  • Patent number: 5195667
Abstract: A device for suspending T-shaped tools from a belt, toolbox, wall, or other mount, comprising a flat attachment material and a rotating holder body which secures the tool while allowing the tool to be inserted and removed from different angles. In order to ensure that the holder body stays in a useful position, its swing is limited by two stops which act as brakes and are affixed so as to protrude perpendicularly from the attachment material. The invention is designed so that after the tool is inserted into the holder, the head of the tool remains secured by the cantilevering action of a spring-loaded clip against a dead-lock arm extending downwards from the holder body. The opposite end of the tool rests on an L-shaped extending at right angles from the attachment material. The tool is removed by the natural motion of grasping the handle and swinging upwards. This results in the tool being held in an immediately usable manner as it is withdrawn from the holder.

  • Patent number: 5176302
Abstract: A holder for the handle of a container comprises a substantially rigid, continuous wire-like member bent to form a belt receiving portion and an integral handle receiving portion. The belt receiving portion stabilizes the position of the holder and the handle receiving portion is provided with first and second locking portions through which the container handle must pass before resting at the bottom of the handle receiving portion. The container is thus maintained in a stable, convenient position when the wearer is moving his body and/or walking, freeing the user's hands for other operations while at the same time permitting convenient access to the contents of the can and further providing a sturdy and yet small and lightweight holder.

  • Patent number: 5163592
Abstract: A knife and sheath combination including a pivotable mount, whereby, the sheath when empty hangs from the belt with its knife opening facing upward, however, when the knife is inserted into the sheath, the weight of the knife handle causes the sheath to revolve on its mount to a position wherein the knife opening faces downward. This arrangement allows the user to quick-draw the knife with a downward motion but may re-sheath the knife from the top position.

  • Patent number: 5100037
Abstract: A tape rule holder of the type used by carpenters, plumbers, electricians and other trades persons formed from two die cut flat pieces of heavy duty, top grain saddle leather. The back piece of the tape rule holder includes belt slots in its upper section. The front piece or pocket-forming member of the tape rule holder is configured in its flat pre-assembly form with peripheral side rivet areas and a bottom rivet area, each defined by a fold line. When the front piece is riveted to the back piece there is formed a tape rule pocket comprising a front wall, side walls and a bottom wall and the side walls present on their inner portion side pocket pressure detent ridges. A leather strap member is affixed to the back piece and has a forwardly arched portion within the tape rule pocket to form an inner back pressure ridge which together with the side detent ridges apply pressure to a tape rule inserted into the leather tape rule holder to grip and maintain the tape rule therein against accidental dislodgement.

  • Patent number: 5038985
Abstract: The adjustable tape measure clip includes a strip of spring steel folded over to form a primary spring with opposing leaves, the inner leaf being adapted for attachment to the case of the tape measure. The inner leaf includes a secondary spring for adjusting the spring force of the primary spring on the leaves of the clip. A mounting screw, which mounts the spring clip onto the case of the tape measure, also engages the secondary spring on the inner leaf to adjust the secondary spring force on the primary spring. As the screw is rotated, the secondary spring varies the primary spring force and thus adjusts the free clip width between the leaves to either increase or decrease the gripping pressure of the clip on the user's apparel.
