  • Publication number: 20030201315
Abstract: A re-usable and self-sealing box, and a flat blank that can be manipulated into the box, that can indicate tampering includes top flaps having two or more attachment and tear strips extending from the box sides. At least two of the top flaps each include an attachment strip that can be attached to another top flap or a side to close the box and a tear strip that can be removed from the top flap to separate the flap from the attachment strip. To initially close the box, a first top flap having an attachment strip is attached to a third top flap or to a side. After separating the first top flap from the attachment strip, the box can be closed a second time by attaching a second top flap having an attachment strip to the fourth top flap or to a side. To provide a box that can be re-used more than twice, four top flaps each include an attachment strip and a tear strip.

  • Patent number: 6558501
Abstract: The present object concerns an innovative glueing process for cartridge paper boxes, with an application of adhesive, of the “hot-melt” type, on the lapel of the outer tab, for three-tabbed cartridge boxes, featuring a process of heating and melting over the sites of application of the adhesive, by the use of air-pistols, heated plates and other means, drying naturally at room temperature, receiving a slight compression. The sealing of the package is achieved by the use of a “window” on the main part of the package, with the application of inscriptions by an ink-jet system, or others, over the cartridge and the adhesive, fusing and spreading over the package when heated.

  • Patent number: 6273329
Abstract: A paperboard container adapted to hold pastries or the like is fashioned from a unitary blank. The blank is provided with a plurality of generally rectangular panels defined by fold lines. The container assumes two forms, with each having a bottom panel with upstanding side walls therefrom to define a bottom tray, a top panel with depending side walls therefrom to define a top tray, and two latching tabs. One latching tab is carried by the front wall of the lower tray, while the other latching tab is carried by the front wall of the upper tray. The two front walls are overlapping and in substantial surface contact with each other. • Patent number: 6070790
Abstract: The tamper evidency of a carton is increased by producing stronger end flap seals. This can be done by anchoring the adhesive onto at least one of the end flaps. In a preferred embodiment there is at least one lower flap with at least one recessed area, at least one seal flap with at least one aperture and at least one top flap. The lower flaps are folded inward followed by the seal flap. An adhesive is on the inner surface of the top flap which then is folded inward onto the seal flap. The adhesive flows through the at least one aperture in the seal flap and spreads outwardly in the at lest one recessed area below the at least one seal flap to become anchored to the seal flap. This is enchanted by a plurality of recesses in the at least one lower flap adjacent to the at least one aperture in the at least one seal flap. By being anchored to the seal flap and adhesively attached to the fiberboard underside of the top flap, a strong end seal is formed on the carton.

  • Patent number: 6059178
Abstract: A tamper evident shipping container comprising a generally rectangular box formed from corrugated paper board includes a pair of overlapping top closure panels adhered together in sealed condition by multiple strips of pressure sensitive adhesive disposed therebetween and a pair of overlapping bottom closure panels sealed together in a like manner. Retaining tabs connected to opposite ends of one of the top closure panels and one of the bottom closure panels are adhered to the end walls of the container by pressure sensitive adhesive. The flutes or corrugations which comprise the container material extend transversely of the retaining tabs and the free edges of the top and bottom closure panels so that attempted entry of the container in the regions of seal causes creasing of the container material along the lines of scorrugation. The resulting creases are readily evident from a cursory inspection of the sealed container.

A colorant layer is disposed over the transparent masking material and an adhesive in turn is disposed over the colorant layer and transparent masking material.

  • Patent number: 4972953
Abstract: Tamper-evident packaging comprises an erected, filled, and closed carton having an outer surface with ink printed thereon visible from outside of the closed carton, and transparent film overwrapping the closed carton and secured to the ink on the outer carton surface in selected differentially adherent patterns. Removal of the film from the overwrapped carton also removes the ink in one of the patterns to reveal the desired pattern of deinked outer carton surface and to thereby evidence tampering with the packaging.

  • Patent number: 4890789
Abstract: A box structure with increased resistance to the opening of its base due to the weight of its contents has in the closure tab for its base a shaped notch which when the box is closed forms a slot parallel and adjacent to the folding line of said tab. From each of the relative box closure tabs, in correspondence with said slot, there projects a tooth which extends to touch the inner side wall of the box, the width of said teeth being just smaller than the length of the slot.
