Patent number: 4970377Abstract: An odometer having a reset mechanism with a single spring that has a torsion section acting on the reset mechanism to bias pinions into engagement with the odometer wheels and a compression section for biasing the pinions into a predetermined axial position relative tot he odometer wheels.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1990Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Assignee: Delco Electronics Overseas CorporationInventor: Michael J. Corcoran

Patent number: 4970378Abstract: Geared drive for reset trip odometer in which a transfer tooth on each of the rotatable odometer wheels is immediately ahead of the tooth space in the circular track on the wheels for tracking the wide teeth of the associated transfer pinion gear and laterally clear of the narrow pinion teeth. With the wide teeth normally riding on the track of the wheel, there is a gear locking action if a reverse drive occurs to limit wheel droop from a reference line and anti-locking action when reset is attempted so that the wheels can be forwardly driven to record trip distances.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1989Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Assignee: Delco Electronics CorporationInventor: William L. Bleicher

Patent number: 4612435Abstract: A simple mechanical counting device is disclosed. The counting device includes a simple zero reset mechanism which enables the counter to be easily reset to zero by the use of a finger of the human hand.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1985Date of Patent: September 16, 1986Assignee: Sodeco-Saia AGInventor: Roberto Polidoro

Patent number: 4500779Abstract: A multiple-shaft meter encoding register having each shaft clutched to the gear train includes a cam attached to each shaft in a predetermined angular relationship thereto. An alignment tool is removably positioned in a predetermined position with respect to the frame of the register, such that interdial alignment can be accomplished by individually rotating each shaft until it respective cam engages a surface of the alignment tool.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1982Date of Patent: February 19, 1985Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventor: Emmett D. Killingsworth

Patent number: 4009370Abstract: A counting or indicating ring device has indicating rings which are respectively provided with numerals or marks on a pitch circle thereof and are supported by a shaft, step advancing means spaced adjacent to one of the indicating rings to advance it step by step, operating means arranged parallel and eccentric to the ring axis and longitudinally movable to operate the step advancing means relative to the indicating rings, resetting means for resetting the indicating rings and which includes a knob to drive the shaft to rotate after pushing operation thereof, and a stopping bar spaced close to the indicating ring peripheries coacting with the pushing operation of the knob. The shaft has a click-stop spaced in the casing for stopping the shaft at a predetermined angular position thereof. The knob is also used for effecting the engagement and disengagement of the operating means with the step advancing means, with a proper angular rotation without pushing-in.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1975Date of Patent: February 22, 1977Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Daini SeikoshaInventor: Kouichi Otsuka

Patent number: 3988576Abstract: A presettable counter operated control mechanism employing a spring lock latching arrangement for releasably locking a rotatable control member in different angularly loaded positions. A coil spring connected to the control member encircles a first drum and is selectively frictionally anchored to the drum by a latching arrangement which is releasable by the counter reaching a referenced count to releasably lock the control member at a particular angular position. Two latches provide for releasably locking the control member at two different angular positions thereof, and are tripped at two respective referenced counts, with both latches being tripped at the later reference count. Final release of the control member is operative to terminate counting operation. An interlock between the control member and the wheel presetting mechanism prevents interference with the setting of the counter wheels while the control member is locked and the counter is counting.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1975Date of Patent: October 26, 1976Assignee: Veeder Industries, Inc.Inventor: Bruno S. Smilgys
