Abstract: A wheelchair armrest storage system may include a housing for a wheelchair, where: the housing includes a proximal portion, a distal portion, a first lateral side, and a second lateral side, the housing extends longitudinally between the proximal portion and the distal portion, and at least one cover receiving cavity is defined in each of the first lateral side and the second lateral side. The wheelchair armrest storage system may further include a storage area defined within the housing, and a cover configured to translate within each of the at least one cover receiving cavity defined in each of the first lateral side and the second lateral side.

Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly having a wheelchair and a wheelchair rigging receptacle. The wheelchair may include an appendage support rigging that is releasably affixed to the frame and configured to support a user's appendage, e.g. foot, when in use. The assembly also provides at least one receptacle configured to retain the appendage support rigging within, when the appendage support rigging is not affixed to the frame. The receptacle may comprise two opposing flexible side walls, a rear wall extending between the side walls, and a bottom extending between a lower edge of the walls to define an interior cavity between an inner surface of the wall and the base that has a width approximately equal to a width of the appendage support rigging. The receptacle also includes at least one mounting device to affix the receptacle to the anti-tip bar of the wheelchair at the rear of the seating surface.

Abstract: A shopping basket assembly for carrying shopping items on a wheelchair includes a wheelchair that has a pair of handles for gripping to roll the wheelchair. A pair of sleeves is provided and each of the sleeves is slidably positioned on a respective one of the handles on the wheelchair. A panel is provided and each of the sleeves is coupled to the panel. Thus, the panel extends downwardly from the handles when the sleeves are positioned on the handles. A pair of baskets is each coupled to the panel to support shopping items positioned in the baskets.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a beverage heating and cooling assembly is provided which includes a collar and beverage retainer assembly for connection to retain the assembly below a mounting substrate. The beverage retainer assembly may include a housing with an active heating or cooling system, such as a thermoelectric engine, which is positioned within or adjacent to the housing and beneath the mounting substrate or similar planar structure. The assembly allows for a clean installation of an active thermal system for beverages in order to keep the beverages cold or warm as desired.

Abstract: A pushcart according to the present disclosure provides a warning on the basis of a first weight at a position outside a region between a shaft of front wheels and a shaft of rear wheels when viewed from the vertical direction and a predetermined weight. For example, the predetermined weight is the weight on a mounting portion located between the shaft of the front wheels and the shaft of the rear wheels when viewed from the vertical direction. When the first weight is larger than the predetermined weight, an informing unit can provide a warning by using a sound, light, and the like and enable a user to recognize that there is a possibility that the pushcart will turn over.

Abstract: An early warning method and a device for preventing a wheelchair from tipping over are described. The early warning method includes projecting a laser light pattern, scanning the laser light pattern, making a comparison to determine whether the ground is a barrier terrain, and issuing an early warning to the user in situations of risk. The laser light pattern is projected onto the ground and compared with a standard pattern. The early warning is generated and is one selected from a group consisting of a beep, a warning message and a vibration to alert the wheelchair user to the danger of the barrier terrain.

Abstract: There is provided a meal-serving stock shelf-equipped wheelchair, with which the wheelchair user can efficiently perform meal-serving work when charged with the work, and in which the stock shelf is capable of being folded in a compact manner after the meal serving. The meal-serving motorized wheelchair includes: a wheelchair meal-serving table that is attached via a frame; and a meal-serving stock shelf that is engaged with an engaging plate via an engaging portion. The meal-serving stock shelf is structured by a raising and lowering mechanism powered by a motor and a dish tray storage section. The dish tray storage section stores dish trays of at least two levels disposed at a predetermined interval. The stock shelf can be folded in a compact manner when not in use.

Abstract: This invention relates to a multi-purpose article carrier for a personal mobility vehicle, such as a motorized mobility scooter or other powered mobility vehicle, of the type used to transport a disabled person. The present invention provides a light weight, easily installed and removable means whereby the user can easily and temporarily expand the carrying capacity of the personal mobility vehicle. The present invention does not appreciably add to the wind resistance, does not damage the vehicle, and is easy to drive and maneuver, since no portion of the device touches the ground while the vehicle is moving, and is easy to store when not in use.

