Integral With Tie Patents (Class 238/350)
  • Patent number: 4688719
Abstract: A cast rail clip support of the kind used in concrete railway sleepers wherein one portion (17) of the rail clip is held in the rail clip support (19) and a second portion of the clip (16) bears down on the rail flange. The recess (26) of the rail clip support has slots (32) shaped to accommodate in a neat fit the base portion 17 of the rail clip. The clip when held in the recess 16 abuts the lower contact surface 33 and the end of the base portion 17 abuts the upper contact surface 34 which is inclined 3.degree. above the horizontal. This arrangement presents the clip from being accidentally knocked from its position in the rail clip support.

  • Patent number: 4448349
Abstract: There is disclosed a rail sleeper which when secured to rails affords rapid disengagement when necessary and is comprised of a metal bar of a U-shaped channel section. At two locations along the length of the bar portions of flanges of the sleeper are removed to provide slots disposed at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the bar. Each slot is wider than the base of the rail fitting thereinto with the space between slots dependent upon the gage between parallel rails and with the depth of such slots being varied to suit rail height. One rail flange is secured in place by an overhanging portion of the sleeper flanges. The other rail flange is secured by a generally T-shaped steel plate which is bolted to the bottom of the U-shaped channel section such that the horizontal bar of the T-shaped plate rests across the upright flanges of the sleeper. One edge of the horizontal bar engages the web of the rail and the other edge engages the edge of the slot, thus wedging the rail into secure engagement.

  • Patent number: 4106696
Abstract: A sleeper for receiving and securing a pair of railway rails has openings for receiving the rails for screw-less mounting. Either one or both flanges of the rail foot is secured in the opening by cooperation with a lug of the sleeper. The lug or lugs may be bendable in order to be open for mounting and closed by bending upon mounting for securing the rail. A supporting plate may be provided on the bottom of the opening and may have a resilient layer applied thereon.

  • Patent number: 4106694
Abstract: A railroad bed assembly for supporting thereon metallic railroad tracks is formed with a base structure which consists essentially of reinforced concrete made as prefabricated blocks with the base structure including a slab section adapted to be installed over a ground formation at the railroad bed site and with at least one upwardly extending projection running transversely to the direction of the tracks and having a trapezoidal cross sectional configuration taken in a plane extending parallel to the tracks. The projection and the slab are integrally formed of prestressed concrete material and the projection extends to form a cross tie for supporting thereupon the tracks.

  • Patent number: 4061270
Abstract: A unitized insulating element for use with a steel cross tie is provided. The insulating element is operative to electrically insulate the rail from the steel tie, from retaining elements associated with the tie which prevent lateral movement of the rail relative to the tie and from rail anchors which prevent longitudinal movement of the rail relative to the tie. The insulating element permits use of the rail as an on-line signal control conveying device when steel ties are used and is configured as a tie plate substitute from providing an inwardly-directed cant for the rail to be retained thereon.
