Work Holder Moves In Curved Path Patents (Class 227/106)
  • Patent number: 5467524
Abstract: An apparatus for tagging plants includes a frame attached to a stand, and jaws operably mounted on the frame for receiving a plant branch. The apparatus includes a strip advancing mechanism, a tag advancing mechanism, a fastening mechanism, and a programmable controller for controlling the actuation of each of these mechanisms. The strip advancing mechanism is configured to advance a section of flexible strip onto the jaws in a loop around the plant branch from a continuous supply of strip material, and includes a cutter for cutting the section from the continuous supply of strip material once it is advanced. The tag advancing mechanism is configured to advance a tag to a position proximate the jaws from a continuous supply of interconnected tags, and includes a cutter for cutting the tag from the supply of tags. The fastening mechanism includes a stapler for stapling a staple to the tag to hold the tag to the section of strip and to hold the ends of the section together in the loop around the plant branch.

  • Patent number: 4831722
Abstract: Method for installing rivet-type electrical connectors onto flat conductor cables wherein the connectors are fed to the machine from a magazine, transferred to a press and then pressed onto and through the cable over an anvil which holds the rivet-type connector to form a secure connection with the cable. The resulting profile of the connector is such that it extends through the conductor of the cable and is held thereon by a flange on one side of the cable and an eyelet-type crimp on the opposite side of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4645113
Abstract: A box making jig has a rotatable holder which holds side, bottom and end members (usually wooden) in position for stapling together. The holder is held to enable one side to be stapled, the holder is rotated and held to enable the bottom to be stapled, and then the holder is rotated and held again to enable the second side to be stapled to the end members.

  • Patent number: 4494685
Abstract: A portable cross tie end plating machine adapted to drive a nail plate into one end of a tie. The machine is designed to end plate one end of the tie at a time after the end of the tie has been squeezed together to close the cracks therein. The tie is fed onto an infeed table on the machine and is then moved onto a pair of tie transporter arms which lower the tie downwardly into the machine onto stationary platens. A pair of movable platens squeeze one end of the tie together and a nail plate is then driven into the end of the tie by a hydraulic ram. After the nail plate has been driven into the end of the tie, the transporter arms lift the tie upwardly out of the machine and deposit the tie on the outfeed table. The machine is designed to accommodate ties up to eighteen feet in length and to accommmodate ties having various dimensions.
