Patent number: 5440294Abstract: A system for remotely sensing the delivery of mail to a mailbox uses a transmitter mounted on the mailbox. The transmitter generates a prescribed signal when the door of the mailbox is opened. The system also uses a receiver adapted for placement at a location remote from the transmitter. The receiver has two receiving circuits. The first receiver circuit generates a mail arrival output in response to receipt of the prescribed signal from the transmitter. The first receiver circuit maintains the generation of the mail arrival output regardless of continued receipt of the prescribed signal, until receipt of a prescribed termination command entered by the user. This way, the user knows when the mailbox door has been opened. The second receiver circuit generates a receiver locator output separate from the mail arrival output in response to receipt of the prescribed signal from the transmitter.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1993Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Inventors: Ellen L. Patent number: 4204632Abstract: An indicating assembly designed to be used primarily with container assemblies of the type used for mail depositories installed in multi unit apartment houses, condominiums, or like multi unit dwellings. A switch installed in direct association with the opening of the main unit of the apartment complex, wherein the switch is interconnected in circuit between a power source and an electromagnetic indication device. Opening of the switch and thereby breaking of the circuit is caused by the post office delivery opening the main assembly normally required for the disposition of mail in the individual mail boxes or compartments. Breaking of the circuit causes disengagement of the electromagnetic device with a base element formed from magnetically attracted material such as metal.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1978Date of Patent: May 27, 1980Inventor: Hulet H.
