Abstract: An apparatus for holding, containing, and dispensing sterile, hygienic cordage, such as dental floss and suture materials. The apparatus comprises: a housing; and cutting and retaining means. The housing has a depression formed therein across which the cordage is placed. The apparatus allows a user to grasp the cordage, withdraw a desired length of cordage, and sever a trailing end thereof without manually touching the apparatus. This reduces the threat of cross-contamination between successive uses and/or users of the apparatus.

Abstract: The present invention provides in combination, a supply roll comprising an elongate liner, a multiplicity of electrodes, and a coating of moist adhesive on the electrodes that releasably adheres the electrodes in spaced relationship along the liner, and a refillable air-restricting dispenser comprising a plurality of walls forming a housing. The walls comprise a hollow tubular peripheral wall, and first and second opposite end walls, and define a central cavity within the housing. The peripheral wall has a slot communicating between inner and outer surfaces of the peripheral wall. The slot is adapted to afford passage of the liner with electrodes adhered thereto.

Abstract: A plastic bag dispenser holds a continuous roll of bags, connected by perforated separation lines. The dispenser is provided with a tongue, which the bags are dispensed over, that engages the separation line between the bag at the end of the roll and the next bag. This begins the separation of the separation line, as well as holds the next bag behind the tongue. A finger is provided on the upstream side of the tongue, with a gap between the finger and tongue. As a bag is separated, a portion of the front edge of the next bag is held in the gap, holding the bag in position for the next user.

Abstract: A refillable dispenser for housing and dispensing one or more sheet materials packaged in boxed or roll form. Dispenser (10) is permanently attached to the underside of an existing cabinet or shelf and is preferably made substantially from wood to match the style and decor of kitchen cabinets. The dispenser is characterized by horizontally spaced vertical side panels (14) supportably attached to a pair of support beams (12), which are also are used to secure the dispenser to the cabinet. One of the side panels supports a cantilevered bottom shelf (16) extending toward an adjacent side panel such that a dispensing slot is formed. The bottom shelf is inclined from the adjoining panel such that a roll (32) of sheet material is held in place by the inclined bottom shelf and the side panel. The lower end of the adjacent panel supports a vertical serrated cutting edge (18). A door (20) attached with hinges from the support beam serves as an end panel and permits replacement of spent materials.

Abstract: A toilet roll holder includes a frame and a cover rotatably mounted to the frame by a rotary shaft. The toilet roll holder further includes a support mounted within the cover and supporting a toilet roll thereon, an operating plate located below and adjacent to a rear edge of the support and rotatably mounted to the cover by a shaft, a brake plate rotatably mounted within the frame by a shaft extending parallel to the shaft, and converging holding frames arranged on opposite sides of the brake plate. The operating plate is inserted into the holding frames through their upper ends when the cover is moved to a closed position, and is normally fit loosely between the brake plate and the holding frames so as to permit the toilet paper to freely pass between the operating plate and the brake plate.

Abstract: The filament cutter comprises a shank (1) with a head (2) and a substantially cylindrical portion (4), applied against the head (2) by a spring (5). In the space (7,8) is disposed a cutting member (9), having notched recesses and so arranged that a filament engaged between the member (4) and the head (2) will come into engagement with the notches so as to be cut.

Abstract: A wrap dispenser comprises a generally rectangular box structure having a base, front and back walls, left and right side walls, and a hinged top or lid. A roll containment wall is mounted parallel to but displaced a short distance inwardly from said front wall, and serves to define the forward side of a central cavity to hold a roll of commercially-available plastic wrap within the dispenser. The front wall holds a cutting blade, and the top edge of the front wall includes a blade recess portion narrower than the width of the blade. The lid includes a recessed front edge that is wider than the blade recess portion, but narrower than the front wall itself. The side walls include recessed upper corners to enable a user to reach into the separation area between the containment wall and the front wall.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing sheet material, particularly metallic foil, positions each successively leading end region of the foil, after a preceding length of the foil has been severed, to stand freely in a generally upright condition away from a severing means which is preferably provided without sharp serrated cutting teeth to protect a user from injury during use of the dispenser, and to provide the user with ready access to each upstanding leading end region of the foil.

