Plural Pilots By Single Actuator Patents (Class 236/80E)
  • Patent number: 5944257
Abstract: A multi-way valve unit which provides low pressure unregulated gas flow and high pressure regulated gas flow in an integrated gas control system. A main and bypass diaphragm valves control gas flow through the gas valve system, the main and bypass valves being opened by pressure differentials on their respective valve diaphragms. A regulator valve and a snap valve modify gas pressure applied to the main and bypass valves diaphragms respectively. A control means actuates the regulator and snap valves based on degree of temperature deficiency sensed in a monitored space. The control means opens the snap valve to provide unregulated gas flow when low gas pressure is required, and opens the regulator valve to provide regulated high flow when high gas pressure is required.

  • Patent number: 5072781
Abstract: An improved temperature control system is disclosed that provides an aircraft working or supply fluid within a desired temperature range for anti-icing, air conditioning and other aircraft subsystems. The supply fluid is bled from compressor stages of a gas turbine engine and passes through a precooler in a heat exchange relationship with a cooling fluid, bled from a fan stage of the engine. A single temperature sensor includes a pair of control poppet or variable orifice ball valves that are adjustably actuated in response to temperature changes of the supply fluid downstream of the precooler. The control poppet valves pneumatically regulate flow of the supply fluid and cooling fluid upstream of the precooler, to keep the supply fluid within the desired temperature range.

  • Patent number: 4108371
Abstract: A variable value, constant volume fluid flow control device has damper means for regulating fluid flow through a conduit to a zone and damper control means for regulating the damper means comprising fluid supply means for diverting a portion of the fluid flow being controlled to the damper control means, transducer means having a first and a second chamber and being responsive to pressure differentials between the first and second chambers for moving the damper means, means for directing the portion of fluid flow to the first and second chambers, vent means for selectively venting either of the first and second chambers and vane means responsive to fluid flow velocity within the conduit for operating the vent means to operate the transducer means. Bias means are provided for biasing the vane means against a direction of the fluid flow through the conduit such that the vane means returns to a neutral position under conditions of optimum fluid flow velocity.

  • Patent number: 4005821
Abstract: A thermomechanical vacuum regulator adapted for use in automatic temperature control systems includes a bimetal strip which flexes in accordance with the temperature of air stream whose temperature is to be controlled. The bimetal strip positions a whiffle tree beam which carries a vacuum valve for communicating a source of vacuum with a chamber within which vacuum is regulated, and a vent valve for communicating the chamber with a source of ambient air. The vent valve seat is located on a floating diaphragm which forms one wall of the chamber. In alternative embodiments, one of the valves is replaced by an orifice and column.
