The tear tapes may be pulled to tear off and open one end of the wrapped ream, leaving the remaining packaging intact to serve as a storage and dispenser for partial reams of paper.

Abstract: An overwrap packed body is obtained by heating and shrinking a wrapping material in a condition that five drink products collectively wrapped by the wrapping material. Three perforated lines passing through gap portions between the adjacent drink products are formed on the wrapping material at an interval of 2 mm in parallel. When the three perforated line portions are pushed with fingers in the gap portion between the adjacent drink products, the wrapping material torn from the pushed portion in a vertical direction. Thus, the packed drink products DG can be easily taken out one by one.

The package comprises (a) a web material to form an enclosed package comprising a seal having two seal ends and a package side edge, and wherein the seal is a fin seal or an overlap seal; (b) a first tear initiation point located on the package side edge; and (c) a second tear initiation point, wherein the second tear initiation point is located on the seal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided to create a package with an easy open feature that has a fin seal spanning between opposing end seals. Flow-wrapping material utilized to form the package includes first and second opening feature portions. The first and second opening feature portions are disposed adjacent to opposing lateral edges of the flow-wrapping material. A plurality of laterally-disposed scribed lines are disposed at least partially with the first opening feature portion and a tear initiation element is disposed laterally aligned with the pluralyt of laterally-disposed scribed lines. The tear initiation element is disposed such that it is closer to the second opening feature portion than the first opening feature portion.

Abstract: Packaging for a generally block shaped product (12) is made from a wrapper (14) of flexible material encasing the product. The wrapper has a foldable flap portion (24) adjacent an end of the package. The free edges (28, 30, 32) of the flap over-lap a further portion (34) of the wrapper and are bonded by means of a peelable and re- sealable adhesive (37). The flap (24) extends fully across one face (38) of the package and at least partially down opposing sides to form a sealed and re-sealable closure for the package. The package can be formed using flow-wrap techniques and is particular suited for packaging chocolate bars and the like.

Abstract: One or more lasers (80, 100) form one or more crease lines (140, 150, 151) in a flexible wrapping material (60). The flexible wrapping material is then folded about the one or more crease lines when encapsulating an item to be wrapped within the flexible wrapping material. The flexible wrapping material may have poor dead-fold characteristics and can comprise a flow-wrapping material. A single laser or multiple lasers can serve to form the one or more crease lines. The crease lines can be formed on a same side of the flexible wrapping material or on both sides thereof. By one approach, folding the flexible wrapping material about the one or more crease lines forms, at least in part, a form-factor conformal pocket to accommodate the aforementioned item. By another approach, folding the flexible wrapping material about the one or more crease lines forms, at least in part, a gusset.

Abstract: A film wrapper comprising a tear tape, wherein an end of the tear tape terminates at a side edge of the film wrapper, and wherein a pull portion of the film wrapper is provided in the form of a protrusion at the end of the tear tape and the protrusion comprises an outer edge. An incision in the film wrapper is provided at one side of the pull portion as a continuation of the outer edge of the pull portion. A container is disclosed which comprises the aforementioned film wrapper, wherein the film wrapper is wrapped around the container. Further, a method for producing a film wrapper and a knife arrangement are disclosed.

Abstract: A flexible container for containing a quantity of pourable product is disclosed herein. The flexible container includes a bag having a first closed end and a second closed end and a wall extending between the first closed end and the second closed end to define a closed cavity. The flexible container also includes a tearable score line defining an intended opening directly to the closed cavity. The tearable score line divides the wall into a first portion engaged with both of the first closed end and the second closed end and a second portion spaced from both of the first closed end and the second closed end. The tearable score line is exposed and directly graspable such that the bag is operable to function as a dish when the second portion is removed.

The invention is, for example, applicable to packaging of melted cheese.

