  • Patent number: 8783567
Abstract: Systems and methods of integrating weapons systems with the aircraft systems of an aircraft carrying the weapon so as to generate on the aircraft in flight a display indicative of the weapon successfully engaging a target are disclosed. The system can include a ground station for generating a database describing the weapon performance envelope, a generator for creating coefficients characteristic of that performance envelope using a generic algorithm and an uploader for uploading the coefficients to the aircraft, and a reconstructor on the aircraft containing the same generic algorithm and adapted to select the coefficients for the algorithm according to the aircraft and target conditions in order to generate the feasibility display, wherein the algorithm is generic to both air to ground and air to air weapons.

  • Patent number: 8602303
Abstract: Systems and methods based on firing table fitting allow interception of a small low-altitude low-velocity target. A system includes: a target detecting system, a directing control system, a launch control system, an interception execution system, a communication bus a, a communication bus b and a communication bus c. Firing table data under a standard working condition and fitting parameters under different working conditions are pre-stored in the system. Based on target flight data and environment condition parameters, a lead aiming point is predicted, a time sequence of each stage of a fight flow is controlled, and firing data are output to execute an interception by the launch control system. An interception operation is simplified, a ground control of a non-controlled bomb fight flow is realized, a single shot success probability of an interception system is increased, and an interception cost is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8543990
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for testing software with real-time source data from a projectile according to various aspects of the present invention operate in conjunction with a real-time data source, a signal processor, a recordable medium, and a testing platform. The signal processor receives real-time data from a real-time data source during a test and saves it to a storage medium before providing the real-time data to the testing platform for permanent storage. During a subsequent test, the testing platform may upload the saved real-time data to the signal processor foregoing the need to generate new real-time data from the real-time data source.

  • Patent number: 8141473
Abstract: In methods and apparatuses, a weapon includes a trigger module for sensing trigger input from a shooter and generating a trigger signal, and a firing module for controlling firing of a projectile responsive to a fire control signal. The weapon also includes an image sensor configured for mounting on the weapon and sensing a series of images over a time period of interest while the trigger signal is in a motion-estimation state. A controller is configured for determining when to fire the weapon by receiving the images from the image sensor and generating a motion estimation history over the time period of interest responsive to changes in the images. The controller is also configured for determining a centroid of the motion estimation history and asserting the fire control signal when the trigger signal is in a fire-enable state and a current image is within an offset threshold from the centroid.

  • Patent number: 7963442
Abstract: A Reconfigurable Nose Control System (RNCS) is designed to adjust the flight path of spin-stabilized artillery projectiles. The RNCS uses the surface of a projectile nose cone as a trim tab. The nose cone may be despun by the action of aerodynamic surfaces, to zero spin relative to earth fixed coordinates using local air flow, and deflected by a simple rotary motion of a Divert Motor about the longitudinal axis of the projectile. A forward section of the nose cone having an ogive is mounted at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the projectile, forming an axial offset of an axis of the forward section with respect to the longitudinal axis of the projectile. Another section of the nose cone includes another motor, the Roll Generator Motor, that is rotationally decoupled from the forward section and rotates the deflected forward section so that its axis may be pointed in any direction within its range of motion.

  • Patent number: 5971275
Abstract: A system for collecting, storing, and verifying the data pulse train for arm and safing of a nuclear warhead on a submarine using MK 63 or 67 torpedo tubes is provided. The components of the system include a notebook computer operating four software programs. The software programs allow collection of the data pulse train, graphing of the collected data, comparing of the collected data with validated samples, and verifying of the validity of the collected data. The notebook computer operates the system through data acquisition expansion boards and a combat control system interface board connected to a Prearm Load Simulator. Data is also recorded on a strip chart recorder which is connected to the system through the Prearm Load Simulator. An adapter cable connects the system to a digital missile simulator and to the submarine's combat control system via the torpedo tube breech door interface.

  • Patent number: 5877696
Abstract: A weapons security system composed of containers for storage of warheads or warhead material. The containers are equipped to detect breaches in the enclosure walls and to transmit an alarm signal in the event of a breach. The alarm signal is received by a local control center for transmission to a central weapons command. The central weapons command may also receive the alarm directly. The central weapons command despatches forces to counter the threat identified by the alarm. Also, the central weapons command dispatches electronic authorization or opening codes to the containers or their local guardians. The containers may be equipped with entry deterrent devices and warhead destructive devices which are triggered by the detection of a breach in the enclosure.
