Abstract: As a negative film having a multiplicity of perforations provided therein at equal intervals is being transferred, its perforations are detected to produce a corresponding pulse signal. The pulse signal is then fed to a controller which in turn calculates the number of clock pulses for each forty pulses of the pulse signal and determines a transfer distance per clock pulse. Meanwhile, the reference transfer distance is obtained from an interval between the perforations multiplied by forty. A difference between the actual transfer distance and the reference transfer distance is calculated and used for controlling the rotating movement of drive rollers.

Regarding the last print area, the stop position is determined on the basis of the number of sprocket holes having been counted until the trailing edge thereof has moved away from a sensor. • Patent number: 4546931
Abstract: A plurality of continuous strings which have been formed in a molding machine are wound about vertical axes. The strings are pulled from the molding machine simultaneously by a first tensioning device which maintains the strings under tension. The strings are advanced simultaneously from the first tensioning mechanism by a first drive means. As the strings are advanced by the first drive means, they are drawn by a plurality of second tensioning mechanisms which maintain the strings under tension. The strings are wound upon respective reels which pull the strings from the second tensioning mechanisms. The reels are capable of rotating independently of one another. After a preselected number of turns of the string have been wound, a reinforcing member is clamped against an upper edge of those turns to prevent the subsequently wound outer turns from excessively radially compressing the inner turns.

  • Patent number: 4359179
Abstract: The drive shaft 30 of a printer 10 engages a tractor 16 which, in turn, moves a paper web 12 across a print mechanism 14. Located on the drive shaft 30 is a drive shaft advance cam 78 which is fixed to drive the shaft 30 and rotate therewith. Additionally, located upon the drive shaft 30 for limited rotational movement with respect to the drive shaft advance cam 78 is a paper advance cam 90. The shape of the drive shaft cam 78 is similar to the shape of the paper advance cam 90. The paper advance cam 90 carries an O-ring 102 defining a high frictional surface for engaging the paper web 12. The door 50 of the tractor 16 carries a paper pressure roller 104 having a circumferential groove 106 positioned for cooperation with the O-ring 102. During normal paper web 12 drive, the cams 78, 90 are out of registration and rotate in unison.

  • Patent number: 4095732
Abstract: Method and apparatus for use in a web transport system wherein the web is stopped at a position it occupied when an event occurs. In particular, a motor driven capstan is provided to drive a web, such as a filmstrip, between first and second reels. A tachometer, operatively coupled to the capstan motor, provides a first signal representing the actual film velocity. The first signal is applied to an integrator which is controlled in a manner whereby during normal operation of the web transport system the integrator is off and does not affect system performance. When the event occurs requesting the capstan drive motor to stop, the integrator is enabled and provides an output which is proportional to the distance traveled during deceleration of the capstan drive motor (overshoot). The output of the integrator is coupled to first summing junction whereat it is added to a signal representing the desired film velocity which is driven to zero upon occurrence of the event.
