Abstract: A blank used for making a container is disclosed. The blank comprises a first primary panel, a second primary panel, and a secondary panel. The first primary panel is hingedly coupled to a first primary flap. The second primary panel is hingedly coupled to a second primary flap. The secondary panel is hingedly coupled to a secondary flap. The first primary flap comprises a main portion and a tip portion. The main portion is hingedly coupled to a first handle. The tip portion is positioned between the main portion and the first handle. The secondary flap is configured to be positioned between the second primary flap and the main portion when the container is in a box configuration. The tip portion is configured to be positioned between the second primary flap and an interior space of the container when the container is in the box configuration.
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention is a packaging material having a abhesive for preventing the adherence of the interior surfaces of the packaging material during application of a closure thereto. One example is a carton blank having the closure attached prior to erection of the blank on a packaging machine. Another example is a, roll of packaging material such as used to fabricate a TETRA BRIK® parallelepiped package on a vertical form, fill and seal machine. Another aspect of the invention is a method for applying a closure to such a packaging material. Yet another aspect of the present invention is an apparatus for applying closures to such packaging material. The abhesive may be a coating, printing, strip or an embossment of the material.
Abstract: A package comprising a flanged tray and a wrapper for covering the tray includes an easy opening feature for providing access to the contents of the tray. The wrapper is formed from a substantially rectangular blank of paperboard which is cut and scored to provide a top panel which is adhered to the tray flange, at least one side wall foldably attached to the top panel which lies adjacent to a tray side wall and a bottom flap foldably attached to the side wall which is adhered to the bottom of the tray. The easy opening feature includes a tab element formed from a part of the side panel which is connected to a removable lid portion of the top panel. The tab element and removable lid portion are formed by spaced apart, partial depth cut lines located on the inner and outer surfaces of the top panel and the side panel.
