  • Patent number: 5172843
Abstract: A paper feeding tractor in which perforated paper is fed by a pin carrying feed belt includes a feed belt driving sprocket which is housed between a pair of side frames. Two side faces of an inner circumferential portion of the sprocket body, except an outer circumferential portion formed with teeth, are formed with round fitting protuberances concentric with an axial hole therein such that the inner circumferential portion of the sprocket body is thinner than the outer circumferential portion. Thus, contact between the sprocket and the drive shaft is reduced to a relatively small sliding resistance. Paper can be moved in the axial direction of the drive shaft by a small force. During paper feed, any phase difference in rotation between the drive shaft and the sprocket can be eliminated. Alternatively, the feeding sprocket and a belt reception rotary member are housed within an auxiliary frame structure which is fit within and longitudinally slidable with respect to the main frame structure.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for guiding a corrugated cardboard sheet in a transfer portion and machining portion of a corrugated cardboard sheet box-making machine. Eccentric bearing boxes are provided for supporting feed rolls which define a path of travel for the corrugated cardboard sheet. The eccentric bearing boxes are rotatable to adjust the position of the rolls vertically depending on the thickness of the sheet then being run through the machine. The apparatus further includes sheet guide means for guiding the corrugated cardboard sheet to the feed rolls. The sheet guide means includes guide plates supported on brackets which in turn are supported on portions of the eccentric bearing boxes. Adjustment of the position of the eccentric bearing boxes for moving the feed rolls simultaneously effects corresponding adjustment of the position of the guide plates so that a constant difference in level between the guide plates and the upper periphery of the feed rolls is maintained.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for feeding a single electrical wire or a plurality of electrical wires including a feed roller means and a pressure roller means. A length of wire placed between the feed roller means and the pressure roller means is driven by the feed roller means while the pressure roller means is biased toward the material keeping the material in driving contact with the feed roller means. The pressure roller means includes means for adjusting its position automatically as the material varies in size. In the case where a plurality of lengths of wire is fed by the feed roll means, each length of wire has its own pressure roller means which independently adjusts itself to the varying size of the material being fed thereby.

Abstract: With a tape container inserted into the disclosed recorder, two reel drives, two tape guiding and tensioning devices, and a capstan "all" enter cutouts within the tape container. Actuation of a thread-up mechanism within the recorder then causes the following: the capstan is repositioned, thereby urging tape about itself by withdrawing tape from the tape container; the reel-drives engage respectively the supply and take-up reels within the tape container, thereby effectively removing the reels from all contact with and within the tape container; and the tape-guiding and tensioning devices guidingly withdraw additional tape from the tape container so that, except for contact with the tape container reels, the tape has virtually no other contact of any kind with any part of the tape container. Thus, functionally, the tape is transported in reel-to-reel fashion despite the use of a customer-convenience cassette-like tape container.

Abstract: A compact welding wire feed device is provided capable of being mounted directly on a welding head carriage. The device comprises a ball bearing having an inside race with tangential entrance and exit guides to the race adjacent to opposite axial ends of the bearing. A hub member has an outside diameter less than the inside diameter of the race so that the hub member can be coaxially received in the race and a welding wire passed through the entrance guide and wrapped around the hub and out the exit guide. By now side-loading or expanding the hub against the inside of the race and driving the hub rotationally, the welding wire is continuously fed out the exit guide. The coaxial relationship of the hub and race provides for a very compact structure thereby permitting mounting of the wire feed directly on a welding head carriage adjacent to a weld head or even permitting the feed wire itself to be used as an electrode in a MIG welding system.

  • Patent number: 4335857
Abstract: A web guide system wherein misalignment of take-up and supply rolls relative to a reference surface may be compensated without tape distortion by a crown pulley and an adjacent concave web guide. The concave web guide is a fixed, flangeless post about which the web is partially wrapped. The web tends to be self-centering in the concave curved portion of the guide. Tape is fed from a roll to the concave guide and then to the crown pulley of minimum radius which is mounted for axial as well as rotational motion. Pulley axial motion promotes equal edge tension and completes web self-alignment. Final axial alignment without edge pressure is accomplished by fixed tape edge-guides in the region of the head.