Abstract: An oxygen, or other type of, bottle holder is attached to a medical device and includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion includes a cylindrical recess into which the bottom of the bottle is inserted. The upper portion includes a clamp that may include either a movable arm or movable fingers. The movable fingers pivot about a common pivot axis and are retractable into, and extendable out of, a housing. The movable arm includes different sections with different levels of curvature. A trigger may be included that automatically opens the clamp upon the insertion of the bottle therein, as well as automatic closing of the clamp thereafter, thereby relieving the user from having to manually manipulate the clamp for it to secure the upper end of the bottle. The device may be wheeled chair, cot, stretcher, bed, or other device that holds an oxygen bottle.

Abstract: A holder for snacks and drinks, in one embodiment adapted to be secured by clamping to a child safety car seat in a vehicle, to a stroller, or to a shopping cart handle, as examples. The holder includes a main body having a front side and a rear side and supporting at least one receptacle for holding food or a drink. A clamp assembly is connected to the main body. The clamp assembly includes a pair of jaws movable relative to each other located generally on the rear side of the main body, and an adjustment knob located generally on the front side of the main body.

Abstract: An adapter bracket for supporting a saddle bag on a motorcycle. A strut for securing a rear motorcycle fender includes a vertical section, a lower horizontal section, and an upper horizontal section. The vertical section has bolts extending through it for attachment to the fender. The adapter bracket includes a lower attachment portion with bores, an intermediate strut coupling portion, and an upper connection plate with an aperture. One of the fender bolts is removed, and the coupling portion is slid over the lower horizontal section of the strut from the strut's inner side. The aperture in the connection plate is aligned with the hole in the strut corresponding to the removed bolt. The bolt is reinstalled, securing the strut, bracket, and fender together. An inner sidewall of the saddle bag provided with a backing plate, and bolts secure the backing plate, the inner sidewall, and the attachment portion together.

Abstract: An oxygen storage cylinder is stored in an interior cabin of an aircraft by providing a generally cylindrical envelope of flexible material receiving the cylinder therein and securing the envelope to a fixed seat frame. Circumferential straps are secured to a cylindrical wall portion of the envelope at spaced apart positions along the length thereof for securing the envelope and cylinder therein to an elongate frame member of the seat frame. End straps secured to intersecting frame members prevent longitudinal sliding of the envelope and cylinder therein relative to the elongate frame member of the fixed seat frame. The envelope protects the cylinder from direct contact with the frame to prevent friction or vibration damage to the cylinder while fixing the position of the cylinder in the interior cabin for the safety of surrounding passengers in the event of turbulence.

Abstract: A transfer device for moving a personal storage container from a storage position at the rear of a wheelchair to a deployed position at a side of the wheelchair. The device includes a bracket adapted to be mounted to the backrest frame and a swivel mechanism with a first hinge leaf rotationally mounted to the bracket for rotation about a first axis and a second hinge leaf rotationally mounted to the first hinge leaf about a second axis spaced apart from the first axis. The second hinge leaf has a portion adapted to mount the personal storage container. The portion adapted to mount the personal storage container moves along an arc contained within a plane between the storage and the deployed positions, and the first and second axes are normal to the plane. A personal storage container assembly is also provided.

Abstract: An adjustable accessory for attachment to a mobile device that enhances mobility of an individual and method of assembling same. In one embodiment, the adjustable accessory comprises a frame including a movable platform for adjusting height of a container thereon, such as an oxygen bottle. The adjustable accessory further comprises an adjustable strap connected to the frame and relocatable thereon, which strap at least partially encircles the container for adjustably securing containers of various diameters to the frame. The frame is adapted to be connected to the mobile device, which may be a wheelchair, walker, vehicle seat or other supporting structure. In this manner, an individual requiring a supply of oxygen due to a breathing ailment can suitable use the supply of oxygen while traveling in the mobile device.

