  • Patent number: 6626423
Abstract: A combination for use with a vehicle jack constructed and arranged to affect raising and lowering movements of the vehicle. The combination comprises an elongated rigid jack operating tool and a longitudinal entry tool retainer. The tool retainer is fixedly mounted to the vehicle. The tool retainer has a tool receiving space and a resiliently movable tool engaging structure providing a tool engaging surface. The tool and the tool retainer enable the tool to be mounted to the tool retainer by moving the tool in the longitudinal direction into the tool receiving space. The tool contacts the tool engaging structure and urges the tool engaging structure against the resiliency thereof to accommodate ingress of the tool into the tool receiving space. The tool engaging structure thereafter forcibly engages the tool engaging surface against an exterior surface of the tool to frictionally inhibit movement of the tool in the longitudinal direction thereof.

Abstract: An adapter bracket for use with a vehicle article carrier side rail to allow the side rail to be secured to channels formed in an outer body surface of the vehicle. The adapter bracket includes a channel coupling portion adapted to be secured to a bottom wall of the channel. An intermediate portion extends from the channel coupling portion to perpendicularly extending flanges of an outer surface portion. The flanges of the outer surface portion are coupled to the support foot of the side rail to allow the support foot to be mounted essentially flush against the outer body surface without the need for drilling additional holes outside of the channel. The adapter bracket thus allows a conventional elevated side rail to be quickly and easily secured to an existing channel formed in the outer body surface of a vehicle roof.

Abstract: A cantilevered member mounted at a first end to the base and extending cantilevered from the base to an opposite second end, opposite to the first end, and a cross-member mounted to the second end of the cantilevered member, the cross-member having opposite first and second ends. The cantilevered member may be releasably pivotally mounted to the base so as to be selectively angularly positionable relative to the base. A rigid first arm is pivotally and slidably mounted to the first end of the cross member. A rigid second arm is pivotally and slidably mounted to the second end of the cross-member. The first and second arms are parallel to the cross-member and mounted for sliding and pivoting in a plane parallel to a plane containing the cross-member.

  • Patent number: 6386413
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for mounting a computer system in a vehicle provides for rigid mounting of a computer/display unit in the vehicle so as to reduce or eliminate the adverse effects of vibration caused by operation of the vehicle. The latter advantage is achieved by provision of a gas spring and crank arm arrangement connected to an L-bar, the latter being mounted via its lower, horizontal member to a base plate of the vehicle. The apparatus and method also provide superior flexibility in orientation of the keyboard for use by any occupant of the front of the vehicle. The latter advantage is achieved by mounting the keyboard to the L-bar via a rigid arm having two points of rotation, one point of rotation at its point of connection to the L-bar, and another point of rotation at its point of connection to the keyboard.