Abstract: A container for a food product including a tamper-evident closure which forms an opening of a container. The closure comprises a sealing layer, adhesively sealed to the top of the container around the opening. The sealing layer is releasable from the container by pulling back on the sealing layer and resealable against the top layer to seal the opening when the sealing layer is moved back against the top. The tamper-evident feature comprises a portion of the top adjacent the opening and covered by the sealing layer, which extends from a position spaced from, and extends towards and terminates at the opening of the container. A portion of the tamper-evident feature falls into the container after the sealing layer has been pulled back for a first time to thereby indicate that the container has been previously opened.

Abstract: A protective wrapper is provided that includes a film having a first sealed end, a longitudinal seal, and a second sealed end with a first height, as well as an opening mechanism. The opening mechanism includes a pair of protrusions extending outward from the first sealed end by a first height, a line of weakness extending inward from a starting point where the pair of protrusions meet, and a pair of indentations extending inward from the second sealed end. The first height of the pair of protrusions is equal to or less than the second height of the second sealed end.

Abstract: A product, such as a roll of paper toweling, is wrapped in a polymeric film wrapper having a high degree of molecular orientation. The wrapper is provided with a small perforated starter tab, which a user can depress with their fingers or thumb to break the perforations. Upon breaking the perforations, the user can grasp the tab of the wrapper and thereafter open the package by pulling on the wrapper in the same direction as the molecular orientation direction of the wrapper. The high degree of molecular orientation allows the package to be cleanly torn open with very little effort.

Abstract: A surfboard wax bar rectangularly geometric in shape having a plurality of transverse creases or beveled break lines allowing a user to selectively separate a portion of the surfboard wax bar as desired, the surfboard wax bar encapsulated in a protective covering, the protective covering having a plurality of preformed embossed tear lines cooperative and aligned with the transverse creases or beveled break lines of said surfboard wax bar to allow the selective separation of a portion of the surfboard wax bar and associated wrapping, yet not disturb the remaining wrapping and the remaining portion of the surfboard wax bar, the surfboard wax bar and wrapping or portions thereof being stored in a container, the outer surface of which is reflective to the sun, and which is insulated from the heat of the ambient weather so as to prevent deterioration of the surfboard wax bar or any remnants thereof, and also protection from debris such as sand.

Abstract: A wrapper used to enclose various things that are generally flat or can be flattened. The wrapper consists of two planar sheets that are essentially identical in shape and peripherally sealed to one another. The wrapper has a v-shaped indentation on its top, which makes the wrapper easy to open by holding the wrapper at both ends near the top and gently pulling both ends away from one another until the wrapper tears into two pieces beginning at the indentation and continuing in the general direction of the bottom of said wrapper.

Abstract: A sealed pocket formed on a package overwrap, such as the overwrap around a cigarette package, is provided with an aromatic. The pocket containing the aromatic is placed proximate to a tear strip. As the tear strip is pulled along and removed from the package the pocket is opened, the aromatic is exposed to the air and an aroma is released.

Abstract: A packaging article including a flap for opening and reclosing the packaging article. The packaging article comprises a flexible packaging material and a label. The flexible packaging material includes the flap and a plurality of slits defining at least a portion of a boundary of the flap. The plurality of slits are substantially parallel to and spaced from one another and have a length dimension. When applying to the flap a tearing force directed substantially perpendicularly to the length dimensions of the plurality of slits, the flap can be opened by the tearing force tearing the flexible packaging material between the plurality of slits. A first portion of the label is affixed to a portion of the flap. A second portion of the label is adapted to be repeatedly removably adhered to a portion of the flexible packaging material adjacent the flap such that the flap can be opened and reclosed. The packaging article may be a ream wrapper.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a peelable packaging film comprising a first thermoplastic substrate and a second thermoplastic substrate wherein the packaging film has a Heat Shrinkage value between 0 and 10% at 102° C. in either the machine or transverse directions. The first and second substrates each have a first surface and a second surface. Each of the first surfaces comprises a polyolefin and has a surface energy of at least 36 dynes/cm2. At least one first surface is oriented, preferably biaxially oriented, and at least one first surface is non-heat shrinkable. In contact with both first surfaces is a contiguous adhesive layer. A peelable interface is provided between the adhesive layer and at least one the first surfaces of the substrates. The peelable interface is adapted to have a peelable seal strength of between 60 and 2,500 grams-force/in.