Abstract: A combined luggage bag and walker assembly having side frame elements. Forward wheels are affixed to the bottom each of the side frame elements. Handles are coupled to the top end of the side frame elements. Two leg elements are pivotably connected to the side frame elements at pivot connections. The leg elements are free to rotate about the pivot connections between a closed configuration and an open configuration. Linkages lock the leg elements into their open configuration. Rearward wheels are coupled to each of the leg elements proximate its free end. A luggage bag is attached between the side frame elements. A confined area exists behind the luggage bag. The confined area is defined by the luggage bag in front and the leg elements on either side. A person needing the assistance of a walker stands and walks in the confined area while grasping the handles.

Abstract: Disclosed is a container carrier that mounts on a walker device or the like to pivot from the interior to the exterior of the device so that the interior of the device is not obstructed, and the required clearance of the device in restricted spaces is not substantially increased. The container carrier has a flexible mounting capacity, accommodates various sizes and shapes of containers, and is assembled from parts that are inexpensive to manufacture.

Abstract: A storage apparatus (10) attachable to a wheelchair (44) is pivotable and slidable from a storage position against the back of a wheelchair backrest to an access position adjacent to a wheelchair armrest. Pivoting and sliding is accomplished under power of an operator with the storage apparatus and slide mechanism (11) rotating substantially 90 degrees around vertical pivot member (30) and then sliding on a block member (18). A handle (24) is used to aide with the movement of the storage apparatus and to operate a locking mechanism (28), which secures the storage apparatus in access and storage positions.

Abstract: A rectangular enclosing container with dimensions to accommodate a typical hospital chart is open at the top for insertion and removal of the chart, and has an arcuate slot in the front face to facilitate access to the chart. From the top rear face of the container extend one or more means, such as hooks, for attaching the container to a patient bed, gurney or stretcher. The container is fabricated from a hard, non-porous material, such as plastic, that is wipe-down cleanable. The material forming the container is opaque or darkly translucent so as to protect the privacy of the patient's medical data. The attachment means assures that the chart will always be readily accessible, and the access slot provides for easy insertion and removal of the chart from the container. The non-porous, wipe-down cleanable surfaces of the receptacle prevent the spread of pathogens during the handling and transport of the patient chart.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for preventing loss of one or more wheelchair foot pedals are disclosed. In one embodiment, a device for use with one or more wheelchair foot pedals includes a body comprising a storage portion. The device can further include at least one tethering device disposed within the body, the tethering device having a first connecting member connected to at least a first wheelchair foot pedal. The first wheelchair foot pedal can be movable from an attached position to a detached position. The first wheelchair foot pedal can be secured and/or placed into the storage portion of the apparatus when in the detached position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a holder for items such as a cane or umbrella which attaches to a wheelchair or walker to allow easy access to the items when required for use. The present invention provides a utility holder comprising a tubular body extending vertically with a hollowed center, an opening at a top portion of the tubular body where the opening enables the tubular body to accept an elongated item, a cap attached to a base of the tubular body, and a set of attachment means affixed to the tubular body wherein the set of attachment means enable the tubular body to attach to a mobility assistance device and carry the elongated item.

Abstract: A beverage holder attachment for a crutch has an annular cup holder portion and two molded C-shaped protrusions for snapping onto two side rails of a crutch. The cup holder has a vertical slot on the outside to accommodate a handle of a mug or cup. The cup holder sits in between the two rails of the crutch below the hand bar so that it does not interfere with the use of the hand bar. The cup holder is tilted slightly to avoid spillage on the user of the crutches, so that any coffee drips will spill on the outside of the crutch. The beverage holder can be snapped onto the crutch side rails to carry beverages or other objects around the home or office while on crutches. The beverage holder can be made out of plastic, rubber or any other molded material that will snap onto the crutch.

Abstract: An injury protection device for attachment over foot rest brackets on the front legs of a wheelchair includes a generally rectangular main body having an outer case constructed of a durable soft fabric material and defining a top side and a bottom side. An interior pocket formed between the top side and bottom side of the outer case is filled with a central core of premium densified batting sandwiched between upper and lower layers of polyester batting. An arrangement of tacking stitches made from the top side to the bottom side of the outer case increase flexibility of the main body and provide bend points to promote contoured wrapping of the main body around the front leg and foot rest brackets on a wheelchair, while also stabilizing the batting material fillers. A pair of straps extend from a side of the main body and include a component of a hook and loop fastener on one side for relaseable attachment with a mating component of a hook and loop fastener on the exterior top side of the case.

