Moving Elements Patents (Class 235/201ME)
  • Patent number: 5190356
Abstract: An AND-type control valve useful in a vehicle braking system to prevent application of the vehicle brakes when only the right-hand or left-hand vehicle brakes are applied for the purpose of steering the vehicle. The control valve has two input flowpaths corresponding to the hydraulic braking circuit on different sides of the vehicle and a control output port for connection to the vehicle brake valve. Each input flowpath contains a non-return valve having associated therewith a flow sensitive device to provide a restricted flowpath which gives rise to a pressure drop which will tend to close or assist in closure of the non-return valve. A device is provided to prevent simultaneous closure of both non-return valves.

  • Patent number: 4458519
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an air pressure sensor comprising a first air passage, a branch passage having an opening into the air passage, a sensor in the branch passage responsive to variation in air pressure in the opening and jet means for air flow through the first passage adjacent the opening to the branch passage to create an increased depression in static pressure as compared with the remainder of the air passage to enhance the response of the pressure sensor in the branch passage when air flow through the first passage occurs. The air passage terminates in a probe having an orifice to be opened and closed by the absence of and presence of a surface in contact with the probe so that the pressure sensor indicates whether or not the probe is in contact with the surface.

  • Patent number: 4248267
Abstract: Fluid logic elements are combined in various ways to provide staging, shift register and binary flip-flop functions. The elements used to provide the complex functions include a flip-flop element, sequential AND and sequential NOT elements in various combinations. For example, two sequential AND elements or two sequential NOT elements may be arranged with a single flip-flop element to provide a shift register or a binary flip-flop function. A single sequential AND element or a single sequential NOT element in combination with a single flip-flop element provide a staging function. Combinations of the multiple element devices provide enhanced control functions.

  • Patent number: 4205700
Abstract: The invention provides the functional reliability of an automatic device, constituted by the association of phase cells comprising, for each phase, a pneumatic AND gate and bistable memory, which is ensured by the interposition of a threshold relay between the feedback interrupter associated with a phase all and the control input of the memory.

  • Patent number: 4194533
Abstract: The invention provides a control circuit for a pneumatic shift register constituted by phase cells associated with an assembly of two threshold relays, each having a supply input and a control input which inhibits the output when the pressure that it receives is not lower than a pressure threshold which is low with respect to the control threshold of the memory contained in the cell.

  • Patent number: 4072172
Abstract: An instantaneous signal applied to the inlet of the timing device is passed through a restrictor into a capacitance and the resultant rising pressure is compared with an adjustable-level reference pressure signal which defines the timing period. When the capacitance pressure exceeds the reference signal value, a comparison signal initiates the release of an obturator. The reference pressure propagates to the outlet of the device and produces the time-delay signal.

  • Patent number: 4046159
Abstract: The pneumatic logic circuit is of generally symmetrical structure around an axis and symmetrical with respect to a median plane normal to this axis. It has a median plate provided with an axial passage and with a duct opening into this passage. On each side of the median plane is a diaphragm constituted by a flat sheet of rubber or of synthetic elastomer with, on its outer surface, a centering shoulder and with an axial cylindrical passage. It comprises axially a piston rod, passing freely through said passage of the median plate and with fluid-tightness through said passages of the diaphragm and bearing two pistons.

  • Patent number: 4027762
Abstract: Each wire of a wire printer is driven by a separate pneumatic motor. Each motor is actuated by compressed air which is selectively passed through an electrically operated valve for each motor. Each valve is actuated by an electric signal indicating whether the associated printing wire should be driven to print a desired character. Coupled between a compressed air source and all of the individual valves is an electrically operated pressure control valve which is normally closed to block transmission of compressed air from the source to the individual valves. After the individual valves are opened by electric signals to permit the printing of a desired character, the control valve is then opened to permit transmission of the compressed air through the opened individual valves to actuate the individual pneumatic motors to drive the print wires necessary to print the desired character.

  • Patent number: 3996956
Abstract: An electro-fluid interface device utilizes a control member that oscillates within a generally cylindrical chamber between an opposed pair of nozzles located at the ends of the chamber. Each nozzle is in fluid communication with a fluid supply, a fluid outlet, and a fluid drain. A coil or coils energized in response to an electrical input signal pulse width modulate the oscillation of the control member to produce a fluid flow through the outlets that is proportional to the electrical signal. In a preferred form, a pair of the coils is energized to oscillate the control element electromagnetically in cooperation with fluid flow forces on the control member due to the flow through the nozzles. Means for sensing the position of the control element switch the energizing current between the coils.
