical posts and two parallel transverse bars allow two or more canoes to be securely and releasably attached during transportation. The elongated article carrier is lightweight and can be lifted and installed by a single adult.

Abstract: In order to partition a storage area of a vehicle so that bags of groceries and the like can be arranged in a neat orderly manner, a space organizer includes a backboard which extends laterally across the storage area and at least two wing-like partition members which can be either fixed or hinged and which partition a given area of the storage area into three cells or sub-areas for bags and the like. A lid member can be provided to enclose at least the top of the center cell and in the case where the partition members are hingedly connected to the backboard a bungee cord can be used to retain the two partition members in desired space dividing positions.

Abstract: A cargo box is provided that is installed between the bed and cap of a pickup. The cargo box includes a lid, sides, and a back panel, with the lid being hingably mounted to the cab. The cargo box extends laterally across the width of the bed and forms a sealed chamber to isolate its contents from the environment. The rear side of the cargo box and the front side of the bed include aligned openings therethrough to receive long items. The front of the box includes an opening to allow an individual within the cab access to the contents of the box.

Abstract: An elegantly simple bicycle storage rack that can be mounted or demounted quickly and easily from the cargo area of pick-up trucks. The rack is comprised of a lower tubular base and an upper tubular member joined by a plurality of upright posts spaced by slots for bicycle wheels. The lower tubular base fits comfortably in the foremost corner of the cargo area of the pick-up truck. The upper tubular member is secured to the sides of the pick-up truck with straps, cords or wires. A bicycle is held securely in the rack by a c-shaped hook or clamp that fits around the steering neck, frame of bicycle frame mounting and is secured with a specially designed locknut. No additional, straps, nuts, locks or other devices are needed to securely hold the bicycle in the rack. The bicycle storage rack is also constructed to be easily mounted on a surface platform when not in use in the back of a pick-up truck.

Abstract: A carrier rack device for delivering replacement windshields for automotive vehicles, panels of flat glass, or other types of panels outside of and to the rear of an automotive vehicle, such as a conventional pickup truck, is constructed to be cantilevered from attachment to the rear of the vehicle. In one form of the invention, the device attaches to the usual trailer hitch of the vehicle. In another form, the device attaches directly to the tailgate of a truck, usually a conventional pickup truck. In both forms, a pair of laterally spaced, elongate carrier parts extend from securement to the rear of the vehicle so as to extend longitudinally rearwardly for receiving therebetween the panels to be carried in-conventional receiving pockets. One form is more versatile than the other in its provision of separate carrier parts, each having mounting structure components that telescope in selectively different ways into attachment with other mounting structure to serve different purposes.

Abstract: A adjustable bed extender which is attachable to the receiver orifice of a standard receiver hitch is disclosed. The device provides support for loads which extend beyond the bed of a truck or any vehicle having a bed. The device includes a drawbar which fits into the receiver orifice of the hitch already permanently to the vehicle, a support assembly which supports the load, and an adjustable connection between the support assembly and drawbar for adjusting the height of the support assembly for different vehicle models and tailgate configuration.
