  • Patent number: 8567692
Abstract: A sprinkler includes an oscillating tube that receives water from a supply, and the tube oscillates about a longitudinal axis through a range of radial angles. A plurality of nozzles spaced along the oscillating tube distribute water generally upward and outward from the oscillating tube to create a water distribution pattern on the ground. The longitudinal angles of at least some of the nozzles are automatically selectively regulated as a function of the radial angle of the oscillating tube, controlling the impact locations on the ground of the water emanating from the respective nozzles. The longitudinal angles may be automatically regulated such that the water emanating from the respective nozzles reaches parallel, rectilinear, evenly-spaced impact locations on the ground. The ranges of radial angles traversed by at least some of the nozzles may be automatically regulated such that the ends of the water distribution pattern are rectilinear.

Abstract: A sprinkler has a sprinkling device, and an inlet controlling device and an end cap respectively mounted on two opposite ends of the sprinkling device. The sprinkling device has a casing having outlet holes, and two regulating panels having regulating slots, two regulating wheels, two transmission rods and a cover having limit slots mounted on the casing. The outlet holes, the regulating slots and the limit slots respectively align with each other and are mounted around multiple nozzles. Turning the regulating wheels forces the nozzles to bend through the regulating panels so the sprinkler has a variety of sprinkling patterns to be suitable for every place where the sprinkler is placed. The nozzles are individually manufactured and are easily mounted on the casing and replaced.

Abstract: A device is disclosed that uses a flow-control methodology to control sprays at very high precision and frequency. The device is based on an enhanced Coanda effect. The control flow is selectively applied to the region in which we desire the jet to vector and control the profile (width) of the jet. In one embodiment, the control flow is applied at the desired circumferential location by the action of a rotting disk with a flow passage of a size that spreads the jet the desired amount. The size of this flow passage may be controlled by using two overlapping disks with large holes in each. By rotating one disk relative to the other, the size of the resultant passage can be modified.

The flow volume of the water stream being thrown by the sprinkler nozzle is adjusted by selectively operating a flow volume adjustment member carried on the nozzle body to selectively open or close various of the nozzle tubes in various possible combinations. The flow volume of the nozzle will comprise the combined or aggregate flow volumes of the water sub-streams being thrown by those nozzle tubes that are left open. The trajectory of the water stream being thrown by the sprinkler nozzle is adjusted by selectively operating a trajectory adjustment member carried on the nozzle body to bend the flexible nozzle tubes about their vertically fixed, radial inner ends to raise and lower the radial outer ends of the nozzle tubes.

  • Patent number: 5441566
Abstract: Methods and mechanisms for encrusting a load of coal to minimize loss of coal dust during transport of a coal load are provided. The mechanisms involve a device, apparatus, and injection unit for applying a rotating stream of aqueous binder composition with sufficient hydraulic force into a load of coal to create a thick protective crust. The binder composition may contain conventional binding agents, but preferably contains wood fibers for formation of the crust. The crust minimizes loss of coal during transport by providing a protective shield against air currents.

  • Patent number: 5307993
Abstract: A rotary sprinkler is provided having a stationary base portion, with a water inlet for attachment to a conventional garden hose, and a vertically oriented water outlet having a body portion rotatably secured thereto. A plurality of generally cylindrical arms extend radially from the body portion, with each arm having a nozzle unit disposed on the distal end thereof. Each nozzle unit includes a plurality of nozzles formed therein, and may be selectively positioned longitudinally so as to expose a different number of such nozzles to the water supply. The nozzle unit may be rotated relative to its respective arm, so that the water discharged through the nozzles operates to drive the body/arm assembly about the base. The rotational velocity of the body/arm assembly may be controlled by the user of the sprinkler by adjusting the rotational orientation of the plurality of nozzle units.

Abstract: A fluid jet cleaning system includes a nozzle body having an axis. A nozzle is adjustably mounted within the nozzle body, the nozzle disperses fluid streams along a centerline. An adjustment device adjusts a relative position between the centerline and the axis. The adjustment device includes longitudinally extendable rod members, configured to contact the nozzle to restrict motion of the nozzle towards each rod member. This adjustment system may be used in conjunction with regular fluid jet cutting systems or the abrasive cutting jet system. Abrasives are injected into the fluid within a chamber formed in the nozzle.

Abstract: A portable lawn sprinkler comprising a housing assembly having means defining a fixed horizontally extending water inlet having a female hose fitting on the exterior end thereof and a spaced fixed annular wall providing an interior periphery defining an annular vertically opening water outlet. A speed reducing unit is mounted within the housing assembly. An impeller is drivingly associated with the input shaft of the speed reducing unit in a position to be rotated by water under pressure flowing from the inlet to the outlet. A rotary water distributor is fixed to the output shaft of the speed reducing unit disposed in water communicating relation with the outlet. An annular member is mounted for axial movement within the annular water outlet and in surrounding relation with the output shaft and has an exterior periphery disposed within the interior periphery of said fixed annular wall.

  • Patent number: 4702417
Abstract: A water sprinkler which includes a casing and an oscillatory sprinkler head mounted on the casing. The casing includes a water inlet and two water outlet paths. Within the casing there is a structure which cyclically connects the water inlet first to one outlet path and then to the other. The oscillatory sprinkler head includes two spray nozzles which direct water generally tangentially. The nozzles are arranged so that the reaction force when water flows from one nozzle rotates the sprinkler head in one direction and when water flows from the other nozzle the sprinkler head is rotated in the other direction. Each nozzle is in communication with a respective one of the outlet paths. The angle through which the sprinkler head moves can be adjusted.