Abstract: Conventional film wrap dispensers have an exit slot adjacent the cutting blade so that the film end is difficult to grasp and pull out of the dispenser. The present device has a dispensing slot in the base adjacent the rear thereof and spaced from the cutter blade so that there is a two or three inch strip of plastic film extending from the slot after the previous length has been detached by said cutter blade. Furthermore, the transverse portion between the dispensing slot and the cutter blade is formed from a material which inhibits the usual adhesion of the plastic film so that the strip of plastic film extending from the dispenser slot normally hangs downwardly clear of the dispenser and does not adhere to the portion of the base between the slot and the blade as is usual. Even if some light adhesion does take place, the strip is easily detached so that it may be grasped easily for withdrawal, remote from the cut-off blade.

Abstract: Presented is a device for supporting and facilitating the dispensing of sheet material contained on rolls. The device is provided with three separate center-forming roll support structures on each of which may be separately supported a roll of sheet material to be dispensed. Each of the roll support structures is spring pressed to impose an axial force on the roll to thus retain it engaged with the roll support. Additionally, each of the roll support structures is manipulable to enable an increase of the space within which a roll is to be supported to thus facilitate placement and removal of a roll of material or removal of an empty roll.

Abstract: An improved tape dispenser comprises a body in the form of a rectangular block with a recess at one end to contain a wheel with a tape reel thereon, a tape stand with a zigzag cutter blade at the other end, a first adhesion face behind the cutter blade, a side post with a guide roller in the middle of the body to depress the tape passing beneath it, and another tape stand with a second adhesion face so that the tape extending from the tape reel is bent in a plurality of positions to maintain stability of the body, prevent the wheel from being pulled out of the body and prevent dislocation of the uncut end of the tape from the first adhesion face by reaction of the reel after cutting.

Abstract: The roll dispenser has as a box for receiving a roll of continuous sheet material, having a bottom, a pair of sides oriented longitudinal with respect to the roll, a pair of sides axial with respect to the roll. One of the longitudinal sides is adapted for receiving a cutting element, at least one tongue element is mounted on at least one of the sides of the box in space relation with the longitudinal side receiving the cutting element. The tongue prevents the recoil of the free end of sheet material onto the roll. In one embodiment, the roll dispenser further comprises a longitudinal side defining the top of the box, at least a portion of its longitudinal sides hingedly mounted to define a gap near the cutting and tongue elements. Also disclosed is a blank for constructing the box.

Abstract: A dispensing container (10, 52) is illustrated for dispensing clinging type plastic film wrap material which includes a front dispensing face (16, 50) having a dispensing opening (36, 60) from which plastic film wrap material (W) is dispensed. A cutting edge (32, 60) is carried adjacent a lower portion of the front face. An elongated adherence strip (40) is carried between the dispensing opening and cutting edge across the front face of the container. As the plastic film wrap material (W) is torn across the cutting edge for dispensing, the material is held by adherence and the remaining free end of the film wrap material (W) is left adhering to the adherence strip so that the film wrap material (W) is readily available to be grasped for dispensing of a next piece of material.

Abstract: Reclosable carton structure of a generally rectangular configuration is set up from a paperboard blank. A hooded cover is hingedly mounted over the open top of the carton and includes a serrated cutter bar extending along a free edge of the cover. A flap on the blank is folded to extend over and is adhered along its free edge to the inside of the carton wall underlying the portion of the hooded cover that includes the cutter bar. A tab is formed in the same carton wall by a knife cut main portion parallel to the fold of the flap and a pair of end portions each extending transversely of and from an end of the main portion, both end portions terminating between the fold and the adhered edge. Resilience of the paperboard, in combination with cooperative dispositions of the flap and the tab, causes the tab to be pivotally urged outwardly from the surface of the wall, pivotation occurring when the hooded cover is open.

