Patent number: 6105859Abstract: A trash can having a trash bag storage compartment and trash bag counter device includes a trash can having a bag storage receptacle at its bottom end. A first embodiment relates to a device for visually displaying the number of bags remaining in a stack placed within the storage compartment. A weight biased rod drives a counter mechanism and rests on the upper surface of the stack so that when a bag is removed, the counter display output changes by a single unit. A second embodiment relates to a means for indicating the number of bags remaining on a roll placed within the storage compartment. An arm is secured to an end of the bag roll which rotates to engage a pivotable lever as a bag is being removed from the roll. The lever thrusts a vertical rod upwardly which is in communication with a counter mechanism display to change the display output each time a bag is pulled from the roll.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1998Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Inventor: Todd Stafford

Patent number: 5705982Abstract: An apparatus for detecting intrusions into spaces of various kinds such as apartments, offices, lockers, and the like by either authorized or unauthorized persons apparatus monitors a specific portal for intrusion occurrence events using an intrusion sensing unit, which communicates intrusion occurrence information to a remote, and possibly hidden monitor unit. The monitor dynamically counts the number of valid intrusion occurrence signals received from the sensing unit and stores the same in non-volatile memory. The number of intrusions stored in memory can be displayed on a display means at the monitor unit, which, in a simple embodiment would take the form of a single, seven segment light emitting diode (LED) display. In addition, the number of intrusions stored in the non-volatile memory can only be reset by the input of a unique, coded personal identification number (PIN) signal from an input keypad located on the monitor unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: North America Technitron CorporationInventor: John P.
