  • Patent number: 8991108
Abstract: An automated system which anchors the moving unit(s) of a self propelled irrigation machine to the ground in order to prevent said unit(s) from tipping over under extreme weather conditions. The automatic anchor for a self-propelled irrigation system includes a tubular body, a driving mechanism, a mounting mechanism, a shaft, a screwpile, and a control unit. The screwpile is sleeved by the tubular body and mounted onto the main frame of the moving unit(s) via the mounting mechanism. The medium shaft is telescopically connected to the screwpile on one end and operatively coupled to the driving mechanism at the other end. The control unit is communicably coupled to the driving mechanism and thus controls the rotation, position, and state of the screwpile. In the extended state, the screwpile anchors the moving unit to the ground and in the withdrawn state the screwpile is retracted thus allowing for standard operations.

Abstract: The invention relates to a self-propelled, wheeled irrigation vehicles (10) that may be converted into a multi-track self-propelled irrigation vehicle (60) using one or more track assemblies (62). Each track assembly (62) includes a carriage (70) with frames (92, 94) that support a plurality of pairs of idler wheels (74, 76), and pairs of bogey wheels (80, 82, 84). A portion of one of the frames (94) is telescopically received within a portion of the other frame (92), so that the frames (92, 94) may move relative to each other in a linear fashion. A tensioning apparatus (212) is connected to the frames (92, 94) so that the frames are adjustable relative to each other. Each carriage (70) also includes a hub support frame (90) that is connected to one of the frames (92) in an offset manner. The hub support frame (90) includes an aperture (132) that rotatably receives a spindle (262) of an adaptor (258).

  • Patent number: 7866580
Abstract: A swing arm support system for automated irrigation systems has a support hub and a means to attach and operate two wheels to opposite sides of the support hub. The support hub provides greater ground flotation to prevent the forming of ruts in a field and traction to prevent an automated swing arm from becoming stuck. The swing arm support system provides for the use of common automated irrigation components so that fabrication, repair and operation are most efficient. The support hub in pivotally attached to an existing swing arm support tower. The support hub is carried by two pneumatic tires in one embodiment, four tires in another embodiment, six tires in another embodiment, and movable tracks in another embodiment.

  • Publication number: 20100140370
Abstract: An irrigation assembly has a main pipeline supported at intervals by mobile towers, a plurality of drop tube assemblies at spaced intervals along the pipeline and a collector positioned to receive water from the drop tube assembly. A plurality of targets are positioned on the ground in the paths of motion defined by the movement of the collectors. The targets may be dishes. Each dish preferably has a perforated drain that penetrates beneath the surface of the ground. Interaction between the collector and the target causes the water stored within the collector to be released into the target. The irrigation assembly may provide for underground irrigation without a collector where a dish or trough receives water from the drop tube assembly and underground drains allow for water to be dispersed below the ground.
