The tissue dispenser generally comprises a housing having a tissue egress passage, a tissue source of a predetermined quantity of dry tissue located in the housing, a fluid source of a predetermined volume of fluid located in the housing, and an actuatable application mechanism in fluid communication with the fluid source and operationally positioned proximate to the tissue egress passage. The application mechanism can be actuated to dispense fluid onto the tissue as the tissue passes through the tissue egress passage. One partially wet and partially dry tissue can be used to clean and dry an article. The dispenser will dispense dry tissues if the application mechanism is not actuated while the tissue passes through the egress passage.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1997Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Inventor: Arden L. Patent number: 6053355Abstract: On a housing (10) which has a mount (20) for a roll (22) of paper, a roller (30) is mounted, by means of a spindle body (32), beneath said mount. A spring (40) is wound in the form of a coil around the spindle body (32) and, in the event of forwards rotation of the roller (30), is subjected to stressing and rotates said roller into a rest position after the paper web (24) has been severed. An end section (42, 48) of the spring (40) is formed by spring coils which always rest against the spindle body (32) in a close-fitting manner, with the result that they act as a directional lock. Between its end sections (42, 48), the spring (40) has a main part (46) comprising spring coils which, in the non-stressed state, enclose the spindle body (32) with radial spacing, only rest against the spindle body (32) in a close-fitting manner after a predetermined forwards rotation of the roller (30), and consequently prevent further rotation of the roller (30).Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1996Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Inventors: Hans Rupp, Rudiger Weiser

Patent number: 5954987Abstract: Disclosed is a microwave oven having a wrap film hanger. The microwave oven has a wrap film hanger for receiving a wrap film which is used for sealing an opened side of a vessel. The wrap hanger comprises a cover which is pivotably installed about a rear end thereof so that an opening formed at the upper surface of the outer panel is covered by the first cover, a support for rotatably supporting the roll of wrap film in a space formed between the first cover and an upper surface of the cabinet assembly, a first roller installed at a front inner side of the first cover, a second roller disposed below the first roller in such a manner that a nip is formed between the first and second rollers so that the wrap film is passed out through the nip, and a cutting means for cutting the wrap film when the wrap film passing through the nip is ejected from a gap formed between the first cover and the outer panel.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1998Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yong-woon Han

Patent number: 5866221Abstract: A serrated cutting strip (26) for a carton comprises paper or board impregnated with a mix of acrylic resin and urea formaldehyde. The strip is 0.2 to 0.5 mm in thickness and can bend without cracking over a bar of 20 mm diameter. The strip has adhesive on one side and a release sheet (28) on the adhesive. The strip is applied to a carton by apparatus (10) which comprises rollers (44,45) for advancing a substrate sheet (24), a cutter (12) and means (44,45) for drawing a release sheet (28) away from the edge (46).Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1997Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Carton Edge LimitedInventors: Edwin Wyn Owen, Ian Jamie

Patent number: 5667121Abstract: An environmentally insensitive device is described. The device uses a passive paper guide to direct an output paper stream from a paper source contained within the unit to an output aperture. The passive paper guide uses two opposing surfaces to define a radius of curvature through which the paper strip is guided. Use of longitudinal ridges along one or both of the surfaces reduces friction along the guide. By providing a rotatable output cover over the aperture and using a unit cover, a printed output can be achieved while maintaining the shielding of the unit from environmental effects.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1996Date of Patent: September 16, 1997Assignee: Physio-Control CorporationInventor: Douglas J. Patent number: 5630563Abstract: A roll of sheet material is wound on a cylindrical hollow core, and the core and roll are together placed within a dispenser body made up of pivotally connected upper and lower covers, preferably made of a resilient plastic material and sized and shaped to provide a containment space for a full roll of sheet material. The core and roll wound thereon can be placed into the lower cover in only one direction, so that rotation of the rolled-up sheet material must occur only in a corresponding one rotational direction for unwinding of the sheet material from the roll. The upper and lower covers are formed so that there is a built-in resilient force exercised by one or the other so as to keep them pivotally separated apart. A detent mechanism is provided to limit the amount by which the two covers can thus pivotally separate during use. By their pivotal separation, the covers define a small forward gap through which the sheet material may be withdrawn.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1995Date of Patent: May 20, 1997Assignee: Reynolds Metals CompanyInventors: Edward H.
