Abstract: A fastening system for track rail includes a track rail fastener positionable upon a pedestal mount, and including a top plate, a frame, and an overmolded jacket. The system further includes a lateral positioner having an eccentric structured to contact a pedestal mount, and a locating pin extending through the fastener body and the eccentric to couple a lateral location of the fastener body to an angular orientation of the eccentric, such that rotating the eccentric varies a lateral location of the fastener body. A frame in the fastener body includes a plurality of vertically extending finger walls for lateral and rotational stability, with the overmolded jacket extending between the finger walls and the top plate.
Abstract: The method for evaluating the compactness of a layer of railroad ballast near a railroad tie includes at least one step of taking at least two measurements (11,11a,11b) of the penetration resistance (Qd) of the ballast (13) near one and the same railroad tie (10), and a step of calculating the mean value (Qdmean) of these measurements (11,11a,11b) of penetration resistance (Qd). Also provided are a device for implementing such a method and a method for predicting the settlement of the ballast of a railroad track including a step of evaluating the compactness of a ballast near a railroad tie.

Abstract: A mounting plate fixed to a longitudinally extending rail is secured by a plurality of bolts in a substrate. The mounting plate is formed at each bolt with an array of ridges. An adjuster plate formed with a vertically throughgoing transversely elongated slot through which the respective bolt extends has a lower face formed with an array of downwardly projecting generally complementary to the ridges of the mounting plate and an upper face formed with a central recessed seat defined between two longitudinally extending and parallel edges at a predetermined transverse spacing. A gauge plate formed with two parallel outer edges spaced apart by a distance substantially equal to the transverse spacing of the seat edges and with an eccentric circular hole of a diameter substantially equal to an outer diameter of the shank of the respective bolt that extends vertically through the circular hole fits in the seat.
Abstract: A sealing plate for use with a rail clip anchoring device having a head and a stem which extends from the head into a concrete sleeper when the anchoring device is in use, is adapted for extending over the underside of the head when the stem of the device is being set in a concrete sleeper, thereby to prevent ingress of concrete into the head of the device, and for being retained on the surface of the sleeper thereafter. A major face of the plate, which is uppermost when the sleeper is in use, is provided with at least one clip seat portion for receiving part of a rail clip.
Abstract: A concrete railroad tie, especially a two-block railroad tie, with an elastic rail support for ballast and solid tracks, with guide plates with twisting-prevention devices disposed in the supporting region between the base of the rail and the lateral, raised shoulders of the railroad tie, characterized in that the support area is constructed essentially flat without continuous, deep depressions.

Abstract: A rail tie plate suitable for attachment to a wood tie has a pair of upstanding abutment members to accommodate a rail flange, each having an upwardly facing lower ramp surface inclining from a laterally outer side of the abutment member upwardly inwardly to a laterally inner side to facilitate insertion of a rail clip. The tie plate tapers in thickness and has an upper side canted with respect to the lower side. The lower side is provided with wedge shaped projections that tapers laterally in the same direction as the plate and have an end face making an angle no greater than 90° with respect to the lower side.
Abstract: There is disclosed a rail fastening system for wood or concrete ties having provisions for rail gage adjustment and including a pair of shoulders removably secured to a railway tie plate or a shoulder retaining in a concrete tie with provisions for lateral adjustment of the rails by the placing of a series of spacers between the flange base of the rail and the shoulders, with the dimensions of the spacers selected to provide constant deflection of the rail clips, if used, regardless of the adjusted position of the rail.
Abstract: An elongate plate, for use in a railway frog or switch to receive two inclined rails which stand on the plate and on another plate like it and are to be anchored thereto, has an elongate hole through it, with the length of the hole being parallel to that of the plate. A recess is formed in the underneath face of the plate at one end of the elongate hole by counterboring after the elongate hole has been formed by punching, the recess forming a widening of the undersurface region of the elongate hole at that end thereof. Correspondingly, an associated clip anchoring device includes an upper part for anchoring a rail clip and a lower part which has an inverted T shape.
Abstract: The assembly is made up of four components. First is a rectangular, steel base plate designed to lie between the rail and the tie structure. The plate has a hole near each end. The second component is a clip that holds the rail to the base plate. The third and fourth components are a pair of anchoring devices, one for each end of the base plate. Each anchoring device has three parts. The first part is a steel base member having a first end that is nearest to the rail, a second end that is opposite the first end and extends at least to the adjacent end of the base plate, and a middle section joining the first and second ends. A flange-headed hook projects upwardly from the first end of the base member. The first end of the base member fits in the hole in the base plate so as to interlock the base plate with the anchoring device, like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The flanged head of the hook overlaps part of the base plate, so as to hold it down.
Abstract: A narrow metal plate is embedded in the upper surface of a concrete tie and is curved at one end to form a vertical abutment which projects several centimeters. The plate extends under a rail and is fixedly attached to a tightening bolt which extends through a clip, the end portions of which correspond respectively to the edge of the flange or foot of the rail and the curved end portion of the plate, so that the plate alone supports the tightening forces.
