  • Patent number: 7930810
Abstract: A rivet fastening air tool for rivets includes a supplying actuator, an implanting actuator, and a switching valve. The supply actuator receives a rivet row, tears off a fragile portion of a front-row rivet, and supplies it in a loaded position. The implanting actuator retains a head portion of the rivet supplied in the loaded position, and moves the rivet in a direction of being pulled out of a communicating bore of the rivet. The switching valve is provided in an air supply route which reaches the supplying actuator. When the head portion of the rivet is moved in the direction of being pulled out, the switching valve is switched by the implanting actuator so that the supplying actuator is returned.

  • Patent number: 6543121
Abstract: Riveting apparatus wherein a planetary roller screw delivers the high forces required for actuating the fastener upset tooling. In order that precise control of the entire upset operation may be obtained, a servo-controlled electric motor operates the actuator. In order that different machining operations may be performed on a workpiece without having to provide an actuator for each tool, the tools are engaged in turn by the actuator for performing riveting and other machining in succession.

  • Patent number: 6519997
Abstract: Automatic feeding blind rivet guns and method facilitating rapid installation of blind rivets with good freedom of movement of the operator. The blind rivet guns receive a carrier holding a substantial plurality of blind rivets in close side by side proximity and automatically sequentially loads and sets the blind rivets in response to operator control. The blind rivets are preferably supplied on an inexpensive disposable plastic carrier ready for use with the rivet installation gun. The installation gun itself is pneumatically powered, though other sources of power, such as electrical power, could be used.

  • Patent number: 5651169
Abstract: Although the conventional continuous riveting machine was able to use exclusively a special blind rivet having a longer core-stem than that of the standard type, the continuous riveting machine according to the present invention is able to use the standard blind rivet and also able to recover separately torn core rivet stems and a blind rivet-holding belt made of plastic material enabling the supply of blind rivets in series. When a lower piston 600 descends in a jaw cylinder 400, a nose piece 620 integrated in one piece with the lower piston 600 also descends while bending downwardly plastic upper and lower tabs of the blind rivet-holding belt, and holding the blind rivet. Torn-core-stems are absorbed and stored in a torn core rivet stems storing case installed on the upper portion of the jaw cylinder by applying vacuum air absorbing force generated in a vacuum ejector.

  • Patent number: 4766656
Abstract: A table supports a cardboard file unit body as it is manually slid edgewise forwardly, engaged against a fixed but adjustable side edge guide, into engagement with a fore-and-aft movable front edge guide and an air microswitch thereon that actuates a punch mechanism. After punch operation, the front edge guide moves forward, bringing the punched portion of the body between the wings of a metal tab waiting at a peening station. Arrival of the front edge guide at its forward position trips another air microswitch to actuate a tab peening mechanism. The tabbed body is then manually withdrawn rearwardly and a new tab is automatically fed rearward to the peening station from a stack of tabs in front of that station. The punching and peening mechanisms, front edge guide and tab feed slider are actuated pneumatically.

  • Patent number: 4596349
Abstract: Male or female annular components of fasteners are applied to articles of clothing in a machine wherein the lower tool of a pair of confronting tools has a socket for reception of the heads of discrete rivet-like connectors whose shanks extend upwardly toward the upper tool which has tongs with jaws for releasably holding a male or female component in such orientation that the central aperture of the component is in register with the shank of the connector in the socket of the lower tool. The upper tool further includes a ring-shaped hold-down device for the male or female component which is held by the tongs as well as a deforming plunger which can upset the tip of the shank after the latter has penetrated a garment between the two tools and thereupon through and partly beyond the aperture of the component in the tongs in response to downward movement of the upper tool. The hold-down device is movable axially relative to the tongs and the plunger is movable within limits axially of the hold-down device.
