Flap Or Tab Underlies A Downwardly Extending Panel Of The Adjacent Sidewall Patents (Class 229/176)
  • Patent number: 11807429
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a new and improved paper-based container. More specifically, the invention relates to a paper-based container that is comprised of a relatively low-density polyethylene coating on one or both surfaces of the container and at least two skive flaps, wherein each of said skive flaps is created during the manufacturing process. The skive flap further comprises at least one leading edge of the container body, and prevents unwanted moisture from entering the container and the contents of the container from saturating the paper-based material. One skive flap is preferably folded in a manner in which a portion of the outside surface of the container is adhered to the inside surface, a second skive flap is adhered to the outside surface and a third skive is formed at the bottom of the container.

Abstract: A foldable box template includes first, second, third, fourth, and fifth segments. Each of the segments has a length, a width, and one or more flaps. The first segment is positioned at a first end of the template and the fifth segment is positioned at a second, opposing end of the template. The sum of the lengths of the first segment and the fifth segment is generally equal to the length of the third segment. As a result, the first and fifth segments form a seam on a sidewall of a box formed from the box template. In some cases, the seam formed by the first and fifth segments is offset from seams formed in top and bottom surfaces of the box. The seam formed by the first and fifth segments is offset from a corner of the box.

  • Patent number: 7681785
Abstract: A stackable corrugated box made from a foldable blank comprising a base having two opposed first edges and second edges, wall portions extending from the first edges, side wall portions extending from the second edges. The wall portions comprise a first part connected to the base and a second part connected to the first part, provided with flaps. The first parts include crush and knife cut features capable of flexing outward. When the box is erected, the side wall portions are folded perpendicularly to the base and connected via the flaps to upwardly directed walls defined by the first and second parts also folded perpendicularly to the base. The upwardly directed walls are provided with projecting tabs, so that when the box is stacked on another similar box, the crush and knife cut features flex outward creating space for the tabs from the box placed below.

  • Patent number: 6029885
Abstract: A container blank has a bottom panel with outwardly extending inner and outer end panels which fold up to form double thickness end walls. Two opposed parallel side panels have glue tabs which are affixed to the outer end panels. Each glue tab has a 45-degree angle fold line which allows the side panels to be folded to overlie the bottom panel during shipping. In a covered box where the height of the box h measured vertically exceeds one quarter the length of the end panel and approaches one half the length of the end panels, there is not space available to receive the cover front flap tab within a pocket defined between the end wall and an adhesively attached glue tab, if the glue tabs in front and in back are of equal size. To accommodate the enlarged cover front flap tabs, the front glue tabs may extend a greater distance along the end panels than the rear glue tabs. The rear glue tabs are less than half the length of the outer end panels, and do not extend frontwardly beyond the glue tab fold line.

  • Patent number: 5967407
Abstract: A container is readily set up by hand from a glued-up blank. The blank has a bottom panel with outwardly extending inner and outer end panels which fold up to form double thickness end walls. Two opposed parallel side panels have glue tabs which are affixed to the outer end panels. Each glue tab has a 45-degree angle fold line which allows the side panels to be folded to overlie the bottom panel during shipping. By pivoting the outer end panels to be perpendicular to the bottom panel, the side panels are brought upright by the attached glue tabs, and the inner end panels are thus positioned to be engaged over the glue tabs. The glue tabs may extend to permit rectangular adhesive attachment regions. The structure may be incorporated within a double-walled shadow box, a tray or lid, a covered box, or other container structures.

  • Patent number: 4617211
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for skiving and hemming one or more edges of a paperboard web or blank to improve the sealing qualities of a container made from the paperboard. The paperboard is skived twice generally parallel to its edge, once to define an oblique surface and once to make a flat skived surface. The latter is folded over the former and heat-sealed to a heat sealable material adjacent the skived region, defining a wedge-shaped edge portion. The folded over part is preferably ironed to produce a substantially flat sheet, and the wedge-shaped edge is preferably reshaped at some point in the process to make the entire folded over surface substantially flush with the unskived surface to which it is sealed. The flat skived surface is preferably made by a milling procedure in which the milling teeth strike the material while moving in a direction opposite to that of the motion of the material.
