  • Patent number: 11214470
Abstract: A method of spooling a crane rope (2) onto a crane drum through a crane rope spooling system (1) from a reel (31) under a predetermined back tension is described and includes the steps of: unspooling the crane rope (2) from a reel (31) and passing the crane rope through a tensioning system (10) comprising a primary back tensioner (12) and a secondary back tensioner (16); gripping the crane rope (2) within the secondary back tensioner (16) and thereby preloading the crane rope (2) with tension prior to the crane rope (2) passing through the primary back tensioner (12); and applying a predetermined back tension to the crane rope (2) with the primary back tensioner (12) as the crane rope (2) is being spooled onto the crane drum under the predetermined back tension.

  • Patent number: 6959848
Abstract: A sealing gasket for sealing gaps adjacent to a pickup truck is provided. In alternate embodiments a combination pickup truck and sealing gasket is also provided. The sealing gasket of the present invention comprises an elongated member made of a deformable and a somewhat resilient polymeric material. The polymeric material is preferably a closed cell sponge material made of one of a number of polymeric materials which are the somewhat flexible, resilient, water resistant and the like. The cross-section of the elongated member, if divided into two parts, includes a generally triangular portion and a generally semi-circular portion which come together to form a teardrop-like shape. The elongated member preferably has a first lumen which is generally circular in shape when the sealing gasket is undeformed, and preferably a second lumen which has two converging tear surfaces which converge to join at one end and join to an arcuate inner surface at the other end.

  • Patent number: 5765741
Abstract: A switching device in an auto-reverse deck for a magnetic-tape-cassette apparatus, in which a first pressure roller (24) mounted on a first pressure-roller lever (20), for a first tape-transport direction, can be applied to a first capstan (36) in a first operating position of the switching device and a second pressure roller (25) mounted on a second pressure-roller lever (21), for a second tape-transport direction, can be applied to a second capstan (37) in a second operating position of the switching device, in which a magnetic head is arrangeable on a carrier element (2) mounted on a deck plate (1) and is movable in different positions relative to a transport path of a magnetic tape.

  • Patent number: 5320039
Abstract: A web engagement system for an off-reel printing press comprising a guide piece, a guide channel and drive stations for the displacement of the guide piece. The guide channel accommodates and guides the guide piece and is located on the frame of the press between the drive stations. The guide piece is slightly longer than the distance separating the various drive stations. The advance of the guide piece is caused as a result of the displacement of a slide equipped with wedging rollers which alternately grip and release the guide piece. A pair of wedging rollers prevents the return movement of the guide piece. The invention is used for introducing paper webs unwinding continuously in an off-reel printing press.

  • Patent number: 4031944
Abstract: A device for the opening and closing of cord operated closures, including a unidirectional electric drive motor and a pair of movable idler pulleys. The drive motor drives a frictional drive roller. A pair of flexible cords from the closure are singularly held against the drive roller by moving one or the other of the idler pulleys against the drive roller sandwiching a cord therebetween, one idler pulley causing one cord to move in one direction and the other idler pulley causing the cord to move in the other direction. An automatic shutoff mechanism is incorporated to shut off the drive motor and release the cord when sufficient tension is present on the cord, for instance, at the end of closure travel. The shutoff mechanism causes the drive roller and associated mechanism to travel along the cord a short distance thereby triggering a latch release mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3976236
Abstract: Apparatus for selectively driving a magnetic tape, or the like, in reverse directions. The apparatus features a pair of shafts driven simultaneously in a common direction by a shared motor, and a pinch roller for each shaft for pinching thereagainst a stretch of tape extending between the roller and shaft. Shifting mechanism mounts the rollers in such a manner that shifting of one roller to pinch tape against its associated shaft is accompanied by simultaneous shifting of the other roller away from its associated shaft, and vice versa. The shift mechanism also permits the rollers both to be simultaneously shifted away from their respective associated shafts, whereby one or both of these shafts may be used for other operations.

  • Patent number: 3942698
Abstract: An apparatus for scanning a magnetic video tape includes a drum and a rotatable magnetic head. A freely rotatable roller and a loosening mechanism are positioned on opposite sides of the tape. When the tape stops, the loosening mechanism is driven toward the roller and thus engages the tape between the loosening mechanism and the roller. Rotation of the loosening mechanism then loosens the tape.

  • Patent number: 3934774
Abstract: A dual speed tape drive system for a dictating and transcribing system is provided with means for recording and transcribing and including a single-bin, random-wind tape storage magazine to store an endless loop of magnetic tape in random folds. The tape is drawn from the magazine at one side, passed over the top of the apparatus, back into the magazine and out of the magazine through a dictate-playback station. After passing through the dictate-playback station the tape is returned to the magazine where it may be stored in random-wound folds until a transcribe station is activated to draw the tape from the magazine through the transcribe station and back into the magazine where it is stored awaiting further dictation.