In one embodiment the panels 14, 18, 30, 44 are folded and attached, to form at least one trap door 58, and encapsulating at least one blister 34 holding an item. The trap door 58 is releasably attached within the top panel 14 and bottom panel 18. To gain access to a blister 34, a trap door 58 is at least partially detached along the severance lines 36, 48, and pushed out to access the tear notch 46. A portion of the trap door 58 is torn, at tear notch 46 and along the severance line 54, to access the item.

The gripping corner (2) has a triangular projection formed on one of the sides of the first sheet cut out into an octagonal shape and the tear-off strips (5, 6) form a pointed U shape whereof the tip is located in the triangular projection, thereby making it easy and simple to open.

The label flap includes a base layer extending between a first end and a second end. The base layer includes a first adhesive that permits repeated application and separation of the base layer from the package. The base layer has a starting tab devoid of the first adhesive contained on the second end. A top layer is separably attached to the base layer. A top layer includes a second adhesive that permits repeated application and separation of the top layer from the release coating of the base layer. The top layer and the second adhesive have at least one access slit overlying the starting tab for facilitating separation of the top layer from the base layer when the base layer has been separated from the package. The base layer and the top layer are printed with text and/or graphics to supplement information printed elsewhere on the package.

The opening means comprises a gripping means and a tearing means and the gripping means is formed in an external panel of the side wall. The opening means is adapted to create an opening in the side wall by tearing a tear-off portion of the side wall. The external panel further comprises a first strap, which after opening the package, remains adjacent to an upper edge of the package.

Abstract: A consumer pack with flexible outerwrap around the pack has a tear tape between the pack and the outerwrap for separating the outerwrap into upper and lower portions when the consumer pack is opened. A multi-layer aromatic strip is positioned on an outer surface of the outerwrap just outside the tear tape, and the aromatic strip is secured thereto by an adhesive layer. The aromatic strip includes a fibrous substrate soaked with fragrance and an outer barrier surface that seals in the fragrance. When the tear tape separates the outerwrap into upper and lower portions, the outer barrier surface and the fibrous substrate are broken open to release fragrance to the surroundings.

Abstract: Wrapping paper includes a sheet of paper having at least one edge portion delineated by a first line of weakness. Adhesive is applied to the edge portion. A gift item is wrapped by detaching at least one edge portion from the sheet along the first line of weakness, wrapping the sheet around the gift item, and using the adhesive edge portion to secure the sheet. The wrapping paper can formed of an edible paper with a non-toxic adhesive, such that the gift item can be unwrapped by consuming the wrapping paper.

The easy-opening portion is formed at a position slightly shifted inward from a perimeter edge of the packaging bag. As another example, the packaging member is a packaging container (100), in which the easy-opening means is structurally improved.

The leaf (11) is folded around the product (2) to produce a hermetically sealed wrap (1) designed to tear open from the notches.

Abstract: The present invention includes a unique tri-fold blister card and resulting tri-fold blister card package for packing, shipping and displaying a product at a point-of-purchase. The tri-fold blank improves the visual impact of the product package by providing a printable area in the reveal area of the tri-fold blister card. The tri-fold design allows for single surface printing at little or no additional cost. The tri-fold blister card preferably includes features that allow a consumer to more easily open the tri-fold blister car package. These easy opening features include pre-defined glue patterns and an opening mechanism that is easy to operate. Further, the tri-fold blister card package can include a handle that preferably provides for easier handling by a consumer without distracting from the visual impact of the package.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems for wrapping a soiled diaper and/or other odorous items in a sheet material are disclosed. In one embodiment, a soiled diaper is placed on a sheet of material. The material may be configured to be adhered to itself without a secondary means for adhesion so as to create a seal around at least a portion of the diaper. The material may also include an adhesive side and a non-adhesive side, and the adhesive side may comprise a pressure-sensitive adhesive. In this manner, unintentional adhesion of the material can be avoided, and the material can be folded over the soiled diaper and pressed against itself to seal in the odor and/or mess without requiring a secondary means for adhesion, such as tape.

