  • Patent number: 11407607
Abstract: The dispenser may include a housing that includes an inner cavity for select reception and retention of a tape ribbon. A cap may be movable between a closed position to enclose the inner cavity and the tape ribbon therein and an open position providing access to the tape ribbon in the inner cavity of the housing. Furthermore, the dispenser may also include a dispense channel having a size and shape for selectively dispensing the tape ribbon out from within the inner cavity when the cap is in the closed position. Moreover, a safety wall may extend outwardly from the dispense channel and form an enclosure shielding opposite sides of a free end of the tape ribbon extending through the dispense channel, while permitting front on hand access of the free end for continued select dispensing.

  • Patent number: 11230452
Abstract: A smart toilet paper dispenser comprises a powered paper dispenser, an enclosure, a plurality of drawers, and a top surface. The smart toilet paper dispenser receives user input and in response dispenses a predetermined amount of paper. The user input is motion detected by a motion sensor, a voice command detected by a microphone, or touch detected by a push button. A switch allows a user to select one of multiple paper lengths dispensed by the smart toilet paper dispenser. The top surface comprises a non-slip surface and includes a plurality of ridges and a raised perimeter to prevent items placed thereupon from rolling. The top surface includes a groove large enough to accommodate a user's device. Storage drawers are included, one of which holds trash bags. A novel smart toilet paper dispenser allows easier, touchless operation of the device and removes one touchpoint by which pathogens are transmitted.

  • Patent number: 11036007
Abstract: A fiber cleaver (100) for cleaving an optical fiber (106). A monobloc fiber handling element (116) defines a pair of spaced apart fiber holding portions (120) each defining an elongated fiber receiving aperture (122) for receiving a respective part of the optical fiber (106) thereinto. The fiber handling element (116) is deformable between open, closed and tensing configurations. In the open configuration, the fiber receiving apertures (122) extend coaxially and the fiber receiving apertures (122) have an open width. In the closed configuration, the fiber receiving apertures (122) have a closed width smaller than the open width. In the tensing configuration, the fiber receiving apertures (122) have the closed width and an inter-aperture distance is larger than in the open and closed configurations. An actuator (104) is operatively coupled to the fiber handling element (116) for moving the latter between the open closed and tensing configurations.

  • Patent number: 10694904
Abstract: The invention relates to a dispensing nozzle 2 for a container of wipes (not shown). The nozzle 2 features an annular projection 14 the inside of which features inward facing spikes 17. The spikes can be made from a flexible elastomer or a non flexible polypropylene material. The spikes 17 feature ‘slit’ sections of weakness that enables the spikes to flex upwardly when subjected to upward pressures from say a wipe (not shown) passing though the structure of the dispensing nozzle 2. If downward forces act on the wipe after it has been inserted into the nozzle so as to force the wipe 4 back into its container, two things happen. 1) The spikes 17 or spikes flex back to their original position thereby imposing space restrictions within the annular projection that imped wipe fall back. 2) The ends 20 of the spikes 17 dig into the wipe thereby impeding wipe fall back still further.

  • Patent number: 8425393
Abstract: A motor-free dunnage conversion system for converting a sheet stock material into a relatively less dense dunnage includes a container having a wall with an opening therethrough, a supply of sheet stock material within the container, and a forming member. The forming member has converging sidewalls that define a passage alignable with the opening in the wall. The forming member is a converging chute having a relatively larger inlet spaced from the outlet, which is relatively smaller than the inlet. The forming member functions to crumple the sheet stock material as a packer draws the sheet stock material through the forming member to form a crumpled strip of dunnage. The forming member has a dimension that is larger than a corresponding dimension of the opening to keep the forming member from escaping the container as the packer pulls the stock material through the forming member.

  • Patent number: 8342374
Abstract: Upstream and downstream grippers clamp to one or more seal zones on a bandolier of packaged premiums, such that the downstream gripper(s) and upstream clipper(a) are on opposite sides of a wakened separation line. The upstream and downstream gripper(s) are independently displaced by motive devices in a downstream direction. Further displacement of the downstream gripper(s) relative to the upstream gripper(s) causes the separation line to tear, thus separating an end premium package from the rest of the bandolier. In one embodiment, the grippers clamp to the seal zones at locations offset from the bandolier axis and to one side thereof, thus causing a gradual tearing along the separation line and easier, less stressful separation.

Abstract: A core pin bag dispenser includes a planar base sized and shaped to fit beneath a roll of film bags. First and second upwardly extending rods are mounted to the base. A retaining pin is sized and shaped to fit slidably within a hollow core of the bag roll. The pin has first and second orthogonal apertures located adjacent the first and second ends that are spaced apart by at least a width of the roll of film bags and are sized and shaped to fit slidably over the first and second upwardly extending rods. An upward pointing snagging hook is mounted adjacent a front edge of the base and is sized and shaped to engage either a chisel cut or a perforation in the bags. Two of the dispensers are mounted to an adapter designed to fit into the side channels of a bin mounted to a vertical surface.

Abstract: A clamshell dispenser for film bags includes a planar base shaped to fit beneath a bag roll. Side travel limiters are attached to the base. A retaining bracket is hingedly mounted adjacent a front edge of the base to prevent the roll from moving outwardly from the dispenser when the bracket is latched. The bracket opens for introduction of the roll. An upward facing snagging hook engages either a chisel cut or a perforation in bags from the roll. A downward facing snagging hook may be attached to the retaining bracket. An adapter for a bin includes first and second bag dispensers mounted to a fixture. The fixture is shaped to fit within the bin. First and second axles are orthogonally attached to the fixture. The axles mount first and second positioning wheels that are located to slidably engage first and second integral channels in vertical sides of the bin.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating a fragile, packaged premium from a bandolier of packaged premiums includes a number of gripping pairs disposed along an axis of travel. The gripping pairs are designed to grip the premium packaging at pre-defined grip zones along the peripheral edges of the wrapper without clamping onto the premium-containing portion of the package. Preferably, the gripping pairs are sets of endless tracks that are beveled away from the contact surface of each tread such that the beveled surfaces are superimposed on a marginal portion of the premium-containing zone so as to assist in centering the bandolier on the axis of travel.

  • Patent number: 8240533
Abstract: A transfer and dispensing apparatus is disclosed for the conveying and separation of packaging material, cushions or pillows when needed by the operator. When a packer working over a conveyor receives a box that requires void fill, an operating switch such as a foot pedal is depressed to dispense pillows from the apparatus and into the box in a connected strip. When the operating switch is released, the apparatus stops dispensing pillows, separates the continuous strip of pillows along a transverse perforation in the strip, and ejects the end of the separated segment. The packer can then complete packing the box by placing the severed end of the pillows into the box, advance to the next box, and repeat the process. The transfer and dispensing apparatus may be positioned in any convenient location including adjacent to, above or attached to the inflation device.
