  • Patent number: 9964086
Abstract: Embodiments may provide a fuel injector including a nozzle body having one or more nozzles, each capable of spraying a fuel from a respective spray position, and movable to change the spray position from a first position to a second position. An injector needle may be configured for axial movement relative to the nozzle body from an engaged position, to prevent flow through the one or more nozzles, to a disengaged position. The movement of the one or more nozzles from the first position to the second position and then back to the first position may substantially correspond with, and/or may be substantially be determined by, the relative axial movement between the injector needle and the nozzle body from the engaged position to the disengaged position and then back to the engaged position.

Abstract: A dishwasher appliance includes a mid-level spray arm assembly and a diverter disposed in a conduit of the assembly. The diverter includes a disk positioned within a chamber and rotatable about an axis, the disk defining an aperture for selectively controlling fluid flow from the chamber into outlet channels, the disk movable along the axial direction between a first position and a second position, the disk defining a channel and a plurality of cams projecting into the channel. The diverter further includes a biasing element configured to urge the disk into the first position, and a boss extending from the housing into the channel of the disk, the boss defining a plurality of guide elements. The guide elements and cams are configured to interact so that movement of the disk along the axial direction between the first position and the second position causes the disk to rotate about the axis.

  • Patent number: 8998107
Abstract: A sprinkler head includes a first housing carrying a center stem having an inlet at an upstream end and an outlet at a downstream end. A second housing is supported within the first housing and encloses a nozzle and a pressure regulator in axially-aligned relationship, defining a flowpath between the inlet and an orifice of the nozzle. The second housing is normally biased to a retracted position but is moveable to an extended position relative to the first housing and to the center stem. A surface of the pressure regulator cooperates with the outlet of the center stem as the second housing moves relative to the first housing to regulate pressure to the nozzle orifice.

  • Publication number: 20100025492
Abstract: A high pressure rotary nozzle having a rotating shaft operating within a fixed housing wherein the of axial force which acts upon the shaft due to the fluid pressure at the shaft inlet is balanced by allowing passage of a small amount of the pressurized fluid to be bled to an area or chamber between the outside of the opposite end of the shaft and the inside of the housing where the fluid pressure can act axially in an opposing direction upon the shaft to balance the axial inlet force. The balance of axial forces is self-regulating by controlling escape of the fluid through a tapered or frusto-conical region between the shaft and housing. This further provides a fluid bearing between the two surfaces and allows use of interchangeable rotating jet heads having jet orifices which can be oriented in virtually any desirable configuration including axially forward of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6514354
Abstract: This invention is directed to a cyclonic power system and method of using the system to clean flat surfaces. The cyclone power system includes a driven spindle that is mounted for rotation about its longitudinal axis. There are a plurality of radially extending straight rod extending from the spindle. Curved blades are connected at one end to the spindle and at their other end to the free end of a straight rod. The centrifugal force, generated as a result of the rotation of the driven spindle is not effective to cause the straight rods, which are constructed of stainless steel, to lengthen and since the curved blades are connected to the straight rods, the centrifugal force is not effective to lengthen the curved blades. In an embodiment of the invention a perforated disc is secured to the bottom surface of the spindle and to the free ends of the straight rods. In this embodiment the water and debris is pulled up through the perforations in the disc.