Abstract: A device is disclosed for detachably coupling an oxygen bottle to an ambulance cot such that they are transportable together as a unit. The device fits between a pair of support legs of the cot, and is adjustable to accommodate oxygen bottles of various sizes.

Abstract: A walker is fitted with a utility bag having pockets on both a front side and a rear side of the bag. Panels are removably attached to the front of the bag. Each one of the panels of a set of panels provides utility messages and illustrations to improve the navigation and safety of the walker most importantly, when the user has poor vision or hearing. The panels may also have illustrations related to sports, hobbies, and serious messages. Generally, the panels provide a novel approach to personalizing the walker.

The tray includes a generally rigid tray base having an essentially rectangular shape with a front long side, a back long side, a first short side and a second short side, and wherein the tray has a length that extends to or past the essentially horizontal support member; a ridge extending along the sides of the tray, wherein the ridge has a height of at least about a ½ inch; a strap having a hook and loop fastener wherein the strap is positioned at or near the back long end; and a first hinge and a second hinge, the first and second hinges are positioned, when the tray is in use, at or near the front leg of the first and second support, respectively. The length of the tray is greater that the distance between the support member of the first support and the support member of the second support; and the width of the tray is less than the length of the support member of the first support or second support.

Abstract: A carrier for carrying goods for an invalid vehicle, such as a wheelchair, having a seat. The carrier has a basket support and a foldable basket with a back wall. The basket support has vehicle connectors for detachably connecting the basket support to the vehicle with the support behind the seat. The basket support also has basket connectors for detachably connecting the basket to the support with its back wall against the support. The basket can be detached from the basket support and used alone. The support, with or without the basket attached to it, can be detached from the wheelchair when the wheelchair is to be folded.

Abstract: Embodiments of devices for securing a personal-transport vehicle to a mounting surface can include features that (i) permit the personal-transport vehicle to be released from the device by manually depressing a pushbutton on the device; (ii) facilitate adjustment of the position of the device in relation to the mounting surface; and/or (iii) prevent the personal-transport vehicle from being released in an unsafe manner.

Abstract: A device to help an individual with a disability carry his or her bag or storage unit on their wheelchair or other mobility device, without requiring a large space to deploy the storage and retrieval product. The invention consists of a set of arms, connected to a sliding mechanism along a track. When the user wishes to access his or her belongings, the bag slides from a storage position behind the wheelchair to a retrieval position perpendicular to the wheelchair's armrest. The deployment process is accomplished without rotating the entire mechanism around a central axis. Thus, the invention keeps the storage unit close to the wheelchair and therefore takes up less space during retrieval and increases stability during deployment.

Abstract: The present area of technology provides a device that may releasably hold an elongated cylindrical object such as a walking cane, a crutch, or a pole in a fixed position. The device is removably attached to the walking cane itself by a pair of elongated straps and provides positive clamping means to hold the cane against a stationary structure. The device has a handle that opens the clamp, which is inserted onto a planar structure to firmly hold a walking cane in position. In one aspect of the technology, the device is suitable for use with walking canes of various diameters. The technology also provides a coating to aid in the retention of the walking cane and to prevent slippage of the walking cane while the cane is disposed through a cylindrical portion of the cane holder.

The outer telescopic rail is adapted with a strike, mating with a catch adapted to the wheelchair-connecting member, while the inner telescopic rail is adapted with an upper hinge portion mating with a lower hinge portion adapted to an opposing wheelchair-connecting member. A catch release disengages the strike to allow the rail and basket assembly to be rotated on a vertical axis toward the side of said wheelchair, and the basket can thus be extended toward the front of said chair, making access to said basket easy and convenient.

The inverted pocket may be coupled with the storage container, and may couple the storage container with a chair when at least some portion of the back of the chair is inserted into the inverted pocket.

