Abstract: A dual closure nozzle for use with a hose carrying a liquid under pressure. The dual closure nozzle is made up of an inner delivery conduit attached to an end cap and threaded within an outer sleeve having a nozzle head. The dual closure nozzle is configured to have two different stop positions and to be adjustable between these two stop positions and a variety of open positions. When a liquid is forced through the nozzle, the flow of the liquid can then be adjusted from a first stop position, where no liquid passes out of the nozzle, through a variety of open position spray patterns to a second stop position. This configuration thus provides a nozzle that can be closed by turning the outer sleeve portion of the nozzle in either of two directions, and prevents spray from wetting the person utilizing the device.

Abstract: A low volume-low pressure spray gun (10) for spraying a fluid has a housing (12), a gas input (16), a trigger valve mechanism, and a nozzle (14). The gun (10) has lower and upper air passages (38, 39) which connect the gas input (16) to the trigger valve mechanism (23), and the trigger valve mechanism to the nozzle (14), respectively. The upper passage (39) is offset from the lower passage (38) and is substantially conical in shape, the layout of the passages (38, 39) producing a gas vortex in the upper passage (39) which creates a gas acceleration to compensate for the low pressure of the gas entering the gas input (16). The trigger valve mechanism comprises a piston valve (23), a liquid control needle valve (22), and a trigger (40). The piston valve (23) may include inner and outer apertured sleeves (26a, 26b), the sleeves being co-axial with the inner sleeve (26a) located inside the outer sleeve (26b).

The nozzle may include a body having an inlet aperture, a tubular assembly, an outlet aperture, and walls forming a closed flow path from the inlet aperture to a tubular assembly. The distal end of the tubular assembly may form the outlet for the nozzle. The tubular assembly may comprise a tube extending in the longitudinal direction and a sealing collar secured proximate the distal end to form the outlet. An articulator may provide resilient articulation of the sealing collar with respect to the tube about lateral and transverse axes. A biasing member may urge the tubular assembly distally in the longitudinal direction. A poppet valve may be selectively translatable in the longitudinal direction and shaped to stop flow through the body when seated against the sealing collar.

Abstract: An eyewash apparatus is disclosed that can be utilized on either side of an associated bowl or sink. Piping extending from spray heads to a housing overlaying a valve can be rotated into position over the sink or bowl. Rotation of the piping initiates or shuts off water flow to eyewash outlets at one end of the piping. The amount of rotation is limited by interaction of a pin traveling in an arcuate slot formed in that part of the apparatus secured to a surface adjacent the sink or bowl. The apparatus can be used on opposite sides of the sink or bowl without a structural change to any components of the apparatus.
