  • Patent number: 5267696
Abstract: An agricultural vehicle is convertible to a first mode for broadcasting liquid agricultural material and to a second mode for broadcasting dry agricultural material. The vehicle includes a single main tank which is used in the first mode to transport liquid and in the second mode to transport dry material. The tank converges to an apex at the base and an auger is positioned within the tank extending upwardly from the apex to emerge from the tank at the top of the front wall. When filled with liquid, the auger is plugged at its discharge end allowing the auger tube to be filled with the liquid. When working in the second mode, the plug is opened and the auger extracts the dry material from the main tank and deposits it onto a pair of conveyor chains each forming a curtain of material which divides into separate receptacles for transportation to separate material supply tubes of a pair of booms extending outward to each side of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4575010
Abstract: A heated sand spreader apparatus has an inclined elongated screw conveyor mounted at the rear end of a mobile chassis for receiving and conveying sand in a rearward direction along a spiraling path. A plurality of heat generators are attached to the conveyor for directing heat on the sand grains moving within the conveyor. The grains are heated to such a degree that upon subsequent contact with ice on a road surface the grains will melt the ice and deposit in it. After the ice refreezes the grains form a granular surface on the ice. The apparatus includes a broadcast-type spreader supported from the auger conveyor which receives heated sand therefrom and is operated to uniformly broadcast the sand grains on the road surface at the rear of the mobile chassis.

  • Patent number: 4106703
Abstract: A lawn treating spreader cart is provided capable of carrying, measuring, mixing, and spreading multiple lawn treatment materials while, at the same time, being compact enough for hand operation. This is accomplished by positioning bins of various treatment materials transversely across the width of the chassis. The bins have proximate, transversely positioned outlets for depositing measuring quantities of treatment material upon a forwardly moving belt, these being spread over a wide area by an adjustable rotor. Means are provided for adjusting the width of the area to be treated and for temporarily stopping the spread while the cart is being moved.
