Spring Patents (Class 238/349)
  • Patent number: 4025044
Abstract: A method of making a resilient double C-shaped clip for securing a rail on a support, wherein in advance of the heat treatment the ends adapted to cooperate with the support and with the foot of the rail are bent towards one another in the direction of the fastening force to such an extend that they are offset with respect with one another over a certain distance in relation to their position when the ready clip is free of load and wherein after the heat treatment the clip is subjected to a series of permanent deformations, each effected by imposing a permanent deformation force on one end of the clip while the other end is held in fixed position, such that upon a continued deformation there would be no increase or only a very small increase of the load, and the clip being relieved of load after each deformation.

  • Patent number: 4003517
Abstract: The fastener structure comprises at least one main bending strip which defines an aperture for the passage of a clamping bolt for the fastener structure. An elastically yieldable second strip extends transversely of the general direction of the fastener structure and is curved in the direction of the length of the second strip and has its concavity facing the main strip. The two ends of the second bear against the edges of the main strip.

  • Patent number: 3986667
Abstract: A stock rail fastening for switches of railway track installations in which a slide chair and spring U-clip fix one flange of a stock rail to a baseplate, and a clamp fixes the other flange of the stock rail to the baseplate. The slide chair has one side overhanging the one flange and is spaced apart from the base plate to provide a recess therebetween. The spring U-clip is within the recess under bending tension and has a loop portion bearing against the one flange, and a pair of arms extending from the loop portion and having spaced apart ends supported on notches at another side of the slide chair. The entirety of the U-clip is polygonal in cross section, the arms between the loop portion and the ends have a portion which is square in cross section, and the arms each have a side face parallel to a horizontal plane when the U-clip is tension free.

  • Patent number: 3982692
Abstract: Clamping means are disclosed for connecting the lateral edges of the foot portion of a T-shaped rail to a support in such a manner as to permit limited separation between the rail and the support components while restraining the rail against lateral displacement relative to the support. Each clamping device is formed from a unitary resilient metal blank having a fastening portion secured to the support to prevent lateral displacement of the rail, a resilient blade portion for biasing the rail against the support, and at least one stop portion limiting the extent to which the rail may be separated from the support against the biasing force of the blade portion.

  • Patent number: 3970248
Abstract: A combined rail clip and anchorage for holding down a flanged track rail has a resilient clip of U-shaped or cranked form, the end of one arm of which will bear down on the rail flange and the other arm will be received in a passageway in the anchorage. A stepped tip to the one arm will lock behind the end of the passageway when the clip is pressed fully home.In one arrangement both arms are directed towards the rail flange and received within the anchorage, whereas in another arrangement the one arm of the clip lies over the flange, and the other being held in the anchorage passageway to lie alongside the longitudinally extending rail flange.

  • Patent number: 3957201
Abstract: An improved anchor structure for use with concrete railroad ties. A modular base plate is cast into the concrete tie with integral upwardly projecting shoulders extending from the base plate which complement it to present a seat to support a steel railroad rail. An anchoring portion is also integral with each shoulder and extends downwardly to anchor the device in the tie. The shoulder also presents an opening for receiving a retaining spring clip. A resilient rubber or fiber pad is disposed on the seat between the rail and the base plate. The pad is characterized by laterally projecting tabs which abut the bridging portion on either side to preclude lateral movement of the pad. The retaining spring clip engages the rail base and also has a leg projecting through the opening. A curvilinear portion of the clip complementally engages an arcuate segment of the briding portion while a second leg is disposed in a groove presented by the bridging portion.

  • Patent number: 3945566
Abstract: A railroad track fastener assembly consisting of a spring plate and a resilient seat for a railroad rail comprising a pad of resilient material positioned between the rail base and the base of a spring plate. The spring plate may be bolted to any type of cross tie or foundation of concrete, steel, or wood. The pad of resilient material is formed with a plurality of spaced vertical holes and is either bonded to the base of the spring plate and is freely positioned within the spring plate. The pad is retained within the spring plate by spring shoulder clips that are secured to the spring plate shoulders resiliently checking the upward motion of the rail under a heavy load. Guard rails and braces are provided for maintaining the wheels of rolling stock on the rails while rounding curves.

  • Patent number: 3934800
Abstract: A track rail anchorage comprises a base member having projection flanges projecting from the two ends thereof, either of which may be placed so as to locate over the flange of a rail to be located in position. The base is provided with asymmetrical mounting means so that when one projection flange in location with the rail flange is exchanged for the other, the position of the new projection flange relative to the rail will be displaced towards or away from the rail, thus catering for possible displacements of parts of the rail due to distortion defects. Additional adjustment of the anchorage position may be achieved by employing a variable, eccentric, mounting in the base to receive a mounting bolt fixed in the ground.
