Games Patents (Class 235/88G)
  • Patent number: 4736093
Abstract: A special purpose calculator for determining the optimum degree of flexibility for a matched set of golf clubs, tailored to the driving capability of the individual golfer. The calculator first correlates the effective driving capability of the individual to an empirically determined optimum flexibility index, which index is based on a standard club length, hosel length, tip insertion depth, and swing weight of the golf club. The calculator next compensates for desired differences, in for example club length and swing weight, to determine a shaft with a compensated flexibility index which will provide the same "feel" as the standard club. The calculator can then also be used to determine the requisite head weights, both wood and iron, as a function of desired club length and swing weight so as to provide the proper flexibility for that individual. For optimum results, the flexibility index is determined by measuring the vibration frequency of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4721309
Abstract: A device for selecting lottery numbers is described, including a folio kit in which the device is mounted and stored, together with other lottery wagering paraphernalia and related items. The device comprises a base on which concentric circles of numbers are displayed, together with a rotatable disc perforated with windows, the base and disc being fastened together at their respective centers. Windows on the base are covered with a transparent film on which various designs are imprinted in a variety of colors. Numbers are obtained by rotating the disc to a chosen reference point on the base, selecting a particular design and color, and observing the numbers displayed in the windows, and within the design color decided upon.

  • Patent number: 4402509
Abstract: A calculator to aid in determining cyclic trends of probability inherent in craps playing functions and thereby increase the potential of winning and decrease the threat of losing is disclosed. A first circular relatively stationary frame disc is attached to a second and larger circular sliding disc at their respective centers. The front face of the first circular disc has an indicator thereon and viewing windows therethrough with identifying indicia lying adjacent to each window. The windows are formed into window groupings corresponding to the selected craps playing function. The second circular sliding disc has printed thereon a plurality of carefully disposed scales, each corresponding to information needed for a particular craps playing function. The first of said scales appears along the rim of the sliding disc.

  • Patent number: 4369357
Abstract: This computer device provides a system for selecting the winners of both horse and dog races, and it consists primarily of a stationary card, having a circular area, in which is imprinted the weights of the horses and dogs, as indicated on track programs. It further includes a rotatable disc, with openings to view the weights of horses and dogs, and the program "odds" are imprinted alongside of each of the openings, the bet selection being the lesser sum of the addition of each of the weights of the horses and the last figure of the "odds" on each horse, the same being applied to dog races.

  • Patent number: 4137448
Abstract: A device for enabling a golfer to determine the proper length of putting stroke according to the distance between ball and hole and according to the lie of the ball. The device comprises a plurality of scales representing relationships between putting strokes and putt distances for various lies. According to visual estimates of the distance and lie of a ball, be it flat, uphill, downhill or sidehill, a golfer may read out from the scales the corresponding putt stroke and aim necessary to hole a putt of any distance and lie.

  • Patent number: 4001551
Abstract: A calculating device and a mechanical method of calculating win, place and show odds for events such as horse races having pari-mutuel wagering systems. The apparatus includes a base member and a pair of slideable members laterally displaceable relative to the base member. A transparent cursor having a hairline located thereon is also laterally displaceable relative to the base member and to the slideable members. In an alternative embodiment, the members and the cursor are rotationally displaceable relative to the base member. The device is arranged so that indicia on a first scale which represent the amount in a wager pool of interest may be positioned relative to a second scale so that the hairline on the cursor may be adjusted to the amount bet on a horse of interest. The win odds of the horse of interest may be directly read beneath the cursor on a third scale and those odds may be calculated in terms of dollars returnable for a given bet on a fourth scale.
