  • Patent number: 5105741
Abstract: A portable equipment handling apparatus comprises a track assembly that can be laid out in any desired configuration throughout a manufacturing plant, on a construction site or other desired facility. A movable platform is mounted on the track assembly and receives the equipment or supplies that are to be moved through the facility from an old location to a new location. The tugger puller is secured at the new location and the movable platform is loaded with the equipment or supplies at the old location. The activation of the tugger puller pulls the movable platform from the old location, along the track assembly, to the new location at which the equipment or supplies can be offloaded from the movable platform, if desired. The track assembly can include straight and curved segments to allow the track to be laid out in the desired path. The track can be disposed along floors, up and down stairs, along vertical walls and across ceilings.

  • Patent number: 4503778
Abstract: A transportation system for rapidly loading people from a platform into and from a plurality of cars. The system includes an elongated trackway which extends along a platform. Trolleys extend between the trackway and the cars supporting the cars on the trackway. The cars have side doors extending along the length thereof which open towards the platform to provide access to a single row of seats carried in the vehicles facing the doors. The doors can be automatically opened and closed upon reaching the platform. The trackway includes upper lower and intermediate rails upon which upper, lower and intermediate wheels, carried by the trolleys, engage to provide an interlocking relation therebetween. A vertically extending keel is carried by at least some of the vehicles for engaging power driven wheels that are positioned along the trackway.

  • Patent number: 4467924
Abstract: A movable aisle storage system is provided having rail and panel connector units which perform the dual functions of forming the rails and interconnecting the deck panels of the system track and deck assembly. Each connector unit has a substantially cylindrical rail portion and a depending support portion having a pair of upwardly and outwardly extending flange sections which support and secure the sides of the deck panels. Levelling screws threadedly engaging the unit support portion are seated in a channel to facilitate system installation and prevent floor damage. Flexible seal strips are used between the rails and panels thereby reducing system maintenance and permitting access to the levelling screws after system installation. Rail sections are joined to form an extended track by a self-tightening rail section joiner having a pair of tapered head machine screws which threadedly engage holes in abutting rail sections. A joiner member overlies the rail section holes and has openings to receive the screws.

  • Patent number: 4245561
Abstract: A controllable distributing conveying system for transporting people or goods is provided with stations which are arranged on a passive rail network and which include container loading-on positions, container off-loading positions, and container depots. Self-propelled controllable conveying units are movable between the stations and are fitted with pairs of running wheels for normal travel and for travel when being switched in and out and also have container-carrying surfaces separate from the drive section which are coupled by a universal joint member. Containers are loadable onto and off-loaded from the conveying units by means of loading and off-loading arrangements which have active locking members and unlocking members. These containers are held secure in all directions during travel, and are conductable to their destination by the shortest path by means of passive switching-in and switching-out arrangements, and these latter arrangements comprise rails, which the conveying units hold onto.
