  • Patent number: 10070597
Abstract: A system for controlling the operation of a moving irrigation system lengthens the period of the on-and-off cycle specified by the speed timer to drive the pivot arm assembly. This reduces the frequency of the on-and-off cycles and thereby reduces wear and tear on the drive components. To modify the cycle period, a processor determines a modified on-time and a modified off-time having the same ratio of on-time to off-time as the speed timer to maintain the same average speed for the pivot arm assembly. The processor then controls operation of the pivot arm assembly to move in an on-and-off manner using the modified on-time and modified off-time.

  • Patent number: 8262003
Abstract: The invention concerns a two-part spray application system and method for applying a two-part spray on an object. First and second pumps have outlets, with the pressure at each outlet monitored by pressure transducers. During the spraying process for each object, the pressure at the outlet of each pump must exceed a minimum threshold pressure at least once, or a fault condition is indicated. Such fault conditions may indicate a leak or disconnect in a hose downstream of the pumps.

  • Patent number: 7584902
Abstract: A device carried on a moving vehicle for creating marking lines, which are a plurality of elements and are made of a highly viscous marking material, on a surface that is to be marked. The device includes a housing formed by walls and a discharge slot formed in at least one of the walls of the housing and extending transversely to a direction of movement of the vehicle, the discharge slot being limited in extent by a front discharge slot edge and a rear discharge slot edge, seen in the direction of movement of the vehicle. A pressurized material supply line leads to an interior of the housing. A rotatable hollow cylinder formed of a jacket is located in the interior of the housing and is arranged to rotate with the movement of the vehicle carrying the device. The cylinder is provided with a plurality of passages through the jacket, which, depending on a rotary position of the cylinder, establish a connection between the pressurized material supply line and the discharge slot.

  • Patent number: 7104465
Abstract: A retort is described for use with paperboard containers (48) to reduce moisture absorption during processing of foodstuffs therein. The improvement includes using solid cone spray nozzles (50) with spray angles in the range of about 100 degrees to about 115 degrees. In one embodiment, the distance (D?) between the nozzles and the container is in the range of about 70 mm to about 200 mm. In another embodiment, the flow rate if each nozzle (50) is reduced relative to known systems, while the total vessel flow rate is kept the same as per cubic meter load. Further, an overpressure may be added to the vessel via compressed air. In accordance with other aspects, an Impact reduction is used which relates nozzle flow rate, pressure, distance, etc. with moisture absorption in paperboard containers.

  • Publication number: 20040251313
Abstract: A crop spraying apparatus includes a self-powered blower mounted on the rear rack of an ATV, with an air manifold extending behind the blower. Left and right spray nozzle assemblies are mounted on respective branches of the manifold, each actuatable either individually or together, so that the spray pattern may be directed to either side or both sides of the ATV. A tank is mounted on the front of the ATV, and a pump delivers pressurized liquid from the tank to a pair of isolation valves at the rear of the ATV. From the valves the solution is fed to injectors, each injector secured in one of the spray nozzles. The blast of air exiting each nozzle breaks up the injected solution into a fine mist that is carried by the air stream to the crops.
