  • Patent number: 6199738
Abstract: A method and apparatus for moving component supplying units, each of which carries electric components, along a reference line along which respective component-supply portions of the component supplying units are arranged so as to sequentially position a respective component-supply portion at a component-supply position. The method and apparatus also causes an external drive device to operate a drive member thereof to drive a member of a feeding device of each component supplying unit to perform a component feeding action and a component feeding preparing action and thereby feed the electric components of each unit one by one to the component-supply portion of each unit. The component-feeding action causing one of the electric components of each unit to be fed to the component-supply portion of each unit with the component-feeding preparing action causing the feeding device to be prepared for the component feeding action.

  • Patent number: 6041990
Abstract: A feeding mechanism for a forging machine includes a roller unit consisting of a pair of feeding rollers. Two rotating shafts are connected respectively and fixedly to the feeding rollers at an end portion, and to outer and inner driven gears at the other end portion. The inner and outer driven gears mesh with each other. A driving gear meshes with the inner driven gear, and rotates reciprocally within a predetermined angular range. The driving gear and the outer driven gear are sector gears. Each of the inner and outer driven gears is mounted on the corresponding rotating shaft by means of a unidirectional bearing so as to convert reciprocal rotation of the driving gear into intermittent unidirectional rotation of each of the rollers. Each of the rollers is provided with a braking member, which includes a circumferentially extending brake plate that presses against an outer periphery of the corresponding roller.

  • Patent number: 4048782
Abstract: The apparatus and method of this invention pertains to a web film advance in which a film advancing roll is carried on a frame moved by a reciprocating pitman arm. This arm is adjustable as to its stroke or travel so that a corresponding travel of the frame is also selectively adjustable. The film advancing roll is carried by a shaft mounted in bearings and is prevented from turning in one direction by a one-way clutch apparatus. This clutch allows the roll to be rotated only when the frame and roll are moved rearwardly. During this film feeding advance by the roller a rotation of the roller is achieved by a roller chain and a sprocket or a timing belt and toothed pulley. This chain or belt may be moved a small amount in response to an electrical signal to bring the web of film or paper into registration in accordance with mark indicia. Bags or simply formed, filled and sealed packages may be made by and on this simplified yet highly reliable film advancing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 3944121
Abstract: Apparatus of the type wherein a desired length of adhesive strip is fixed to an edge of a stack of sheets with heat and pressure includes automatic means for reliably providing the desired length of strip from a roll of adhesive strip. The automatic means include a pair of rollers which engage and feed strip, one of the rollers being mounted for free rotation and the other of the rollers being coupled to a shaft by a one-way clutch. Means rotate the shaft from a start-of-feed position a selectable amount in one direction, with said other roller and clutch engaged, to feed the desired length of strip and, thereafter, a spring counter rotates the shaft to the start-of-feed position, said position being determined by an abutment which limits rotation of a gear coupled to the shaft. A flywheel frictionally coupled to the shaft prevents bounce when the abutment limits rotation of the gear, thereby preventing rotation of the shaft in said one direction and, consequently, unmetered feeding of adhesive strip.