Abstract: A surveyor's ribbon or tape dispenser which is designed to be carried on a person's belt which includes a reel from which a ribbon tape may be selectively dispensed by urging the ribbon or tape outwardly beyond the end of and against the pressure of a spring biased retention arm and which also includes a fixed U-shaped cutter element mounted along an intermediate portion of the retention arm at a point spaced from the end thereof for use in severing a selected portion of the ribbon or tape from the reel.

Abstract: A free end portion of sheet wrapping material is grasped and pulled from a dispenser transversely past and spaced from a cutting element mounted on a housing. The cutting element is displaced in response to the movement of the withdrawn material by generating a displacement force, latching the cutting element against displacement in a normally guarded position in which the cutting element is inoperative for cutting, and thereupon unleashing the displacement force in response to a further movement of the material to drivingly displace the cutting element from the guarded position to a cutting position in which the cutting element is in a position to sequentially pierce and cut the sheet material that is subsequently moved toward the same. Methods of dispensing the sheet material and of wrapping items also are disclosed.

Abstract: An improved dispensing carton for polymeric film having cling properties. The carton has a front wall with an upper edge and contains a roll of the film material. A flap is arranged to project outwardly downwardly in use condition, from the upper edge, being preferably integrally formed with the front wall. The leading edge portion of the film clings to the upper surface of the flap to prevent retraction of the film after a section is severed in the known manner. The flap is formed with at least one notch at its outer edge for grasping the edge portion of the film. An alternate embodiment provides a similar flap as part of a separate strip insertable into the carton.

Abstract: A carton is provided for dispensing sheet material from a roll thereof disposed in the carton. The carton has a hood panel and a material tearing member which is preferably mounted on the lower edge of the hood panel. A hood panel engaging portion is provided on the front panel of the carton for releasably holding the hood panel in overlying relationship with the front panel to close the carton. If the carton is used to dispense plastic sheet material, the front panel is provided with one or more openings which allow the end portion of the plastic sheet to be pressed against the roll of plastic sheet through the openings whereby the natural tackiness of the plastic material holds the end portion of the sheet against the outer surface of the front panel of the carton.

Abstract: A reusable tape tab marks the exposed end of a roll of tape. The tab comprises a sheet of non-porous, moisture-resistant, adhesive-free material which is adherable to the exposed end of the tape when the tape is stored between use. The tab is removable from the end of the tape and is reusable.

Abstract: A tape dispenser (1) for a plurality of rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive tape (70) including a tape storage compartment (5) and tape severance compartment (6) in which are located flexible retention wings (40), guard fingers (17) and tape cutter bar (50). Tape is drawn across a flexible retention wing and the cutter bar for severance, following which it is retained on a flexible retention wing and has a free end portion (70a) that can be grasped for subsequent severance of another length of tape.

Abstract: A dispensing carton is provided with a tab in its front wall for cooperation with a downwardly extending lip on the carton lid to clamp therebetween a sheet of household wrapping material dispensed from a roll within the carton, while the sheet is drawn along a serrated edge or cutter bar on an adjacent wall of the carton. This provides a length of the wrapping material for subsequent withdrawal from the interior of the carton during the next cutting operation by precluding the cut wrapping material from retracting onto the roll within the interior of the carton after it is cut. The clamp arrangement also results in a positive hold on the sheet as it is cut.

Abstract: The disclosure teaches a dispensing package for elongated strands, such as cord, thread, yarn or the like, wound on a spool. The package is made of a rigid but flexible material, and preferably, an oleofin plastic material. The package includes a floor member and a parallel ceiling member spaced from the floor member by a wall structure. The wall structure includes a two-walled arrangement consisting of two walls at an angle to each other and connected to each other at a common edge thereof. A third wall is opposite to the two-wall arrangement and consists of tab members extending from both the floor and ceiling members. Attachment means are included on the tab so that the third wall can be either fastened or unfastened. An opening in the two-walled arrangement includes a blade holder which extends into the opening. Side notches in the side edges of the two-walled arrangement comprise retaining means for retaining the free end of the strands.

