  • Patent number: 5358164
Abstract: The lever of a mechanism for driving a sheet feeder is guided for linear longitudinal movement in a guide member. The guide member is supported rotatably in a bearing pedestal, which is height adjustable. The lower section of the lever is shaped as a hollow profile having inner sliding surfaces. A slide member is located at the sliding surfaces. The slide member receives a pivot, by which a shaft is driven oscillatingly. The slide member is located for longitudinal movement at the center axis of the lever and, accordingly, the lever is not subjected to any torsional loadings and the entire apparatus can be made relatively narrow. This decreases elongations during the operation of the apparatus considerably.

  • Patent number: 5203486
Abstract: A crank drive for the material feeder of a machine tool is constructed so that the position of the crank pin along a line of action thereof, viewed in a position/time curve of the crank pin, is a modified sine curve, which curve is modified in that the peaks of the sine curve are flattened. To achieve this, the crank pin is adjustable relative to a crank disc on the one hand by a basic eccentricity setting device and on the other hand by an eccentricity correcting device. The eccentricity correcting device comprises cams mounted stationarily on the bearing arrangement of the crank disc and a cam follower engaging the cams. The cam follower acts on a main slide movably guided on the crank disc. The basic eccentricity setting device is effective between the main slide and a secondary slide carrying the crank pin. The secondary slide is guided on the main slide.

  • Patent number: 4925078
Abstract: A gripper feed devices comprises a housing, first and second tension grippers, first and second toothed rods fixedly connected to the first and second tension grippers, and a rotatable pinion meshing with the toothed rods for converting the rotational movement of the pinion into linear, symmetrical movement of the tension grippers in opposite directions. The pinion is cyclically driven, via a main shaft and a crank disk mounted on the main shaft, by two piston/cylinder arrangements connected at different points on the crank disk. The two piston/cylinder arrangements are designed to operate alternately and in opposite directions, thus imparting a cyclical rotation to the pinion. An adjusting disk mounted on the main shaft and an adjusting sled to which the piston/cylinder arrangements are connected are also provided to vary the stroke length of the piston, and thereby the extent of linear movement of the tension grippers.

A slide block is slidably carried by a disk and is provided with a coupling that is offset from the axis of the disk. The coupling is connected to the pair of rollers so that rotation of the disk will move them in their lateral movement. The length of the feeding movement is adjusted by moving the slide block relative to the disk to adjust the distance between the coupling and the axis of the disk. • Patent number: 4694982
Abstract: A pneumatic feeder is disclosed having twin feed slides axially reciprocable in side by side relation along parallel axes for intermittently advancing strip stock to a downstream machine for further processing. Each feed slide has clamps which serve to advance the stock with the traveling slide clamps activated and the clamps of the other slide being deactivated during its idle return movement. Each feed slide additionally has a rotatable crank mechanism and a single acting power cylinder associated therewith for providing a primary motive force in a stock advancing direction in cooperation with the associated crank mechanism. • Patent number: 4577791
Abstract: The invention relates to a gripper or clamp feed advance mechanism for sheet metal bands or profiled forms on presses, having two feed advance clamps or grippers on the feed-side of the press and having a spacing therebetween in the direction of adjustment, whereby the feed advance and return stroke may be carried out between two press strokes. The purpose of the invention is a feed advance mechanism which makes possible the easiest adjustment of the feed advance path and the direction as well as of the spacing between the feed advance clamps or grippers, with a minimal feed advance force and practically any desired material dimension. It is intended that the spacing between the feed advance clamps or grippers (5) which determines the advance and return stroke, is achieved synchroneously through the adjustment of the crank radii (13) of the crank drive (10, 21, 23) by a common adjustment member (12).

Abstract: This invention relates to a gripping feeder for an intermittent feeding of strip or wire stock in presses, stamping machines or similar machines. It is an object of the invention to provide such gripping feeder which permits a change of the stroke length to be effected from the outside while the machine is in operation and permits such change to be effected manually or by means of an adjusting motor and also permits an automatic adaptation of the feeding and retaining grippers to the thickness of the strip or wire stock to be fed. This is accomplished in that the carriage carrying the feeding gripper is adapted to be driven from the main drive of the machine via a feed rocker, which extends transversely to the direction of travel of the carriage and is fulcrumed on a slider, which is slidable along a rail that extends transversely to the direction of travel of the carriage so that an adjustment of the slider along said rail will result in a change of the stroke length of the carriage.
