Publication number: 20130214023Abstract: In a web printer, tension on the moving web is controlled by monitoring the tension on the web between two rollers and selectively operating an actuator driving the second roller to restore the tension to an acceptable range. The operation of the actuator includes modulating the speed at which the second roller is driven.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2012Publication date: August 22, 2013Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Joannes N. Patent number: 6824032Abstract: A controller for controlling the running tension of paper web for rotary press includes a paper feed unit (1) and a printing unit (2) provided with a printing cylinder (21) rotating according to an operation speed command. An in-feed roller (4) is provided in a running path of paper web (W) from a paper roll (11) of the paper feed unit (1) to the printing cylinder (21). A dancer roller device (5) detects a displacement amount of a dancer roller (51) relative to a reference position of the dancer roller (51) and absorbs variations of the running tension of the paper web (W) by the displacement. A tension control processing unit (S1) performs signal generation processing to optimize the peripheral speed of the in-feed roller (4) with respect to the peripheral speed of the printing cylinder (21) based on the displacement amount of the dancer roller (51) and the operation speed command.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2002Date of Patent: November 30, 2004Assignee: Tokyo Kikai Seisakusho, Ltd.Inventor: Yoshizumi Kumatori

Patent number: 5913469Abstract: Press rollers for being pressed respectively against wires are provided on an upper side of the wires while length-measuring rollers for respectively contacting the wires are provided on a lower side of the wires. A number of revolutions of each length-measuring roller is detected by an encoder, and an amount of actual feed of each wire is detected in accordance with its revolution number, and a pulse signal, representing its detection value, is sent to a comparison processing portion of a controller. In this comparison processing portion, the amount of actual feed of each wire, detected by the encoder, is compared with a predetermined feed amount of a feed roller beforehand given as an instruction to the processing portion, and if there is any difference between the two, an instruction is given to a servo amplifier, and the servo amplifier sends an instruction to a servo motor for driving the feed roller so as to rotate the servo motor in a normal or a reverse direction in accordance with this difference.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1997Date of Patent: June 22, 1999Assignees: Harness System Technologies Research,Ltd., Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventor: Toshiaki Suzuki

Patent number: 5505550Abstract: A printer comprises a convey roller for withdrawing continuous paper from a roll of the paper and conveying the paper along a predetermined convey path. The convey roller is rotated at a predetermined peripheral speed and conveys the paper with a first convey force. Four printing portions are provided sequentially along the convey path. Each of the printing portion has a printing head, and a platen roller which is brought into contact with the paper while opposing the printing head and conveys the paper with a second convey force. A sum of second convey forces of the platen rollers is set to be smaller than the first convey force. The platen rollers are rotated at peripheral speeds higher than that of the convey roller, and such that the peripheral speeds thereof are sequentially increased in an order of a platen roller adjacent to the convey roller toward a platen roller separated from the convey roller.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1995Date of Patent: April 9, 1996Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha TECInventors: Satoshi Kitahara, Hiroyasu Ishii, Kazuhiro Fushimi

Patent number: 5356062Abstract: A roll feed apparatus of the type including a pair of rolls for clamping a workpiece therebetween and for intermittently feeding the workpiece, comprises a differential gear, operatively connected to at least one of the rolls, for rotating the roll(s). A mechanical feeding mechanism is connected to the deferential gear for outputting a rotational output thereof to the differential gear for effecting the intermittent feeding.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1993Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Sankyo Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Heizaburo Kato

Patent number: 5050812Abstract: An envelope machine which makes two envelopes at once. One web is used up to a relatively advanced point in the envelope forming process to simultaneously form two envelopes. At a terminal portion of the envelope processing, the web is cut lengthwise to form two envelopes. The device also includes improved structure for maintaining uniform the tension on the web. This need for uniform tension is made more prevalent by the thickness of the web which must be used to form two envelopes in parallel. The structure of the present invention which maintains uniform the thickness of the web is formed herein by a dancer roll which moves in a longitudinal fashion in cooperation with movement of other associated rolls. Whenever the dancer roll reaches one of its stopping points, it sets off a limit switch which operates a piston to change the type of moving being applied to the dancer rolls.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Assignee: Sterling Envelope CorporationInventor: Henry H. Patent number: 4420107Abstract: To cut a strip of metal into exact lengths, rollers are brought into contact with the strip and turned by an accurate motor until a pin can be mechanically inserted into a hole in the strip to effect final alignment. If the pin does not successfully enter the hole, a detector halts the system.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1982Date of Patent: December 13, 1983Assignee: National Semiconductor Corp.Inventors: Michael Seyffert, Alan F. d'Entremont

Patent number: 4113368Abstract: A lower loop restorer for automatically resetting the lower loop of a motion picture projector when the loop is lost. A loop restoring roller, located in the film path, is provided at one end of a pivotable control arm assembly. When the lower loop is lost, the control arm is triggered to cause drive means to pivot the control arm assembly downward and then upward to pull film from the film gate and reset the lower loop. Means are provided to disable or inhibit the operation of the lower loop restoring mechanism when the projector is operated in the reverse projection mode, the in path fast forward mode, or the inpath rewind mode. Means are also provided to protect the film from damage if the lower loop restorer is triggered and film is jammed in the film gate.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1977Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: The Singer CompanyInventors: Albert J.