Abstract: A roll dispenser 1, preferably one piece having no moving parts, has a rear aperture 8 for insertion of a roll and a front aperture 7 for extraction of material from the roll. A cutter 2 is provided adjacent to the front aperture 7 and a cling surface 3 close to the cutter ensures proper disposition of the material during the retraction. The dispenser is conveniently made by injection moulding, or by compression moulding in which case it is desirable that the top surface 11 and bottom surface 12 are mutually parallel.

Abstract: A dispenser for rolls of adhesive tape is described. The dispenser includes a parallelepiped receptacle for a roll of tape, with an opening for drawing the tape from the receptacle and a cutting means adjacent the opening for severing the tape. The dispenser may include an angle member to serve both as a cutting means and a retaining surface and also serve to strengthen the receptacle in cooperation with a strengthening panel beneath the angle member.

Abstract: A device for dispensing serial numbers, which have been attached consecutively in the longitudinal direction on a strip of paper being brought in the shape of a roll, said strip of paper being provided between each two numbers with an incision line formed in such a way that by a transverse portion and two longitudinal portions of it a central lip is obtained which projects from an output edge of the device after the tearing off of a serial number, the tearing means being formed by composing the output edge of a central part parallel to the plane of the strip and transverse to the longitudinal direction of it and two lateral parts connected with the ends of the central part and constituting an angle therewith such that the lateral edges of the strip are pulled on the lateral parts of the output edge and are shifted away from each other.

Abstract: A dispenser for tapes packaged in a roll and having an adhesive on one side thereof has a pair of spaced parallel sidewalls upstanding from the base and a mounting disk is rotatably positioned upon a shaft extending between the centers of the sidewalls. A roll of tape is mounted on the mounting disk. There is a cutter edge at an upper corner of the housing between the sidewalls and there is a rotatable roller positioned below and inwardly of the cutter edge but above a radius extending from the center shaft to the cutter edge. The roller has a helical thread thereon so as to provide a moving point contact for the adhesive surface of the tape moving thereover. As the adhesive side of the tape passes over the roller and below the cutter edge, the tape can be pulled out to a desired length and then cut along its non-adhesive surface by being moved upwardly against the cutter edge.

In preferred form, the cutting edge structure is comprised of an abrasive applied to the free edge of the carton's closure flap, the abrasive being on the inside face of that closure flap. After the desired sheet material length is withdrawn from the roll within the carton, the carton's cover is closed and the closure flap is manually pressured against the carton's front wall. In this attitude, the abrasive and the closure flap's leading edge cooperate to provide a cutting edge by which the free length of sheet material can be torn off the supply roll from one edge to the other.

Abstract: A multiple tape dispenser for wire marker tape consisting of a plurality of identical tape dispensers secured together coaxially. Each tape dispenser is generally cylindrical and has an arcuate hinged door which in its closed position forms part of the circumferential edge wall of the housing. Tape wound on a core in the housing has its free end folded back over an arcuate area beneath the free end of the arcuate door with the adhesive side of the tape adhering to the underside of the door such that when the door is opened the tape peels from the back side of the door and stands up for easy access by the user.

Abstract: A gang tape dispenser for a multiplicity of dissimilar rolls of pressure sensitive tape selectively usable at the user's option. Each roll may bear a roll of distinctive symbols dissimilar from those on the other rolls enabling the user to employ strips alone or in any of a profusion of combinations for coding and identifying and the like purposes. The tape rolls are housed in aligned storage cells having dispensing ports facing a common severing blade. The dispenser can be bench mounted or suspended on a workman's belt.

