Absence Of Fluid Pressure Opens Drain Patents (Class 239/111)
  • Patent number: 11872575
Abstract: A shower assembly includes an inlet port, a reservoir, and a plurality of drop outlet ports. The inlet port receives water from a water source at an inlet flow rate. The reservoir receives water from the inlet port, and is not pressurized by a line pressure of the water source regardless of the inlet flow rate. Each of the plurality of drop outlet ports is configured such that water passes from the reservoir through the plurality of drop outlet ports, forms a drop at each drop outlet port, and falls from each drop outlet port by gravity only as discrete drops of water.

  • Patent number: 11213833
Abstract: A shower assembly includes a first outlet, a second outlet, a first inlet, a stopper, and an actuator assembly. The first inlet is configured to provide water to the shower assembly from a water supply. The stopper is movable between a first stopper position and a second stopper position. When the stopper is in the first stopper position, water exits the shower assembly through the first outlet and is prevented from exiting the shower assembly through the second outlet. When the stopper is in the second stopper position, water is permitted to exit the shower assembly through the second outlet. The actuator assembly is configured to move the stopper between the first stopper position and the second stopper position.

  • Patent number: 7766262
Abstract: Valves for use in irrigation systems include a moveable sealing member disposed within a valve body. The moveable sealing member is configured to close automatically the valve when the magnitude of a pressure differential between the inlet and the outlet of the valve body reaches a predetermined threshold value and to open automatically the valve when the magnitude of the pressure differential falls below the predetermined threshold value. Irrigation systems include such valves and methods for flushing debris out of the irrigation systems using such valves.

  • Patent number: 7427037
Abstract: A showerhead facilitating draining of water retained following shut-off. The showerhead includes a housing swivelably fitted on a ball-adapter which in turn includes an integral threaded segment for attachment to a water feed line. An air pathway is formed to extend from inside to outside the ball-adapter where it opens to generally atmospheric pressure. A flexible check valve in the form of an annular skirt is retained by an integral ring portion where the ball-adapter is threaded to the feed line. Under water-flow pressure, the skirt expands, blocking the passage. Upon shut-off, the skirt withdraws, instantly opening the air passage. Opening the showerhead to atmospheric pressure relieves the normally occurring suction effect which keeps water from draining completely from the showerhead spray holes. Thus avoiding the widespread problem of trapped water slowly evaporating and leaving behind stubborn and unsightly mineral deposits that eventually build up to clog showerhead spray holes.

  • Patent number: 5954268
Abstract: A fluid delivery apparatus includes a housing having an open end and an interior surface. The interior of the housing defines a cavity within the housing. The cavity, in combination with a piston-like member, defines a reservoir for containing a fluid (e.g. such as an aromatic or other solvent or a solvent in which has been dissolved an aromatic substance). The piston has a port, and fits in piston-like arrangement within a cylinder contained within the housing. The piston moves within the housing, and movement of the piston acts to displace fluid from the port upon contraction of the reservoir (e.g. when the annular piston is driven into the device). Preferably, a fluid tight membrane covers the housing's open end. The apparatus also preferably further includes a conduit to transport fluid from the housing of the reservoir. The conduit has, on a first end, an exterior circumference sized and shaped to interact with the port of the annular member.

  • Patent number: 5640991
Abstract: Siphon freeze drain valve for an underground water sprinkling system including a line operating under water pressure, the drain valve being a U-shaped tube, one end of which is passed through a hole in the top of the line, the other end of which is outside the line at a lower level than the first end. A clamp and a seal holds the tube in the line against the force of the water in the line and prevents leaking around the tube. A check valve is in the end of the tube outside the line, the check valve selectively opened and closed to control flow through the tube and for establishing a siphon for draining the line.

  • Patent number: 4763837
Abstract: In one aspect a novel valve, when used with water conveying conduits of water supply or of irrigation systems, will purge them of residual water in the conduits, when the water supply is "cut off", but will close the system when the water supply is on (e.g. there is water pressure above a predetermined threshold, or a "head" occurs). When this valve is closed the system then operates, conventionally, and for irrigation systems to eject water from water dispensing nozzles or spray heads located at or in proximity to the ground surface so that irrigation can take place. With this novel valve, the periodic (or annual) need to purge the irrigation system of residual water to clean out contaminants or to prevent winter freeze-up is avoided, since self-purging of the residual water and of any water suspended solids in the network takes place each time the water pressure in the system is reduced to approximately zero (or to below the said predetermined threshold pressure), as on each occurance of water shut off.

  • Patent number: 4234125
Abstract: A long-extension pop-up sprinkler for subsurface installation and irrigation of overlying plantings. A wiper seal or ring at the top of the sprinkler body strips sand and dirt from a riser which retracts when inlet water is turned off, and this seal is water flushed during both extension and retraction of the riser. An internal moving seal at the bottom of the riser isolates the wiper ring from line-pressure water, and enables flushing of the ring during both riser extension and retraction by water trapped within the sprinkler body.

  • Patent number: 3987810
Abstract: A valve for incorporation in a fuel line, between a pump and a fuel burner, has a valve chamber and a valve member in the chamber. The valve member normally closes a connection from the pump to the burner, but opens this connection in response to a suitably raised pump discharge pressure. Means are provided whereby, upon the shutting off of such pump discharge pressure, the valve not only closes but momentarily causes fuel to be drawn from the line to the burner, to prevent fuel from dripping out of the burner and from thereby causing smell, spillage or clogging of the burner.