Abstract: A tamper indicating, resealable closure for a package includes first and second film layers releasably adhesively joined together such that the first and second film layers are at least partially separable when the second film layer is pulled away from the first film layer. The first film layer includes first and second tear lines formed thereon to define first and second panel sections respectively. The first panel section defines an access opening through the first film layer when it is separated along the first tear line during an initial separation of the first and second film layers. The second panel section also becomes separated from the first film layer when the second film layer is separated from the first film layer to provide an indication of an initial opening of the closure. Subsequently, the second film layer may be re-adhered to the first film layer to reseal the access opening, while the second panel section remains separated from the first film layer.

Abstract: A customizable wrapper for a product, such as a candy bar, including a wrapper assembly having a pair of removable edges. A face sheet of the wrapper assembly includes a printable surface and an integrated wrapper sized to cover the product on both a front and back. A back sheet of the wrapper assembly includes a removable portion at least partially overlaying the wrapper, the removable portion removable to expose an adhesive surface along the wrapper. The customized wrapper is then wrapped around the product and adhered along the exposed adhesive.

Abstract: A container for a food product includes a wrapper which surrounds a frame. The container can be any polygonal shape which is defined by the shape of the frame. The wrapper forms a top of the container which has an access opening. A sealing cover is adhesively sealed to the top around the opening. The sealing cover is operable to expose the access opening and reclosable against the top to seal the access opening. The sealing cover, adhesive and top surface are optimized to provide sealing characteristics of sufficiently resealing frequency, relatively low noise level during unsealing and desirable peel forces to separate the seal between the sealing cover and the top.

Abstract: A shrink tubing jacket construction enables blade-free or enhanced removal of shrink tubing from an underlying substrate, such as a catheter construction. The shrink tubing jacket construction comprises a length of shrink tubing and one or more tear members located within the wall of the shrink tubing. The wall of the shrink tubing has a certain first material strength and the tear member has a certain second material strength, such that when the tear member is in tension, the second material strength functions to slice through the wall of the shrink tubing for enabling blade-free removal of the same. Paired tear members may be diametrically opposed such that when simultaneously tensioned in a diametrical direction, the net stress on the underlying substrate is minimized during the slicing action.

A method of preparing such films (301) and packaging (721) (such as cigarette packs) overwrapped with such films (601) are also described.

Abstract: Generally described, a storage container comprising a removable sleeve positively closely positioned around a receptacle is provided. When positioned on the receptacle, the ends of the sleeve overlap, and the outer overlapping portion is bonded or secured to at least one separation section within an inner overlapped portion. The separation section is defined at least partially by a scored line, with the scored line being a cut that penetrates a top portion of the sleeve. The sleeve is removed by pulling the outer edge of the sleeve radially outward thereby separating the top portion of the sleeve at the separation section from the remaining portion of the sleeve.

A portion of the wing is joined to a corresponding portion of the wall with low-tack adhesive so as to surround a region preset to form a hole for access to the container, the first lifting of the wing opening the hole and the container, and the low-tack adhesive ensuring successive repeated opening and closure actions.

Abstract: A container for a food product includes a wrapper which surrounds a frame. The container can be any polygonal shape which is defined by the shape of the frame. The wrapper forms a top of the container which has an access opening. A sealing layer is adhesively sealed to the top around the opening. The sealing layer is resealable when a tab of the sealing layer is pulled back. The sealing layer is resealable against the top layer to seal the opening when the sealing layer is moved back to a flat position on the top. Various tamper-evident structures are provided to indicate when the container has been initially opened or tampered with.

Abstract: A packaging for food in accordance with the present invention has a packaging material, two perforated lines and a pull tab. The packaging material is formed into a bag with one sealed end. The two perforated lines are formed parallel around the bag. The pull tab is attached inside the bag between the two perforated lines and has at least has one loose end extending outside the bag. Pulling the loose end tears the perforated lines, which divides the bag into two pieces. One piece of the bag is removed to conveniently open the bag.
