Abstract: A newspaper delivery receptacle or tube having a bottom, sides and a top, closed at one end constituting its back end and open at its front end. The receptacle is mounted in a generally horizontal position on a post by means of a bracket having a vertical leg adapted to be fastened to the post and a horizontal leg extending laterally outwardly from the vertical leg to be slidably engaged with the bottom of the receptacle. This bracket leg has an opening and the bottom of the receptacle has a boss constituting a snap fastener so that as the receptacle is slid into engagement with the bracket the boss will snap into the opening thereby fastening the receptacle to the bracket.
Abstract: A retractable mailbox assembly includes three concentric cylinders with the outer mounted underground and the middle and inner cylinders telescopically mounted to rise out of the ground in response to air pressure with the middle cylinder mounted to rise linearly a predetermined height and latched at that height by magnetic latches and the inner cylinder mounted to rise an additional predetermined height beyond that of the middle cylinder to permit a rotatable mailbox pivotally mounted at the top of the inner cylinder to be opened by a rack and pinion mechanism to permit depositing or withdrawal of mail. Air pressure to raise the middle and inner cylinders is transmitted from water cooled air storage means, illustratively a plurality of storage pipes, through an air diffuser controlled by a pneumatic solenoid valve.
Abstract: An improved mail box support device comprised of an arm having a first and second end with means to support a mail box at the first end thereof and having means at its second end to be rotatably mounted on a shaft supported on a post, the arm being bent at an angle near its second end and the shaft extending from the post at the same angle as the arm is bent so that when the mail box is struck by a moving object, it rotates out of the moving object's path.
Abstract: A bracket for mounting a newspaper delivery box or the like to a support structure comprises an elongated rectangular base having a single corrugation formed therein, the corrugation having means for mounting the bracket to the support structure. Preferably, means are provided for bracing the bracket to the support structure and an arm is provided to supply additional support to a box mounted thereon.
Abstract: A mailbox standard for maintaining roadside mail receptacles. Fundamentally, the invention includes a vertical post inserted into the ground and having extending therefrom, and perpendicular thereto, a horizontal member upon which the mailbox may be maintained. The horizontal member is rotational with respect to the vertical member and is biased by either gravity or mechanical biasing devices to maintain a predetermined normal position.