Abstract: A pivoting wheelchair backpack holder is provided. The pivoting wheelchair backpack includes a lever rod and a swing-out handle to move the lever rod, a frame moved by the lever rod, and a backpack attached to the frame. In its closed position, the backpack rests behind the user sitting in the wheelchair with the handle positioned flush to the side of the wheelchair. The user grabs the handle from its resting position, locks the handle into place against the lever rod, and pulls the handle to move the lever rod. The lever rod opens the frame, which then moves from the back of the wheelchair to the side of the wheelchair. A second hinged joint between the lever rod and frame allows the user to pull the backpack down toward the user. The user can access the backpack now at his or her side. The user can close the frame by pushing the frame back up, moving the handle in the opposite direction and replacing the handle to its resting position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to personal storage devices that are adapted to interconnection to personal mobility devices such as wheelchairs. In one embodiment an accessory bag is interconnected to a docking station with a tethering device that may stretch or be retractable.

Abstract: A Wheelchair Umbrella Holster is disclosed. The invention can be either an attachment to a legacy wheelchair, or incorporated as original equipment into a wheelchair of virtually any style. The holster has an elongate tube secured to the wheelchair such that it extends upwardly and has an open upper mouth. The upper mouth is configured to accept the handle of an umbrella therein. The holster should also have an open mouth at its lower end to prevent the accumulation of water, dirt or other materials in the bottom of the holster. The holster may be attached to the wheelchair with a plurality of cable ties or other lashing devices. Finally, the holster tube will be bisected by a stop member passing through the inner void within the tube to prevent the umbrella handle from dropping down into the lower chamber inside the holster's tube.

The shaft portion is substantially linear and of a length proportioned to be substantially coextensive with a shaft of a monopod cane. Abstract: A holder with an integral gripper for transporting a flexible pouch during manufacturing is provided that includes a base plate, and a pair of opposed support members pivotally attached to the base plate. Each support member includes an upper leg member having a gripping means and a lower leg member. A moveable plate is parallel to and spaced apart from the base member by a spring member, and the moveable plate supports an outer end of the lower leg of the support member, so that walls of a flexible pouch are held in tension when the flexible pouch is supported by the gripping means. The walls of the flexible pouch are separated when the support members are pivoted inwardly.

Abstract: A leg abductor assembly includes a housing that has a bottom wall and a peripheral wall that is attached to and extends upwardly from the bottom wall. The peripheral wall includes a pair of side walls and a pair of end walls. A cover is hingedly coupled to the upper edge for selectively opening or closing the opening. A bracket is attached to the bottom wall. The bracket is configured to removably couple the housing to a front edge of a wheelchair.

Abstract: A walker for assisting physically challenged persons to move around. The walker comprises a frame with wheels mounted on it for traveling over a surface. Oxygen tank supports are mounted on the seat and are adapted to receive oxygen bottles therein. A counterbalance is mounted on the frame to counteract the weight of any oxygen bottles received in the tank supports and thereby maintain the stability and balance of the walker.

Abstract: A walking cane device which supports a basket (2) and lid (7), permitting a storage area to transport objects. A support ring (4) and support columns (3) are secured to the shaft of the cane (1). The support columns (3) extend upwards and slightly outward of the shaft and along the sides of the basket (2), securing and stabilizing the basket (2) in place. A lid (7) is attached to the basket (2) by means of the attachment of the loops (6) to fasteners (5).

The accessory includes an upright wall having a floor portion and terminating in an upper access opening. The upright wall is fabricated from cloth to provide a flexible container with the central portion being fabricated from netting to permit a viewing of the interior of the container. Velcro strips at the top and bottom portions permit a detachable connection of the container to the frame and handle grips of the stroller or wheelchair. A rigid floor support member is received within pockets formed on the exterior surface of the floor portion. The floor support member includes wheels to engage the ground and support the weight of any objects within the container. The container can be folded into a compact transport configuration for easy storage when not in use.

Abstract: The carrying bag assembly of the present invention is designed to be detachably securable with respect to the structural bar of a disability aiding device such as a walker which includes a carrying bag with an enclosure for holding items therein and a bag handle. The bag handle preferably includes first and second handle straps. A handle retaining means is securable to the handle and can secure the two straps of the handle together by an inner attachment device which extends around the bag handle for securement thereto.