Abstract: A dispenser for a roll of strip comprising a casing in which is disposed a roll of strip. Pivotally connected to the casing is a cover. At the strip exit opening is a passage through which advances the free end of the roll of strip. Disposed in the passage for the advancing free end of the roll of strip is an upwardly extending indexing member. The indexing member is formed with a curved tip and tapered side walls that are directed outwardly and downwardly. The roll of strip is formed with curved slits. The curved slits are alternately convex and concave. The indexing member penetrates each slit successively. The convex slit forms a convex opening upon entering the ticket exit passage which is penetrated by the indexing member. The convex slit forms a concave opening upon entering the ticket exit passage which is penetrated by the indexing member. The convex slit, when opened, forms a tongue contacting the penetrating tip of the indexing member.

Abstract: In a cabinet for manually dispensing sheet material from a roll rotatably mounted within the housing of the cabinet, a combination of a blade having a cutting edge and movable from a first position to a second position relative to the housing when the sheet material is manually pulled against the cutting edge to sever a portion of the sheet material from the remainder of the roll, and sheet delivery means in operative association with the remainder of the sheet material and responsive to movement of the blade from the first position to the second position to deliver the free end of the remainder of the sheet material to a position facilitating manual grasping thereof by the user.

Abstract: A leader dispenser having separable top and bottom sections housing multiple spools of leader therein. Multiple spool mounting posts provided within each section for rotatably mounting the spools are dimensioned to frictionally engage the spools, preventing the spools from freely unwinding. The spools in the dispenser form two tiers, with end faces of the spools in the bottom housing section facing end faces of the spools in the top housing section.

Abstract: A dispenser for adhesive tape, and the like, has a spool arrangement supported by a base member and disposed for receiving a roll of tape. A cap including a head portion and a plug portion removably retains a roll of tape on a spindle partially forming the spool arrangement, which spindle has a recess in an end surface thereof for selectively receiving the plug portion of the cap. The base member is selectively mountable on a wall surface, and the like, as by suitable fasteners or by an adhesive, and the like. Also provided on the base member, in addition to the spool arrangement, is a double-edge cutting arrangement disposed for severing tape wound in either tangential direction from a roll journaled on the spindle of the spool arrangement.

Abstract: A bridge structure that facilitates drawing and cutting of wrapping stock is formed from a panel embodying the package structure. The bridge is erected in a substantially upright position on the panel and is maintained in its position by a pair of legs in either of its ends that have foot portions engaging the panel through punch-out openings in the panel.

Abstract: A ticket dispensing assembly for dispensing tickets from a flexible strip is described having a container made up of a casing and a cover containing a roll comprising a strip of flexible material the end of which protrudes from the container. The strip has a series of penetrated lines spaced longitudinally along the strip with each line forming an individual tongue shaped flap extending from adjacent one marginal edge portion of the strip to adjacent the other marginal edge portion of the strip and projecting forwardly in the feeding direction of the strip.

Abstract: A dispenser for a toilet tissue roll for use with a toilet tissue roll holder wherein the roll is rotatably mounted on a bar forming a part of the holder, including a frame secured to the holder, a roller mounted to the frame over which the toilet tissue roll end is drawn, and a toilet tissue tear structure mounted to the frame and arranged below the top of the roller and formed by a body having an aperture therein for passing the toilet tissue end therethrough and further havng a blade-like edge adjacent the aperture through which the tissue exits, whereby when the roller means is manually rotated downwardly the end is urged over the roller means and through the aperture until the desired length of toilet tissue is passed through the body and thereafterwards the toilet tissue is manually gripped and urged upwardly to bring the toilet tissue into intimate abuttment with the blade-like edge to stress the tissue until separation thereof occurs.

Abstract: A paper holder for supporting a paper roll and for tearing it to a given length as it is reeled off the roll. The holder comprises a casing which rotatably supports a paper roll, and a retaining cover which is pivotally mounted on the casing at its one end. Casing includes a bearing surface over which a length of the paper web extends as it is reeled off the roll, and the retaining cover includes an abutment adjacent to its other end which bears against the bearing surface with the paper length interposed therebetween. Adjacent to its other end, the cover is also formed with a slot for passing the paper length upwardly therethrough. The paper length which is let through the slot is turned back and then allowed to hang down.
