With Means To Clamp Material During Dwell Patents (Class 226/128)
  • Patent number: 10981241
Abstract: A solder feed structure has a solder exit aperture with an elongated shape. The elongated shape can help reduce the incidence of clogging, as it has a dimension that is significantly larger than the wire diameter of solder. The solder feed structure has a bent segment leading up to the solder exit aperture. The arc of the bent segment can cause the solder wire to be in a stable position at one end of the elongated shape of the solder exit aperture instead of wobbling within the solder exit aperture.

  • Patent number: 9968019
Abstract: A component feeding device transports a tape (a component feeding tape) in which electronic components are stored with some transportation device, and exposes the components. Transportation of the component feeding tape may be performed by fitting a sprocket with a feed hole of the component feeding tape. It has been found that sprocket does not necessarily fit with the feed hole of the component feeding tape. It has been found that this phenomenon takes place in a case of driving at least two or more sprockets with a driving device. When the sprocket does not fit with the feed hole, transportation of the tape is not correctly performed, but exerts an undesirable influence such as reduction of mounting efficiency on feeding of the components and subsequent mounting of the components. One feature resides in rendering a backlash of an upstream-side sprocket larger than a backlash of a downstream-side sprocket.

  • Patent number: 6032845
Abstract: In a variable-pitch tape feeder for feeding parts to a pick and place machine used to produce electronic circuit boards, a switch assembly is provided which controls the limits of a shutter movement and the tape advance distance dependent upon the desired pitch. The tape feeder uses a carrier tape to deliver parts to the pick and place machine. The parts are inserted into depressions at regular intervals along the length of the tape. To accommodate tapes of varying pitches, i.e., distances between parts, the feeder uses an electronic control unit to drive the tape feed mechanism and actuate a shutter. The shutter prevents small parts from escaping their respective depressions prematurely. The switch provides a stop surface which limits the rearward travel of the shutter and a flag which is detected by optical sensors to determine the position of the switch and thus the pitch desired by the operator.

Abstract: An apparatus for advancing a thermoplastic rod to a heated chamber. A housing, having a first end for communication with the chamber and a second end, receives the rod. A feeding mechanism applies an advancement force to the rod at a first location in a first direction towards the chamber. A retaining mechanism applies a retaining force to the rod at a second location in response to a force applied to the rod in a second direction opposite the first location. The rod is substantially supported within the housing from at least the first location to the first end. The retaining force is applied to the rod substantially about the entire circumference of the rod. The advancement force is applied to the rod at the first location between the first and second ends and the retaining force is applied to the rod at a second location between the first location and the second end.

Abstract: A carrier tape for carrying electronic components thereon forward to a sucking position is formed therein with a plurality of recesses for accommodating the electronic components, respectively, and advanced intermittently with the electronic components contained in the recesses. A suppressor is arranged at a location backward of the sucking position for preventing the electronic components from jumping out of the recesses. A shutter is arranged for sliding contact with the carrier tape such that the shutter is capable of being moved forward and backward along length of the carrier tape to open and close each of the recesses in the sucking position. The shutter has a forward end portion larger in width than a width of the each of the recesses and is formed by a plate spring extending obliquely toward the carrier tape for suppressing the carrier tape.

  • Patent number: 5725140
Abstract: A tape feeder for advancing a carrier tape with pockets containing parts in a surface mount placement system enhances the precision and reliability with which the tape is advanced and reduces the risk of loss of parts in uncovered pockets due to vibration by provision of a sprocket wheel to advance the tape, a reciprocating shutter to retain parts in uncovered pockets, and a retaining member disposed above an edge of the tape for contacting a portion of a top surface of the tape to retain the top surface portion in a plane when the tape is engaged by the sprocket wheel. The operation of the retaining member is assisted by a guide member including front and rear guides that contact the top surface of the tape and a support block that is pressed by a support spring against the bottom surface of a portion of tape between the front and rear guides. The operation of the tape feeder is adjusted to accommodate different pitches.

  • Patent number: 5421505
Abstract: A gun-shaped solder-dispensing device dispenses adequate and controlled lengths of solder wire for use in soldering plumbing joints and like tasks. The shape makes it easy to dispense solder and hold it to a heated workpiece all with one hand. The device contains an arcuate toothed drive which comprises about one-quarter of a circle. Thus, it is possible to contain a drive wheel of a large effective diameter in a compact housing. A trigger lever is linked to the drive wheel so that pulling the trigger lever with the fingers of a hand holding the device will dispense a length of solder. The drive wheel acts as a ratchet because it is linked to the trigger lever by pivoting connecting linkages. This allows the toothed wheel to move up into contact with the solder wire before it begins to revolve and move the solder forward. A pressure roller backs the solder to allow a variety of solder diameters to be accommodated.
